Shame. It's such a good TV and I'd be forced to upgrade. I wish they'd just let us purchase an upgraded hdmi 2.1 one connect box; that is if the display is itself is capable.

I posted this a while ago but obviously it was bound to be buried underneath new posts.

https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/...e/td-p/1199276

Update version 1292.1 - February 2020

Fixed a bug where the storage space is too small for updates

Update version 1292.3 - February 2020

The error was fixed that devices of the NU7400 / NU7500 series could not install updates due to insufficient storage space

I wouldn’t worry about it.... 60fps has existed since 2d platformers and it still isn’t the standard.... there will not be any games doing 4k 120hz that actually push the hardware.... I’m hoping that they make 60 standard.

Maybe not push the hardware in a next gen sense, but I'm sure tons of back compat games will run at 4k 120fps. It's even rumored Playground Games is showcasing a demonstration this week behind closed doors of Forza Horizon 4 running at 4k 120fps on XSX.

He didn't ask for alternatives, he basically asked if buying a 2018 model this close to the 2020 models, and possibly HDMI 2.1, was a bad idea or not. I'm not offended, these comparison posts are just off topic.

Yeah, I think this TV is in the sweet spot for next gen consoles...

I played God of War at [email protected], and it was an amazing display of what this TV can do. I believe the 1080p setting had a lot more detail than the 4k setting, so if I could get that level of detail at a solid 4k/60Hz (or 1440/120Hz) then I'd be thrilled. The anti-aliasing techniques made that game look better than many games I've played at 1440p on my PC. At least from my qualitative perspective.

Doesn't this TV do [email protected] with USB media? Or am I conflating it with the LG offerings in 2018?

I'm curious who will storm the (consumer) gates with MicroLEDs...I'm hoping LG, as I really liked their OLEDs, and am looking to move away from Samsung, next round.

LG has dialed in OLED, why would they disrupt their product line to go to MicroLED. I think first Microled will be Samsung or some random Chinese company that stole Samsung patents.

That is true, I mean you hear nothing about the LG LED's, why because they are focused on OLED......

Ah...I thought MicroLED was meant to be the next step after OLED, considering the limitations of the technology.

Its the best calibrations i've had for 1 years now so I always use his as base then make some slight adjustments on my own like Backlight to 50 (cause bright room) and contrast at 33 instead of 28 for example. When im using game-mode im trying to calibrate my picture to look as close to my Non-game movie mode as possible, to get the same picture as much as possible regardless what im doing.

I used standard mode at first when I got the TV, and these new settings takes some time getting used to (found it way to warm/reddish at first but now I think even Warm 1 is too cool/blueish). In the end, its all personal preference, especially if you're not watching movies then use whatever you like the most and if thats Standard mode then go for it. Personally I could never go back now
I would never go back to Standard Mode either but see here re Movie mode :

Of course, it's display dependent but my set has too much Red at Warm2. It was very noticeable on viewing normal material (as opposed to patterns).

(the only current issue being info upper bar not updating time to time, until reboot)
Hi,

I had the same problem a while back. Did the 1290.4 firmware update and changed some settings... the top info bar just wouldn't show/update correct resolution or frame rate etc. I did the following:

- Full factory reset of TV settings
- Made sure "Autorun Smart Hub" was turned ON as I turned it off in the past. (Settings > General > Smart Features > Autorun Smart Hub = ON)

Don't know if the above fixed the problem or it was just luck... anyways now the top info bar shows correct information always.

Did you try using the Tint control to mitigate it?

Nope as Tint was fine when using patterns to check. Besides, I really don't like touching Colour & Tint in general. Colour I had to set to 27 as Luminance was too low otherwise (I used a meter to set).

Anyone on 1292 notice any weird brightness dimming? In movie mode watching netflix last night, when the scene changes to a brightish scene, it is very obviously dimming down the scene.

Not sure it has done this before? I think I would have noticed it since I am noticing it now?

Local dimming high, backlight 36, no contrast enhancer, movie mode.

I see none of that with Picture Mode Natural and other settings default.

See here : https://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-d...-enhanced.html

The Setting Colour/Tint section.

Basically have to set Red Luminance (Y) to 21% of full 100% White.

Problem with PGenerator on RPi (i assume) is that while it's bit perfect for RGB, the Samsung conversion from RGB to YCbCr is pants. Introduces too many errors and too much discrepancy between RGB & YCbCr (Ted's disk). Is ok for setting Colour but i would not use for calibration.

No, its not fixed. Do yourself 2 favors:

1. use standard/natural mode for gaming
2. keep your tv offline and dont buy samsung. They have destroyed the 2018 models to make them look worse next to the garbage they put out in 2019/2020. I am done with samsung, and preordered a cx oled.
