Last time I used the ESPN app last year to watch a game the streaming quality was horrible. The motion was a stuttery mess. If they’ve improved it I’d try it again. I really don’t have any complaints with the quality of my directv feeds though.

In reviewing the feedback comments on the BB website for the 55R615, there have been 6 [six] reports of the tv randomly turning off repeatedly. These reports are from the last month or so from recent purchases.

But how much of that is from people not having HDMI-CEC setup properly with their devices?

My 65" has been fine but I do notice 2 vertical bars top to bottom in lighter colored panning scenes, rubbing the screen with a cloth seems to be helping. Livable but I still want an OLED

OLEDs can have vertical banding problems as well. Some have been really bad.

No need for a heater with that.
That is a huge con, from their massive power usage.
Not to mention that it's only HD. Another gigantic negative.
And of course the possibility of burn in.

when I'm watching Dolby Vision Netflix on the Roku platform, I see motion interpolation. Unmistakably. And the motion settings are grayed out, so I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Best Buy has the 65 inch 6 series for 930, and the 55's are 550...For those checking in that have been on the fence...

I’m a huge sports fan and the only reason I don’t want all ESPN events on the app ON APPLE TV 4K is that I pause and fast forward frequently. But the PQ on the Apple TV is incredible and exceeds 1080p because it is upconverted by Apple TV. I have the TCL65R15 in the bedroom and keep forgetting to check out the ESPN app there to see if Roku upconverts as well.

Does this mean my tv is dead? One week old. Went to change inputs and it started glitching. Reset and unplugged and now this is all I get.

Faulty or loose hdmi, most likely.

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking too. Unplugged everything and even with no inputs the screen is buggy. Menus don’t come up and it’s a bad sign when the tv suddenly starts to audibly read out all the menu options to you. Taking her down and back. So do I go 65 or look to spend more for another brand even though it’s only a stop gap tv?

I had the same exact issue on the 2nd day I had it. I took it back to Best Buy and got another one and have not had that issue again.

I called tech support and they couldn't help.

Just wanted to confirm if headphone jack works when using the $30 enhanced remote available at the roku store (Model RC193 )with the 6 series. Some posters had mentioned the headphone jack on the remote doesn't work with the 6 series. Thanks

I have the RC-193 remote. I can hear the Roku apps audio through the headset but not my OTA audio. I have the 55 inch 6 series.

Thanks for the info. Glad it works with the Roku apps. Do you know if devices attached to the TV’s HDMI inputs (such as cable box, Blu-ray player) have audio on the headphone jack on the remote control? Thanks so much.

Thanks for the reassurance. Just returned it at Best Buy. Got the 6 inch since and added a 2 year warranty since it was $70 off the 65.

You should have the same options as when viewing content from an HDMI input. You just can't change anything until streaming a video.

I have the 55" version of the 6-series

Does anyone else have any issues with HD content? I'm with Dish and some of the HD channels look like crap on the TV. Sports (only football so far) is really bad, on closeups faces look pretty good but when the camera is back from the field to watch a play things are blurry.

I've tried all the different modes (Sport, normal...) and nothing really seems to help.

One caveat to this is that last Thursday nights game was on Amazon and I watched it there and it seemed slightly better. So I guess it could be how much compression Dish is using.

Should I be looking at TV settings or cables or what?

HD content from our Xbox One X seems great but those are only games.

Tack (Swedish for Thanks),
Kevin
None of the picture modes I have used is perfect, but the "SPORTS" picture mode helped noticeably along with turning on the LED Motion Clarity.

Have you tried to turn off noise reduction via the Roku app? After setting up my 65 I noticed that closeups during football games was fine but field shots would have blurry players. Turned off noise reduction in the app and all looks better

Just a thought.

This should be one of the first things to turn off. Unfortunately you can only access the noise reduction setting from the app and not directly on the TV.

Of course the OTA or cable system makes a difference. Comcast converts everything to low bitrate 720P. And FiOS has been reducing their quality the last few years. And most OTA stations have added a bunch of sub-channels, leaving much lower bandwidth for the main channel.

I know in my area, my OTA HD recordings I have from 2001 to 2004 put to shame anything broadcast over OTA or cable now.

My experience with watching football games was identical to yours in that the close-ups were fine but shots from a distance were terrible. As I said recently, using the Sports mode and turning on LED Motion Clarity helped considerably.

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't know what you guys mean when you say that you have to turn off "noise reduction" by accessing it through the Roku app. Can you please explain how I would do that?

Download the Roku app to your phone or ipad. Enable wifi on your phone/ipad. Your tv and phone/ipad must be on the same wireless network. (If your TCL TV is hard wired to ethernet, you may have to temporarily switch to wifi on the TV. Many report it works on ethernet as well) Then start streaming from a source or launch OTA TV. Once you have done that the app will allow you to adjust gamma and noise reduction settings.

you don't have to switch the tv from wired to wireless as they are on the same network. wifi uses the same router as wired. all my tv's are wired and i communicate with them via the app with my iphone or ipad.
