I’ve asked this before but I have more info this time. My TV sometimes disables wifi. This never happened until the Oreo update. I’ll turn on the tv and have no internet. When I go to the settingS the wifi slider isn’t enabled. No problem just enable it right? Well when I do it just goes right back to disabled.

To “fix” it I have to hold the power button on the remote and let the tv cycle back on then connect to my wireless, put in the password etc. it’s annoying.

Now this happens seemingly randomly. Usually in the morning when I first turn the tv on after it’s been off all night. Occasionally it’s done it during the day after it’s been off for a while. It never disables while the tv is on. But it’s not an everyday thing. Sometimes it will happen in short succession other times It will be days in between instances. It’s weird

Same mount. I love it. I like that after the fact you can adjust with a screwdriver each side to get it perfectly level. Great for people that are ocd like me. I like that you can turn out one side and it sits pretty flat. Very very easy to tilt too. The perfect mount. Not full motion but I don’t like those much as they seem to always be off on everyone’s tv level over time

Hi everyone,

To those of you who have a 900f, does anyone like their cable tv feed/picture quality? I have Spectrum cable and I'm unsure how good the picture will look with just cable.

I currently have a 58"plasma and the cable looks good. I am considering an 85x900f, so I went to a local AV shop and asked them to plug in their cable.... it looked terrible. Smeery, artifacts and generally not very good. He played with motion and such, but it only made it slightly better. The 4K content looked delicious and I'm positive that 4K over Netflix and even bluray will look better, but my main viewing in this room is standard cable(720,1080i). So could anyone who uses cable as mostly their main input comment on the picture quality? I could just buy it and plug it in and return, but trying to avoid the hassle if possible.

If I went to Hulu live or Youtube, is the picture quality much better?

Thanks all.

Amazon streaming is flaky, especially from the native app. Do you see motion problems from any other sources? The 900F is pretty much as good as it gets for motion.

The wifi was messed up on an earlier firmware, but was supposed to have been fixed on the latest. Which version are you on?

Thanks all.

The 900F's upscaling will make it look as good as possible but the larger the screen size the worse lower resolutions are going to look, no matter which TV you use. At 85", HD will look especially soft.

Spectrum is notorious for inferior PQ, Hulu and Youtube TV should be better IMO.

If that's a concern, go with a smaller screen or sit at a longer distance. It won't be a problem for 4K of course.

I have the 65" model and Spectrum. I have watched a handful of NBA games so far. Using the settings from the calibration thread, the picture looks awesome to me. My old Samsung DLP looked horrible with cable, but the X900F does a great job of upconverting and cleaning up artifacts.

I have the 85 and use Comcast Xfinity. The picture quality is very impressive with very few artifacts. The motion handling on this TV is better than my LG C7 OLED I have in my bedroom. Remember at BB and other retailers, the settings are not usually optimized and they typically use an AV splitting system that will often degrade the signal. I would think of the signal you see at retailers as the worst case scenario.

Hi and thanks for the response!

Do you have a standard Xfinity cable box or a 4k box?

This was at a higher end AV store, thought they would of had the cleanest signal possible, but maybe not.

Diononiz, are the channels pretty good or are some better than others?

Is this due to over compression?

I have the 4k DVR in the bedroom and use one of the newer 4k Wifi boxes in the living room. Some are better than others, I noticed during NFL broadcasts ESPN seems to be the best with fox then CBS/NBC next in order of signal quality.

Hours of usage

I've done a search in this thread, but have drawn a blank. My question is–is there a control panel/settings location that will show the hours of operation/usage for this model? TIA.

Hi All - we’ve had a 65” 900f for several months and really like it. Recently cut the cord and dropped DirecTV. Using a TiVo OTA for local channels and that works great. Have had Sling TV for two months and find that I pretty much watch only the History Channel. I’d like to cancel Sling and just use the History Channel app for my fav programs.

However...... I can’t seem to figure out how to make the History Channel work without having a “TV Provider”. Trying to activate the app takes you to the A&E web site where you enter a code from the TV and then it asks for that TV Provider. Not cool. Am I missing something- is there a way to have the History Channel (more than likely a monthly payment) without being locked into Comcast, DirecTV, etc.?

BTW - we just did this with the Hallmark Channel and that works just great - no need to have a stinkin’ TV Provider.

Thanks, Jim

Jim, in the city of Folsom, CA. (NOT the prison!)

Close enough for those settings to get you most of the way there.

There's a lot of sets of settings. Did any of these rise to the top?

A little help, please

This TV is not very user friendly, IMO.

Every time I attempt to start a movie ( blu-ray player ) the caption "Unable to connect or switching to internal speakers" pops up, EVERY TIME!!!!!

I then have to shut off TV, unplug, then restart. Is there a solution?

This issue along with constant battles with attempting to tweak the picture in order to have a descent sports viewing session is driving me insane.

52” Samsung LN55B5000 LCD TV from 2009. Quite a dramatic jump but admittedly that Samsung never failed us once and is still in the main room!

For me not really. I started with rtings settings and tuned it for my liking from there. There’s a 900F settings thread here somewhere where lots of users have posted their settings. People generally like captncrunch and anderegg’s settings in that thread.

Mine are rtings with a minor bump in color to 55 and some other adjustments for my liking. I owned a 900E briefly before getting a free upgrade to the F and I ran same settings on both. I suggest using cinema pro for HDR with xtended dynamic range on medium.

I prefer a mostly accurate picture so I almost always roll with rtings settings with adjustments to taste.

With a smart tv or external box, you can watch all cable channels in 1080p or at least uncompressed via the app. Sports look twice as sharp on the apps. It’s most evident on espn and fox sports. Discovery looks great as well. Once you start using the apps, you’ll never go back to standard cable feeds. It only takes a second to download the channel app and log in one time. You only need to do this for your favorite channels. Enjoy.

I can't comment of the blu rays as I don't watch them. As far as tweaking the picture, you need to adjust your settings, either by using some of the user settings on here or by doing it yourself using a Bluray, do not even attempt to adjust your settings using a regular tv channel. Once you get what you like just leave it, tv picture will vary from channel to channel, they will even vary from camera to camera watching sporting events, trying to adjust for every time you watch a game is an exercise in futility and will drive you nuts.

Discovery looks great as well. Once you start using the apps, you’ll never go back to standard cable feeds. It only takes a second to download the channel app and log in one time. You only need to do this for your favorite channels. Enjoy.
Apps don't do 5.1 sound. Hard to go back to stereo after listening to 5.1 for the last 15 years.

Not true, the availability of 5.1 or ATMOS sound is dependent on the individual app and content. For example most Netflix shows have 5.1 sound through the AndroidTV native app. I use ARC to send the 5.1 signal from the app to my AVR, It sounds excellent.

While watching HD and 4k on Disney and Netflix via TV apps I dont see the hdr symbol when I check input and hitting display on remote only works for some shows. I have HD and 4k box clicked in settings etc. Hdr only shows up everytime if I switch from auto to hdr10..which makes picture look horrid. Any ideas?

Dolby vision always pops up as active when I hit display button...disney+ nothing pops up when I hit display button..pic settings menu doesnt show hdr symbol. Settings on auto. So confused.

Thank you.

Many do, some don't. Pick your poison. Garbage picture with DD, or excellent picture with 5.1 stereo or pro logic surround. For sports, that's a no brainier. Cable is horrendous for sports.
