Is it easier to unplug from your switch instead of the Tv? It should work the same, no connection allowing wi-fi to take over.

8K, 10,000 nits of brightness XBR-85Z9G is not an option because the price is 4 times more expensive.
Well exchange it and do not allow any updates? Otherwise your only other options ate QN82Q80R and the QN82Q90R but neither has DV.....

I unplugged ethernet and was able to connect to WIFI. The Logitec Elite was then able to "find" the TV and I added it accordingly. It now works again.

Did not plug ethernet back in, just wanted to enjoy using the remote for a bit! Again, I was unable to chromecast to the TV without WIFI connected. The TV also had some kind of issue with having the ethernet plugged in AND WIFI connected, do not recall what feature was messed up....ugh...

Hazy cloud issue around moving objects

I’ve got an issue that didn’t appear until the last update. It looks like a hazy cloud that appears around moving objects on the screen, more noticeable when I’m watching golf in 4K HDR on Directv. It’s pretty noticeable in the videos linked below, hopefully I did that right. When I turn off Local Dimming, the issue disappears. I’ve calibrated the TV, so I’m using the custom setting. I've noticed this issue when I change it to cinema pro and cinema home as well, which has default settings.

I've factory reset and re-calibrated the TV, having the same result.

Any thoughts?

Video 1

Video 2

Attached is the latest calibration results as well. I am fairly new to the calibration scene, so it may not be the greatest.

That looks like auto dimming gone wild. I don't know why that would have changed with the update though.

@CH2780

That is exactly right, it's the local dimming. Do a full factory reset and see if that correct the issue.

Full factory reset was done and the problem still exists. Even before re-calibrating the TV, I would go into the presets for Pro and Home and this would be visible.

Do you see it with local dimming off, does it get worse as you change the setting , Low, Med, High?

I would go ahead and start a claim with Sony just in case

Issue goes away with local dimming completely off. Somewhat noticeable with it at low. Very noticeable at medium and high, no difference between the two.

Does it do this for all content, streaming, antenna/cable, Disk player? When it's doing this what are your Brightness, Contrast, and XDR settings? just curious, I'm sure they are fine

***Well, I was reading in the Roku Ultra AVS Forum about the recent update and one poster talking about how great the HDR picture is. I thought I'd try it out. Wow, I'm surprised on how great the HDR picture is (Jessica Jones). Better than the native app, which really surprises me. Great light to dark enhancement. If all HDR looked like this, I would be a very happy camper.

The Rokus only do HDR10 they don't have a Dolby Vision license. Jessica Jones on the Sony Netflix App is in Dolby Vision.

***My bad but maybe that explains it? Dolby Vision with the Roku Ultra is displayed as plain old HDR? If that’s the case, it looks far better than any DV or HDR that I’ve seen in the past. Great highlights and not a dark, washed out DV picture. Thanks.

Netflix has two versions of some HDR programs HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Netflix does not convert HDR format rather they determine which version of HDR your device can read and sends the appropriate stream.

Dolby Vision is considered the superior format so that is what is sent to Sony, LG, Vizio and TCL internal Apps and the AppleTV 4K. I don't believe all Netflix HDR programs have a Dolby Vision version.

Is there a way to have another picture mode setup with input lag as low as the game picture mode?

I’m thinking maybe just turn off all motion settings in a separate picture mode.

Or is there more going on in the game picture mode that can’t be reproduced in a different mode?

With the new models coming out, how long do you think this model will still be available for purchase? It seems perfect for my needs, but I would rather wait until November to buy it.

By November the X950G will be heavily discounted to start dropping stock to make room for the coming 2020 models. Sony has already scaled way back on production of the X900F and expect production to stop by late summer.

If your waiting to Black Friday I would be looking to get a 2019 model.

Ok, thanks. I want the 49" model and the ability to do 1440p at 120 Hz. As far as I know neither of these are available in the new model. I want to use it as my PC monitor. My birthday is in November, but I will have to keep an eye on this and get it before it is too late.

2018 Sony XBR 900F owners thread (No Price Talk)

Is anybody else having problems with the built-in Netflix app? I try to start it up and I just get the big red and in a spinning red circle. I’ve tried clearing cache and rebooting the TV and nothing fixes it. I’ve even reset my router and modem.

Update: Netflix doesn’t work on my other Sony devices either. It does work ok my TIVO. All other apps work on the TV and Sony devices. This is weird. Maybe it’s time for an Apple TV.

What does this TV do when it's updating? I think the May update had been downloaded but never ran...every time I checked for updates it said it had downloaded the latest update and would install the next time I turn the TV off. Today, I did a soft reset by holding the Power button on the remote for 5 seconds. The TV turned off (it said "Powering down" or something like that). It then turned back on after a few seconds - the Sony logo appeared on the screen and disappeared. Now, the TV is on, but the screen is blank. Does this mean it's updating? I thought there was some graphic or message last time I updated. It's been this way for about 50 minutes so far. I don't want to reboot again in case it is updating.

Thanks

Go to the Netflix app and uninstall update, then see if it works again. I had to do this right after Netflix changed their pricing packages in May. After i did the uninstall it worked, then I went back to the app and updated it, and it continued to work.

Yep, tried that at least three times. That didn't fix it. Also held power down for six seconds to reboot several times and rebooted router and modem. This is a great TV but the Android part sucks. The weird thing is Netflix won't work on my Sony 4k BD player either. It works on my non Sony devices though. I've given up and am picking up an Apple TV 4k this afternoon from my favorite electronics store.

I had to clear the cache in the app menu after they changed pricing.

I did that as well and cleared all data. It just doesn't make sense coupled with the Netflix app on my Sony BD player not working either.
