The new 1292 firmware is out for the USA version of the tv. It would be great to get some feedback.

Installed it a few hours ago. Watched some YTTV on my AppleTV and to be honest, noticed nothing new or different in my small time with the update.

If its the same update as the one that was on the korean site last week, game mode is still completely broken.

Installed 1292 and noticed that my Chromecast, and Xbox One icons no longer have the Google logo, or Xbox logo/green box in the smart hub - they are just the default blue now. I tested unhooking the devices and letting TV run it's detection again but alas no dice.

Other than that I havent seen any other noticeable improvements - this is installed on an 82" Q8FN.

I've updated my TV to 1292.1. The game mode still looks terrible - it's very dim and the local dimming offers nothing, leading to lots of blooming with dark scenes. The picture looks incredible in Movie mode however. I was wondering if anyone in this thread has access to equipment to perform input lag tests. I've noticed some users seem to believe that input lag has gone significantly down outside of game mode - this would be great news considering how good the non 'game mode' image appears. Can anyone test the input lag of movie mode at 4k 60hz with HDR (with most 'enhancements' like contrast enhancer off)? It would be nice to know that using movie mode is suitable.

Obviously, the most ideal scenario would be Samsung fixing game mode. I've complained on their forums, but they seem to want to send a technician to my house, which I'm convinced would fix nothing and waste both of our time.

Same here. I posted on samsung support (where numerous other people have) with pictures, and called samsung. They sent a tech to the house, and he was willing to replace the main board (to get a different firmware) but he had to first call samsung and get the ok from them. He called in front of me and the samsung guy was rude and laughed and said we arent authorizing anything for this.

I switched the TV to standard mode (I use movie for everything else) and it looks incredible. Better colors, ZERO blooming, and high brightness. I notice no lag whatsoever in the few games I have played.

Do yourself a favor and take it out of game mode and dont bother with samsung. They dont care and wont fix anything. I am getting an OLED once the ps5 comes out.

Anyone on 1292 notice any weird brightness dimming? In movie mode watching netflix, when the scene changes to a brightish scene, it is very obviously dimming down the scene.

Not sure it has done this before? I think I would have noticed it since I am noticing it now?

Local dimming high, backlight 36, no contrast enhancer, movie mode.

Why is my option to update greyed out? Not that I want to run the update, but not sure why it’s not available to click on or not?

I performed a factory reset on my TV last night after updating, and I believe it might have resolved the game mode blooming issues. Please try and see if that helps!

Can anyone confirm if the 1292.1 has local dimming in game-mode now? They removed it a few updates and ago. Not only that, the brightness was gimped. Anything change?

I am not at the house currently to check the version number, but I definitely have the latest version of the firmware that is available to download from the TV. It's awful! The local dimming is waaaaay too aggressive. The screen flickers like crazy when it's a dark scene. Trying to watch The Outsiders on HBO and some scenes are like watching a strobe light.

I wish this local dimming crap could be turned off! I would gladly sacrifice black levels for not having a flashing screen. 😔

I don't have a copy of 1153.3, but I'm running 1202.3 (North America), build date November 30, 2018, and have a copy of the upgrade.msd file, if that would help you out. Just remember that once you update you can't roll back with your existing main board.

Here is what my 1202.3 info.txt file looks like:

TV doesnt recognize the french firmware as an update, guess its only for the european 2018 QLEDs. I know the korean firmware DOES work on our sets, so i'll keep an eye out for a new firmware there.

I don't initially notice anything different. The lack of release notes is so lame. The strobing of the various zones is distracting. I am getting a lot of HDCP 2.2 errors when viewing Roku content (The Fox Now app, HBO Now app, etc.) I wish I could go back to the first few firmware releases for this set. Samsung has ruined it and I don't have time to troubleshoot everything for Samsung and Roku. I don't understand how they can screw up HDMI HDCP with every update. Get it right. Set it and don't F it up again. Is that so hard?

Going to install 1294.1.

Versions in 129X.X have been worse than previous ones, shall see how this goes with 1294.1
There were some improvements in 1292.3 but some basics were still broken like dimming in game-mode and HDMI fit-to-screen not working for PC source. Those thing were OK in 1270-1280 firmwares.

I have the European 55" Q8DN. Will report how well 1294.1 works.

EDIT: HDMI scaling (fit to screen) still broken for PC source... after further testing I noticed no difference to the earlier release.
