Let me know and I can take some new pictures this weekend.

As to your other issue I believe rtings might have covered that in their QA section. I’m not entirely sure what you need to do but may be something along the lines of using game preset and forcing the resolution and refresh in your video card control panel.
Thanks, i was talking about the photos you uploaded in the forum about your issues.

Am sorry. I thought that you have dead pixels like me. I was asking photos of that.

Well the good old days of buying any plasma for any price and having a great picture are over 900F is a great cost effective way to get there.........

Auto Local Dimming

Back at post 1451, I showed my settings for the 65", but something was happening when I was watching Colbert last night. There was a single shot of the seated guest, and every time he moved his hands, there appeared to be a shadow cast on the column in the background over his right shoulder. I replayed those couple of seconds, then in slow motion saw that is was being caused by the "Auto Local Dimming" which I had set to medium. I turned it to off, and it cleared the problem.

ALD, when engaged, can also create over saturated blooming and pre-blooming.

A while back, someone stated that turning this selection "off" defeats the purpose of our local dimming (vs edge lit) panels.

That is not correct. The panel is designed as it's designed, local dimming.

If you're having any type of ghosting or shadowing issue, try that auto local dimming adjustment.

So after having my 55 inch set up for a few days I'm enjoying it a lot. I've been using Rtings settings and dont really care for them that much. Expert 1 seems too yellow even though I've used warm 1/2 on all of my other TVs.

I also find that on the home screen of my xbox one x, the icons are all kinds of screwed up contrast wise but playing games it's fine, at least in HDR.

I tried using live color with it turned to low and I am enjoying it but am kind of skewed away from it, also tried with black levels set to high and dynamic contrast (or whatever its call) turned to high.

Anyone want to share their 55 inch settings? I read through and saw some settings others are using and am going to test some of them out tonight and do a little tweaking. It seems the "pop" isnt there for me like it is on my other sets.

I love the set otherwise.

I find rtings rather dull myself. They like to turn off all the extra picture processing that gives it that "Pop" you're looking for.

I also find Expert 1 too yellow

Try warm instead. Try putting advanced contrast enhancer on Low or med, Black adjust on med, xtended dynamic range on med, auto local dimming on med or high, setting color at 60, and leave live color on low. You could also try lowering your gamma to -1 to deepen the blacks a little too.

Any idea why? I just installed my tv last night. Is it a bad set?
Am powering everything through Denon x4400 AVR.
I have one 3’ HDMI cable that does this. Doesn’t do it on other systems, so maybe that’s the problem?

I don’t think they are dead pixels. Looks like dust or etc trapped behind screen. I’ll post mine this weekend when I get back in town.

I’ve moved past mine because I can’t seem them unless I’m closer than 6 feet to it and the panel is otherwise great.

Perhaps you are right. the shape is odd for a dead pixel. anyway i think i am just enjoy the tv. and stop worriying. thanks for answering.
Quick question, this is my first time with a 4k display. to see 1080p content from a PC, it is recommended to set the resolution to 1080p?

did anyone replace an oled for this TV? someone is making me a very good deal on a B7P and it would help to have an opinion who owned(own) both set.

thanks

I have the same grey spot. I only notice it when sitting directly in front of my 65" while using it as a computer screen. Looks like dust in the diffuser layer to me. TV is otherwise perfect so I dare not risk a "real" issue by trying to get a better set.

So I got the X700 (X800 back in FL anyway, and was debating having it shipped out here). Did the update, and when i play movies (Cars 3, Star Wars Last Jedi) I get the DV logo during the menus, etc, but when the movie plays it looks duller than expected, and when i go into picture settings it's just listed as HDR. When I go to Advanced and select the HDR setting manually I only get HDR10, HLG, Auto and off. When i watch DV from the Apple TV I get a special DV label on the picture settings menu, and in fact DV is listed in the HDR settings too. Also, some options are greyed out I think.

Anyway, I feel as though the movie is NOT playing in DV on the X700. Current firmware, HDMI3 with wide color mode enabled, DV enabled 4K BD movie. Anyone else having issue? Any ideas?

Got home after being away on business for a few days. First good watch of the new set tonight. I kept noticing black dots and finally paused what I was watching to pipe a white background on my mac.

There are 21 groups of dead pixels ranging from 2 to 5 pixels in each group. Many are near the center of the screen.

There's also one noticeably darker patch about 2x2 inches just upper left of the center of the screen. I strongly suspect it's a weak led in the array. I'll post more pictures tomorrow. Too late right now. Bummer.

It's also setup so that if the Onkyo is turned on, like via airplay, it doesn't turn the TV on. So the Onkyo won't control the TV but the TV will control the Onkyo.
That’s good to hear, glad it’s working well for you. Like connecting an Ethernet cable to eliminate WiFi, IP control eliminates IR, and uses the same cable! When you added the 900F did Harmony offer to use IP? Did you have to do anything on the Sony side for it to use IP?

Has anyone seen a complete list of remote commands available on the 900F (IR & IP) published by Sony?
Sometimes only the commands available on the remote make it into the database, when actually there are many more in the command set that can be added if they’re known (direct access to the video menu was mentioned earlier).

Similar to a gripe I have. Turn my receiver on with my receiver remote, and it turns the TV on. But when I turn the receiver off, it doesn't turn the TV off.

But I use the TV remote to turn the TV off, and it turns both the tv and receiver off.

I just want to be able to use the receiver remote to turn both off, but I just can't get it to work. Everything is set and enabled on both devices, but it just won't work.

That sounds bad enough to exchange to me. Especially near center and noticing while watching from where you normally watch at. I had one that had a huge cluster of dust or whatnot dead center on one of my panels. Looked like a crosshair from a game and was fully visible from 10.5ft back.

Current one only has 2 small clusters both not visible from any seating position. I’d exchange it in a heartbeat. I’ll have some pics of mine this weekend to share.

. So did I and it did work out of the box. The next day it became buggy and the following day it stopped working completely. Tried resetting the TV as well as my $3K Denon receiver, changing cables, updating firmware, trying any and every setting combination possible. It just does not work any more. I am now using an Optical cable and am fine with this as I am at least able to downstream 7.1 DTS which can be expanded to Audyssey DSX Height/Width. As of now I am not aware of any built in apps within the X900F that are outputting Atmos. I currently enjoy Atmos via my Media Player connected to the 900F via my Denon receiver.

Motion?

I'm extremely sensitive to motion issues, which is why I still have a Panasonic plasma. How is the motion handling on this set? I tried the Vizio P65 F1 and motion was not to my liking. I've read that Sony motion processing is excellent.

I returned an LG SK9000 for the X900F and I couldnt be happier. I was getting really really bad light bleed on the bottom left of the LG which could have been defective but who knows. There was a couple of other things that didnt gel with me and the reviews of the X900F were just ALL stellar.

This is trivial as hell and I am not a big video buff but the fact that ARC worked perfectly out of the box blew...my....mind! I've had an LG plasma and the LG SK9000 and ARC would never work right. Now when I change inputs to either the 4k player or back to cable box the soundbar adjusts automatically....F*** YESSSSS!!!!! YES YES YESSSS!! You guys have no idea how happy this makes me haha.

Picture quality is stunning and Dolby Vision seems to be working just fine (Netflix). Someone please enlighten me if I am wrong but I am going to have to change my 4k player to something that supports Dolby Vision if I want to watch DV discs? Everything I've seen said whatever external device you are using needs to be DV compatible too. So it doesnt just get processed on the TVs end then? I bought an LG 4K player when I got the SK9000 which has HDR support but not DV....

Currently only the Sony x700 and the Oppo 203 support Dolby Vision with the X900F. The X700 needs to have the Dolby Vision setting turned on to play DV, hopefully a software update can enable auto-detection of DV encoded discs in the future.

I'm also coming from a 65" Panasonic Veria. The motion on this LCD looks great once you turn off motion interpolation.
