Nice!

The Q9FN has great color volume. It is able to produce very bright and very dark colors, across its entire color gamut. It is much similar to the 2017 QLEDs, and much better than the LG C7, B7A and C8.

This tv is a beast, the highest mixed usage score for an LCD tv in rtings history and the highest contrast ratio for an lcd tv in rtings history.

Told y'all q9 is a BEAST.
Still the brightness is less than the X930E, X940E, and Z9D.... I guess it makes up for it with deeper blacks.

Regarding the rtings review, impressive native contrast ratio for an lcd and also the ratio with local dimming enabled. That hdr brightness is also impressive and it's crazy they hit over 3k nits for a tiny bit in dynamic mode.

Negatives would be the crappy out of the box colour accuracy (though it looks so bad it makes me wonder if something was screwing up the readings) and the dse which are hopefully not representative of the average set and they just got a poor panel for those things.

The panel lottery that exists in this industry is ridiculous and it'd sure be nice if QC would improve across the board.

The dimming algorithm also seems to be too aggressive as that Star Wars comparison makes it seem like the sides barely exist. When it comes to FALD systems, I'm all for losing a bit of highlights at the expense of a deeper black given my previous Panny CX850 doing that compared to how Sony's system works yet that Q9FN algorithm seems to be too much. Hopefully they tweak it.

It's nice to see that there are a a handful of solid options out there for consumers.

That sounds even wierder.

Ambient mode seems to initialize correctly but then the TV completely shuts off shortly thereafter. Hitting the home button does not do anything then.

How long in ambient mode? That's strange.

Huh? The real Scene HDR brightness test is slightly flawed as they use test patterns. They have admitted on here that it would vary if they used different scenes or method. The highlights destroy ZD9 @ 3392 nits on 10% window even if its not sustained long that's hella bright.. Highlights will change quickly per scene, really does not need to be sustained for more than a few seconds. Coupled with a much higher Contrast, deeper blacks, higher colour gamut, higher colour volume and less blooming this Tv has become the current king of LCDs.. I would not get a ZD9 over the 2018 Q9.

Does anyone have any auto motion plus setting recommendations for cable/sat/Blu-ray viewing? This is my first Sammy with my previous set being the 940D and I have yet to find a motion setting that minimizes judder and avoids SOE to my liking. I know motion is handled differently between the two brands, so maybe I just have to get used to how Sammy handles it on their end.

Automotion disabled works for me, but then I don't watch hockey so who knows. Some tennis on blu-ray looked fine.

Maybe someone else knows the answer to your problem. The user manual says hit Home to get out of ambient so idk.

Still a bit curious about this; has anybody in here that picked up their Q9FN in-store specifically notice any vertical banding or DSE?

I got mine from Value Electronics who were very cooperative letting us check in-store, lack of uniformity tends to show more as vertical though very good for LCD, and don't notice any DSE so far (2 weeks of 24x7 on).

i'm just wondering how huge of a difference it makes when these TVs are shipped compared to picking up in-store. I thought I had nearly perfect uniformity on my TV but I've been noticing DSE now in small amounts but somewhat widespread across the TV. Getting so sick of DSE and banding.

Well, that's the luck of the draw, I would say

Sometimes I wonder if color accuracy is what the average consumer wants. I remember before I switched from my iphone to a Samsung Note 5, I used to get into this arguments with a friend who insisted that his Samsung took better pictures. He told me he convinced several others to switch to Samsung. I took a picture of a burgundy shirt, he took a picture, mine was matching the burgundy color, his was red. Everyone at the party where we were having this argument liked his inaccurate red picture. Little did I know shortly after that I would become a permanent Android person. Now I like saturated warmer colors lol. I know this is a huge no in these forums, but to the average consumer, I'm not sure anymore.

I would guess the average consumer is more concerned with image pop than color accuracy, within reason.

Having regrets. Ordered from B&H which is shipping freight through ABF, so who knows how this is going to turn out in 5-7 business days when they deliver. Looking at BB just now and they can deliver within the week...

Mine have some but you will have to be pixel peeping for you you to see them. Some owners have serious DSE. I guess I got a bit lucky.

You had your set shipped to you? I honestly want to ask RTings if they would do a test to compare uniformity differences between a shipped tv vs a tv picked up in store. I think it would be a bit of a good idea.

My 75 inch is suppose to arrive tomorrow. Just checked best buy to check availability in case I need to return for what ever may go wrong. Currently saying delivery for June 1. Sure hope everything works out tomorrow or I will need to wait a month for a replacement. Are these tv really that scarce, did Bestbuy under estimate the demand or is there something going on at Samsung with last minute fixes?

Says they're special ordering them so I guess they're getting them direct from Samsung when you order. I got mine scheduled for June 1.

Would also be curious to know. Reviews so far that include zone counts have only been on 65" as far as I've seen.
