HDR won’t show unless you’re running a game that supports HDR. Not on the XMB. Load a game that supports HDR and go to action menu picture settings and look for the HDR icon next to picture mode.

I kinda love the soap opera effect. When I turn the motion on smooth or high in my current Samsung tv, I notice a semi pause or freeze in the scenes. I read somewhere that this is regular issue in some samsung tvs.
Does this also happen with Sony?

Press the help button on the remote or select the help icon from the home screen. The software version number will be located on the top right corner of the help menu. The current version is PKG6.5629.0177NAA.

Set looks really good and if that's representative of the blooming and DSE you get, you should be real happy with your choice.

Not true, you just need a projector. 3D is still in the projector world. Worried about picture quality you say? Well don't. With talking with Chad B the JVC DLA-RS540U projector in a room painted a dark color, light controlled, you will get a "similar" picture between a 900F and Z9D ...... Yep !

Boy that's a tough call you are close, so either one will be big. The82" will just be real big...lol. The # 1 reason for buyers remorse is not picture quality, it is screen size in most cases, I would like to add......... Everyone is different but we all know the answer to this most important question you have to ask yourself, "Am I a quantity kind of guy or a quality

Well I was setting up my apps opened AmazonVideo started playing The New Jack Ryan series and the app flaked out. Was showing HDR and DV and now the icon for the tv show remains gray and all I get is some very low quality stream. I have searched for over an hour on how to delete the app, restart the app or something to get it to work again. Nothing will work. Anyone had any similar issues with this app? If so how did you fix it? Otherwise I guess I am going to have to call sony.

I don't disagree, but for me if I want to use HDR+DV via streaming it has to be on the TV. My receiver isn't hdcp 2.2 compliant.

There has to be a way to reset/remove/reinstall an app on this device without having to replace the tv.

My 85X900F showed up yesterday. Did some basic calibration using RTINGS settings and watched Sicario: Day of the Soldado last night. My initial impression is WOW with 16:9 material and disappointment with wider material (i.e. Sicario). The amount of bloom in the black bars with HDR material especially is super distracting in a dark room. I knew this was going to be a potential issue, but not to the degree in which I experienced it. My eyes were constantly drawn to it. Keep in mind I am coming from a 75X940C which at the time was basically top of the line for 2015. Yes the 940C exhibits similar issues, but not anywhere near to the same extent. Maybe I am just more sensitive to this than others, but I am either going to have to suck it up and live with it or take a pretty hefty restocking fee. Anyone have any suggestions on how to minimize the issue?

Going to test it with football (American) tonight. Will report back.

Try bias lighting. It made a world of difference with mine.

That was the same thing Chris over at Cleveland Plasma suggested. I may pick up a Hue LED strip to attach to it and see if that will do the trick. I did notice that during the day the blooming isn't nearly as noticeable as it was at night in a dark room. Seems to be a plausible solution. Thanks @jpvision .

While it was the very first thing I turned off on my 85 yesterday I did notice some stuttering with motion smoothing turned on. I didn't test it extensively and it could have been driven by the 23.976hz material it was presented with. Someone else might be able to chime in but I would imagine many in this forum disable the function, not enable it.

I mainly watch TV series. No sports, no gaming. That's why I like the soap opera effect.

That’s easy, thanks very much!

Looks like I’m still on .0175NAA and it’s going to make me wait ... guess I’m not in the front row.

So I’ve seen that we can ‘reset’ our Sony’s back to factory default (pretty standard feature), but is there any way to backup and restore settings? Obviously a handy feature and one that makes me more likely to want to experiment with other’s settings. If I could backup, play around, screw up, and restore; I’d not worry about where I started.

My SSP (processor) has that feature, besides experimention with various features (like PEQ), it’s useful if you want to ‘wipe the slate’ with a factory reset, then restore back to a known good point. The Sony has internal storage it could use, or a flash drive.

Used to use a Spyder 4, now I use an X-rite i1Display Pro (i1D3), with free PC program HCFR. Takes about an hour to do a full and proper calibration of the X900F 10 point white balance. Got my meter for $160USD, use it on all my TV's, and the X-Rite came with Mac and PC software that allows automated REC709/sRGB calibration of laptops and PC's, so it's a very useful device, and I have been calibrating everything I own for years, and years to come.

The settings on rtings.com are completely a no go ON MY X900F...every panel is different, so it's hit and miss wether someone else's white balance settings will work well with your TV.

ok forgive the simple question, but what mount or type of mount are people using for the 85"?

I saw a full motion mount at costco today,,,I don't see having this much weight moving around very much, it seems like it would increase the pull/leverage on the mount

For blown highlights, should I adjust the Brightness or Gamma? The blacks look fine but in some scenes white is very blown out. Otherwise, the overall picture looks pretty good, although I'm still 100% happy with it.
