I appreciate the advice and I agree with your statement. However, in the world of 80"+ TVs that are "reasonable" in price, there aren't a whole lot of options. I admit I haven't followed the X950G thread, but viewing angles are not a problem for me and it sounds like this year's Sony sacrificed contrast to improve viewing angles. The Samsung Q90R is more expensive and I've read too many reviews in which the owner was not thrilled with the motion compared to Sony sets. I'm pretty sensitive to things like SOE.

I suppose if the X900F is still being produced this year, it should theoretically still be available (though probably in limited quantities as stock runs out) at this time next year, so I may at least wait until BF.

If I were in the market for a 80+, I'd get the 85X900F too. Prices have dropped, I wouldn't worry about stock running out. If/when it closes out, you can always pull the trigger then. Probably at closeout pricing.

Are you seeing that price drop anywhere online yet?

It looks like it's a $500 price drop. Having read that the X900F will continue to be produced in 2019 (assuming that means this isn't the last of the stock right now), I still don't know if I want to hold out until Black Friday. I'd like to for two reasons. First, the obvious possibility of another price drop. People were getting these for $3800 out the door through Greentoe months ago. Second, it's for a room I'm still setting up, so I don't HAVE to have it right now.

I know there is no guarantee that these things will still be available by then. I believe it was in the other thread you started where I all but made up my mind to go with the X900F after reading about poorer motion on the Q90R. Decisions...

I did the manual update this afternoon. I had no ARC problems before and it still works now. Amazon/Youtube/Google Play HDR did not work for me before and no change there either.

I only noticed it on Sony's website in the "Where to buy" section. They had it at 4499 and as of yesterday it's now 3999. It looks like the retailers listed below the Sony price (with the exception of one of them which had the same price drop a few weeks ago) have not updated their prices yet. I'm assuming sometime next week the retailer websites will reflect the new price that is seen on Sony.com.

I have the Harmony Elite & a SmartThings hub which work together. My bias lighting remote is RF so I needed a smart outlet to turn it on/off. If you have bias lighting with an IR remote, you can turn it on/off with the remote (no smart outlet needed).

I have the Antec bias lighting and I have the harmony smart remote with hub. The lighting does not have RF. I’ve done some research I can’t seem to find any smart outlets that work with the harmony hub. Do you know of any? I don’t want to have to buy an extra smart things hub as well.

if you have harmony elite setup i would suggest invest in phlips hue, not only my bias lighting is programmed into activities the other lamps are short cut on the button remote, bias lighting turns on only when it is dark, or have echo compatible lamps.

Not off the top of my head. You might want to post on the Harmony Elite thread to see if anyone has a suggestion.

Thank you. I’ll look at that site and I may end up ordering an RF remote that the hub can learn.

Hi,

Can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I have my x900f connected to a Denon receiver via HDMI for video and optical for audio but can only seem to get audio in stereo.

I've set the TV to output audio in PCM. Still stereo. Any setting I'm missing?

Thanks!

One of the issues with optical is that it doesn't have enough bandwidth for the lossless audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks found on most Blu-rays. An optical connection also can't support more than two channels of uncompressed PCM audio.
I run mine through ARC on a Denon and no issues.

Connect your HDMI to TV's IN#3 ARC and to HDMI OUT/Monitor 1 ARC on the Denon. If I remember correctly, the setting in the TV menu goes to Dolby Plus or something like that.

Yes, 5.1 DD/DTS over optical is compressed, so you want "Digital Audio Out" set to "Auto 1", not "PCM". As others have said, if your receiver supports ARC, you should probably use that instead of optical. If you have Atmos, you should also turn on "Sound Mode Sync".

What price range are you looking at? Wayfair has stands for up to 88" in the several hundred dollar range.

Companies like BDI run a couple of thousand. I have the Sweep model and it would easily hold an 85" - anything up to 175 lbs. Drop-down wheels make moving it a breeze.

Why not wall mount? It's cheaper.

Dolby Vision is probably going to remain not as bright . HDR 10 is nice and bright on my 900f.

I would go ARC but I'm using the X900F as a computer monitor (so X900F --> PC --> Denon) and the main output display is another TV that's using up the ARC slot.

Thanks again!

It won't change your settings unless you do a factory reset after performing the firmware upgrade.

Thank you for the link. I have 2 R and Left subwoofers 16.2 x 14 x 14.4 inches. Will I be able to hide them in the cabinets? Are the doors covered with speaker cloth?

Today I was at BB and there was a new "higher" level 85X950G $1K more than they offered me for 900F at $3.8 K. Side by side it was connected to the same player and I tried hard to see any small improvements in picture quality but didn't find anything.
Please let me decide if there is something that I didn't notice.
I have smaller 900e and 930 e in my home too so I am familiar with Sony LEDs.
I like 930e's HDR and brightness but hate the limited viewing angle. I watch ice hockey and love the shades of bright white ice that 900e couldn't duplicate. Is 900F 85 inch bright like 930E?
My son likes the 900e for games and the viewing angle.

I too am having trouble with the internal VUDU app. It only outputs 2 channels now. I do not have an atmos setup. I am using the optical connection from the 900f to a non-4k receiver, which was outputting dolby 5.1 just fine. Netflix and amazon prime work fine with dolby 5.1 So it must be the vudu app?

The Sweep cabinet has solid doors on each side. I have a soundbar in the middle opening, but I wouldn't put subs in cabinets, they're better located in places subs should be located (corners, floors etc.)

A BDI cabinet, called Corridor has a full slat front, maybe suitable for front L/R
