Question

Hi,

i would like to ask if anybody has the same experience regarding q8 and atmos sound over ARC (or even eARC, as states in the link below):

https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/...ght/true#M8309

Could anybody confirm there is a change regarding atmos processing when using last Q8/9 firmware update released in 01/2019?
I would like to buy Denon x4500h (with eARC feature), so any confirmation/declination would be great.
I know ARC should not support Atmos, so any info regarding new firmware and atmos would be great as well.

BTW, There is a petition regarding DTS support and Samsung QLED 2018 models.
So if anyone would like to support it: http://chng.it/wDmXfk9BDh (English version is at the bottom of the page)
Thanks.

So better to go with the 75" instead of the 82" due to ghosting?

Stand Measurement?

My dad's 900e might be bricked after a software update. Thankfully I got a geek squad protection plan so I'm looking at other options and think I've settled on the Q8. However I need to know the width of the stand on the 65 inch before pulling the trigger. Any 65 inch owners have measurements?

Hi,
I have Q8dn. Do you mean width from left stand to the right stand? If so,
I can measure it in the evening when at home.

When calibration is done with a set, a TV shown at perfection to the calibrators eyes are present. Some people do not like that look and can be adjusted in many ways, the only person that is right is the owner of the set

The feet on my Q8FN65 are approximately 43" apart.

Hi everyone I know it might sounds like an old story but I would appreciate any advice. I owned a Samsung NU8000 which I decided to replace with a Sony X900f. My preferred use is for movies in a dark room. The Sony works well but there are some blooming issues although I occurred a professional calibration. Reading here and there I learned that the Samsung Q8 doesn't show these issues and that it would work better for movies in a dark room. I am still in time to return the Sony and get the Samsung for $300 more. Is it worthwhile? Thank you so much in advance

Hello all new owner here. I had read a few weeks back that the Q8s would be getting software support for Apple iTunes library content. Does anyone know when this update is expected?

Hello,

I've got several issues regarding smart remote control during last days with Q8DN.
It seems like remote/tv is lagging somehow sometimes (only remote commands, everything else is working as expected).
Sometimes I had to push RC buttons several times and the commands are executed after a while (even several seconds). Seems like commands are waiting in some queue or something like that.
Sometimes when I push volume up 2-3 times quickly, the volume will grow up rapidly to 50 or even more and I couldn't stop it anyhow.
Sometime the RC is not working at all and I have to re-pair it using back + play/pause button on the RC.
Unfortunately even the pairing is failing quite often (I had to pair 2-3 times to get paired once).

It workse after then, but only several seconds/minutes/hours (vary differently).

I have exchanged batteries several times, but without any permanent resolution.
To investigate it a little bit more, I have found there is a problem when connecting to wifi as well (i have used only ethernet cable before).
I had to try 3 times to get connected to the wifi and I am sure the pwd was the correct one.

The TV is working as expected when controlling using android app (IP interface).

The TV is under warranty, but I would like to avoid to send it to the repair service.
Thanks for any hints regarding this.

P.S.: I have the last fw update ( ver 1202.3)

Just took delivery and had wall mounted yesterday 82in Q8FN.
The screen seems super reflective like a mirror. Isn't this model supposed to have an effective anti-reflective coating ? I checked to see if there was a protective layer that needs to be removed but don't see it. Any help would be appreciated.

I mounted mine a little higher & have it tilted down a bit. Hopefully your mount offers this?

Hey, mine did have a plastic protective sheet over the entire screen. In the upper left hand corner of the screen I believe was a plastic tab wrapped around the frame from which I could start to remove it. There may have been a corresponding tab on the upper right corner as well.

Hope this helps.

WRAL CHANNEL 5

If you’d like to catch a glimpse of what regular ATSC 3.0 broadcasts could bring, install the WRAL CHANNEL 5 app available on the Samsung M9500/M8500 BDPs. In it you’ll find samples from their 4K stream.

Hello everyone, Please delete or redirect me if I am in the wrong thread. I have a new Q8FN. I am new to the world of understanding how uniformity can affect the panel. These pictures were taken with my phone while using the Spears and Munsil Bluray and some test mp4s I found online. I will have my wife take more professional pictures of the screen soon but in the meantime, is this uniformity ok? I have noticed the coloration difference on the left side of the screen in content and I hoped to not see it in these test images but it appears it is there as well. I have also not calibrated white balance or greyscale only recommended brightness and contrast numbers. Is this common? Should I have better uniformity? Should I exchange the TV? Thank you

Alan

Late to the party, but just ordered a 75" Q8. I currently have a decent 3 year old 60" Vizio M60-C3 which is 4k, but no HDR. I built a house and the viewing distance increased by a couple feet and the 60" was feeling so small. I should have known it wasn't going to be as simple as just buying a new 75" 4k. After lots and lots of hours, I had it narrowed down to the Sony x900f and this Q8fn. I viewed them both dozens of times at BestBuy and was always drawn to the slightly more saturated Samsung. The only thing holding me back was the fact that I watch NFL from Sept-Feb and wasn't sure I if I would regret not having the sweet motion on the Sony. After watching lots of action sports on the Samsung, I decided although it wasn't as good that I could live with it. Given all the other wins for the Q8 over the x900f, it was a decision I could make. I got an insane deal on a NIB unit that I couldn't pass up. Looking forward to getting this set and dialing in the settings for everything. If you haven't seen the Quantum Apotheosis youtube channel, I recommend checking it out for really good Q8 info/settings/tips. Thanks to you guys as well for all the discussion!

He has around 5 setting mode for each type of programming your using. They work for me especially sports and video games.

Does anyone else own the 82" version of the Q8FN ? I would like to get your opinion on how well this set handles reflections. In daylight viewing mine seems to be a mirror. I'm coming from a 70" Sharp aquos which had more of a matte finish and seemed to handle reflections better. The Q8FN is supposed to be the best LED TV on the market for reflections per RTINGS.com.

I’m in a stickey wicket since 1.) not a huge fan of Samsung from recent years and haven’t looked at their TVs in a loooonnnng time. 2.) QLED looks terrible in stores, but that’s torch mode. 3.) I feel 55” is a sweet spot for my downstairs, viewing distance between 6-10ft, 6ft when gaming (in my old man wanna be young gaming chair) and about 8-10ft when watching a movie.

With all that said I know 65” is what is what comes up when looking at 4K viewing distances, but money comes into play plus 65” would be a waste if gaming at 5-6ft.

This leads me to this...does one get a 55” Q8F now since they are sub 1300$ right now OR wait for the new 55” Q80R which would have to be purchased around Black Friday due to price drops. I don’t really NEED a tv right this minute but would be nice to have a great tv to not only game but get great game lag.

My ultimate goal is OLED but LG motion is eh and Sony just too expensive for practically the same thing. I’ve owned plasma so burn in is not really a concern since I only Game for 1-2 hours at a time with Xbox which may switch to PC anyway soon.

Bad time to want a tv. Either stuck with 2018 tech or all the new goodies but not good prices

What do you have your backlight set at? Try increasing the number that made a huge difference for me.
