Note I wrote that the tv volume control works when you're connected to the headphone port on the tv itself. When you're using the app the phone's volume control takes precedence.

Does your viewing setup not allow the option of wired headphones? With closed headphones (wired or wireless) you should be able to get the highest volume outside of using an amplifier or AV receiver.

What does everyone think of Natural Cinema when it comes to watching Blu-ray and UHD discs? I noticed that it is on by default when the TV is set to "movie" mode. I tinkered with it some but couldn't tell much of a difference.

Tried watching Suspiria on Amazon. It is way too dark, could hardly see a darn thing.
I also noticed that the subtitles (When they speak German) are white but have a red highlight around them. I'm sure this is an Amazon problem. Either way Suspiria is unwatchable.

It would be a hindrance. As I said, I’m lying down much of the time and only use one earbud for convenience.

Hey everyone. My 65r615 will be delivered tomorrow , hoping I don't get a dud with screen issues.

That said... Without me going through this entire thread, could someone direct me to a calibration thread?

I did search , but quickly on my phone. I'll look again tomorrow morning.

Super excited , and hoping everything goes ok... I did NOT get the warranty. But have 2 weeks to add it , if I want to , or I SHOULD

ANY. Info is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Ahhh , thank you! Just trying to get everything lined up. Should be here in about 4 hours.. can't wait.

How are you liking yours?

Also. I don't have a PS4 pro of uhd player yet , I was able to sell my 4-year-old Vizio yesterday, for a price that I couldn't pass up, and with mostly good reviews, I figured it was a good time to get a 4K set. So where can a get some good 4khdr content to test everything out? I have YouTube premium, Netflix , and Amazon .. or even little demos that show off 4k hdr

Asking me to update to OS9 again to see if the issues were fixed. But it had updated on it's own thirty hours ago without me realizing it. And everything has been working without any issues. The ATV 4K is sending DV properly. And I see the DV is working from my Xbox too. And I'm not having any audio issues from my VTEN or Netgear streamers either. I would have never known it had updated if I hadn't checked the system info screen.
So I am very pleased.

Now I can log into all my apps again and re-enter the calibration info. I didn't want to go through all of that in case I needed to reset the TV again. So I left it on many of it's defaults and had only logged into a few apps for testing.
Interesting, my issues re-appeared after the 9.1 update... What is your OS version for your ATV 4k? I'm on 12.3

I find most of the best demos are on YouTube. Search for "hdr" and "dolby vision". YouTube also has the HDR Channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCve...GBI5t9g/videos And, the Dolby Vision Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/DolbyInsider

For Netflix you have to subscribe to the top tier to get 4K/HDR/Dolby. I like "Our Planet" to show off Dolby Vision there. "Planet Earth II" is dazzling in HDR. "Daredevil" and "Lost in Space" are also good for HDR.

Amazon only has a couple of Dolby items. Everything else is HDR. I like "Grand Tour" best there for showing off HDR, especially the most recent seasons. You can also watch "Planet Earth II" here in HDR.

Try "The HDR Channel" on Youtube. They have a lot of demo worthy HDR content.

Use the Dolby and 4K channels from Roku channel store. I think they are already preinstalled on the tv.

i dodn't find any Dolby Atmos demo's in the Dolby channel which is really a bad omission.

There are a bunch of DOlby Atmos Demos from the Dolby app on the TCL TV. I've watched/listened to them multiple times. All the Dolby demos are streamed. They aren't installed on the TV. At least they aren't with my TCL.

I mean the Roku channel. Yes the actual content will keep changing and will be streamed - its just a streaming front end. Good way to show off your new tv!

Thanks for the info everyone..

Well I got it all set up and the picture is pretty damn nice. But it's not even night time yet and I haven't done that interpolation or banding test And I can still already see I have black vertical lines. So it's a panel lottery fail for me... I'll take some pictures tonight when the room is dark, And then throw up a white screen to check for sure.. Best buy had one model left on the floor.. so hopefully they can deliver that to me and then take this one back when they deliver the new one??

Also the picture is very nice and bright, But everything does look a little red so I have to play with the settings a bit... Is there no 11-point scale, or any other technical options to change the colors? It just looks like pretty much the basic brightness sharpness, a few color modes etc , and a few motion adjustment settings.

so if I said something on the TV when I'm watching it do those settings transfer over to the Roku screen/store?

You need the Roku APP to change 11 point. I use the Android app.

"There are some settings that are only available via the mobile Roku apps. The Roku app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded via either the Apple App Store or via Google Play store. For more in for on the Roku app itself, you can access this page. To access those setting, you need to go to the 'Setting' tab, and then go to 'Expert Picture Settings'."

Sorry. You're right that Planet 2 isn't HDR. It is in 4k. I'm not sure how up to date this list is but it gives you all the 4k-HDR-DV content on Amazon Prime.

I also watched planet earth on a normal non HDR 1080p tv....looks just as good. Pity they can't do same quality with all shows...but then again, that would defeat the purpose of buying a 4k HDR tv...

Yeah my tv started having a weird issue this weekend. Once HDR is enabled from the Xbox or PS4 and I exit said application HDR will remain on until I reboot the system. It’s driving me insane I’m guessing I will do a factory reset. Has anyone ran into this issue?

Just spent 45 minutes on the phone with NF... Backend support said they are aware of Atmos issue and are working with TCL to resolve. Asked for a update as to progress was told they can't do that. So wait and see...

anyone compare the tcl 65 six series and sony 900f?
id like the sony because of better upscaling of sdr but its a few hundred more.
also you get more with the tcl. roku, better fald, netflix dolby vision

if youve compared the two, would $700 more for the sony be worth it?

I have a 55” TCL 6 series and a 75” 900F. Personally I don’t think it’s worth that much more. The Sony does have better upscaling and motion overall, but, I’m just as happy watching on my TCL. The TCL is in my bedroom and it performs great in there. It’s not as good as the Sony at reflection handling though.

I would’ve tried the TCL if they had the 75” last year when I got the Sony but it only recently became available.

I feel I am missing something or doing something dumb, I just got the 55" yesterday from BB. My mom had the same tv and I loved the picture. But when I set it up, I don't think I am getting anything in HD let alone UHD. My tivo hooked up straight to TV gives me 480P it looks like. movies I recorded and viewed on my old tv that played in 1080i look like crap. I run my PS4 straight to the tv, I ran them straigh to the TFV as I am not sure my receiver does 4K passthru. FIrst UHD disc did not play thru receiver, plays twhen hooked straight to tv, but tdoes not even look 1080p, much less UHD. go to the HDR setting on the PS4 and it tells me my tv does not support HDR. Also, the ARC nor optical output work, they both worked with the old tv. Other than that, loving it.
Any ideas?
thanks

also, if going through your receiver, make sure what your receiver is capable of passing through so, you know what to expect to get through to your tv.

for old legacy 1080p gear, like you said your tivo, i'd use 1.4 setting for that. for a PS4 or a UHD player i'd use 2.0

and as others had mentioned, use a premium certified HDMI cable and i'd say use them whether you have 1.4 or 2.0 needs as you may upgrade and then the cable is already in place. get them from monoprice as they are dirt cheap no need to spend a fortune.
