I hope you correct them in the next update. The problem is that it should take a long time to start!

Walmart sells one for less than $30. I used it on my first 85" 900F. Worked fine. However, that being said I haven't used it yet for my replacement unit. Best Buy took my first one back because of the dark corner syndrome. I'm not sure but I am thinking that maybe the hanging it on the wall may have caused it. The 85" weighs a lot. You can feel it when you pick it up to put it on the wall. That weight hanging there is putting a lot of weight stress on the body of the TV. If you press a finger on the LCD for a moment and then lift it up you will see a dark spot momentarily. What if the weight stress was being accentuated in the four corners of the bezel. It's constant and could be the reason for the dark corners.

What does anyone think about that? When I de-mounted the first 85" for the Best Buy return the dark corners diminished a lot.

Dark corners are common for LCD TVs, its part of the uniformity challenge inherent in the technology. I doubt that its related to the weight of the panel.

I recommend the Sanus SLT3-B1 wallmount which you can buy at Costco for $85. It tilts and can extend 5-6 inches from the wall for easy cable access, and supports up to 90" screen size and a weight up to 150 pounds. The 85 inch 900F is 100 pounds.

Hi.

Did the Oreo (Android 8) update increase the speed of the graphical interface over the Nougat (Android 7) version? I've heard that it was slow and clunky under Nougat. I'm considering getting the 85 x900f over the 85 x950g since it's less expensive but didn't want the slow interface.

Yes it did, plus there are things you can do to speed it up even further.

HDMI 2.0 full bandwidth inputs?

I am considering this tv but after reading about the hdmi inputs I have questons.
I will have 4 devices to hook up via hdmi.
Apple TV 4K, roku ultra, Sony uhd blu Ray player and Sony ps4 pro.
Will I be able to watch 4K, hdr, and Dolby vision content from all 4 ports?

Yes, all ports support 4K DV, ports 2/3 support 4:4:4 60FPS content in enhanced mode.

I would recommend the following:
Port 1 - Roku Ultra
Port 2 - Apple Tv
Port 3 - Sony UHD Player
Port 4 - PS4 Pro

Current system:
Sony 75X900e/Sony STR-DN-1080, CS-3/CS-8/CS5
Sony X800 4K blu-ray player/Dish Hopper3
Roku 4 Premier/Sony PS-4

Not putting the PS4 Pro in port 2 or 3 doesn't make any sense. That is a device that you would want the enhanced mode available. The UHD player isn't going to be sending anything at 60FPS unless you are watching the one movie capable of 60FPS that I am aware of.

You also have to consider that port 3 is the ARC port. Are you connecting a soundbar through ARC and using that port or optical?

I personally put both my Xbox and PS4 to my soundbar then port 3 (ARC port), but my soundbar supports HDR pass through.

This has been discussed ad nauseam earlier in this thread if you search for it.

Thank you for all the information. I am new to the 4K stuff. based on the above really confusing. I will look into the X950G since all ports support all resolutions for 4k.

I’m watching Monday Night Football and the picture on my 75” 900F looks absolutely gorgeous! It looks so good that if you told me it was 4K I wouldn’t question you. I’m blown away by the picture on this thing. It just goes to show you what this tv will do with a quality feed. Had to share my excitement. Go Jets!

Btw I have Verizon FiOS TV One which is a 4K capable box and I have video format set to 2160.

unfortunately you will be disappointed with 4K HDR/DV feed on same set. SDR PQ brings your hope high and it disappoints with HDR/DV content.

Not sure bout that. Our planet on Netflix which is 4K HDR/DV looks out of this world. Yes there are some movies that are a little on the dark side but overall I’m nappy with HDR. Ridiculous 6 also looks phenomenal in 4K HDR/DV on Netflix.

Maybe a software fix can improve some issues with HDR/DV?

Also, for the movies/tv series that are on the dark side like Ozark for example...is this a 900F issue or a HDR/DV issue? I guess what I’m asking is,...are owners of the Samsung Q9OR which gets brighter than the 900F also complaining?

TV Does Full Boot Almost Every Time

Hello. I have 2 65" 900F's and have had issues with one of them doing the full android boot almost every time the TV is powered on. This started happening about 2 or 3 software updates ago for that TV. Now, recently my other 900F is doing the same thing after the most recent software update. The TV always comes on after the full boot but it's annoying having to wait the 2 minutes for the TV to power on.

Have any others had this issue and found a solution? I'm not having the issue of the TV constantly boot looping like others, but just the annoying full boot almost every time it's powered on. Thanks in advance!

I'd do a factory reset on both TVs. If you're still having a problem, file a warranty claim if possible.

If you use a current model AVR, you won't have to worry about the HDMI port capabilities.

Why is that? I have some of the same concerns on the 900f vs the 950g. Mind you I am looking ar the 85in so the difference in cost is significant .

Thanks for any information.

With a current AVR that supports the enhanced capabilities of HDMI 2,3 on the 900F you can connect your devices to the AVR and then run one HDMI connection to the 900F.

Which is what I was describing earlier with my soundbar. I pass two items through to the ARC port (which is enhanced).

First off the 85X900F just took a price drop on the dealer side, might want to re-check that. Either way, the 850G is edge lit and the 900F is FALD, big difference and yes, worth the cash......

What are everyone's thoughts regarding an extended warranty for this TV?

I'm considering purchasing the 85" X900F from Best Buy and I'm trying to decide whether or not the extra $750 for a 5-year warranty is worth the peace of mind. Assuming I'm happy with this TV, I don't plan on upgrading it within 5 years, but an extra $750 on top of the price is hard to swallow.

The OP stated that he needs to connect all 4 devices to the 900F, implying that he doesn't currently have a soundbar/AVR. Yes a compatible soundbar will solve the problem but AVRs in general are more likely to have HDR pass through etc which is why I added it to the mix to bring it to his attention as another solution.

You might want to check the price of a Square Trade warranty. You can get them on hardware bought from BB, just not through BB.

The ST warranty covers less but will take care of most problems.

Also use a credit card that provides extended warranty.

Absolutely agreed. I was trying to reinforce to the OP the same thing, albeit in reverse. I, perhaps, wasn't as clear as I had intended to be.

Quick question: Starting when I turned it on this morning (XBR900F-75), it displays HDMI-1 across the top, with a slight ghosting/shadow behind it. Can't get it to go away. Turned off & on, went thru Input options, everything I can think of. HDMI-1 is the default (TiVo).

This is the type of display you would get when you change inputs, except it usually goes away in 3-5 seconds.

Help!

Edit to add: And now it just turned itself off. Turned it back on, display is still there.

Edit to further add: I have a second identical TV. When I turn it on, it displays the HDMI-1 banner for about 2-3 seconds, and goes away. So just the one TV.

This is the type of display you would get when you change inputs, except it usually goes away in 3-5 seconds.

Help!

Edit to add: And now it just turned itself off. Turned it back on, display is still there.
Have you tried unplugging to let it reset? You need to see the Android load screen.

Just power it down and unplug it from the wall for a couple of minutes. When you plug it back in and power it on, you should she that odd android logo come up. It will keep all of your settings with this reset.
