Just be aware that the TCLs are in the brightly lit main showroom area, often high up on the wall in among the other "budget" offerings. You're not going to get a Magnolia demo of a 6-series, at least not in any BB I've been in.

Having been to look at my local one this weekend, I still think this is the LCD at the top of my list. All the mid-range FALD sets from everyone look damn similar PQ-wise. There's very little to choose between them for me except price and interface, and maybe inputs. And at much more than the price of the TCL, I'm starting to look at OLED despite having some misgivings about that technology.

Yes. Out of the three Best Buys I visited last year, only one had the 6 Series down on the lower level.

49TB unRAID1a--53TB unRAID2--72TB unRAID3
TCL 6 Series--Sony UBP-X800--Philips BDP7502--Onkyo HT-S7800

My local Best Buy has the 6 series up high and their standard Best Buy advertisement feed going into it. My little brother is thinking about getting it and was going with him today to look at it.

I may be one of the odd men out but I haven't looked at / compared televisions in a store since 2004 when I bought my Mitsubishi 65" rear-projection unit. I went with online reviews from actual users as well as established press in addition to my positive experience with a TCL 32" I bought in 2010 (and still run in the master bedroom) in making my choice of the TCL 65S615.

As an aside I didn't seeing paying more for the "enhanced" remote with the 65S617 when the free Roku smartphone app provides all the enhancement I need or want.

On a different note I watched a free movie on the Roku channel today and noted the volume was much lower than what I get with OTA broadcast stations. Odd that....

Since I bought my TCL; in comparison to Xfinity or Comcast. Very noticeable to me and several others in this thread. Hulu an Amazon are worse that other apps.

I see one person who got a TCL this month. I will get mine in early July, but should I hold out for the TCL 6 with MiniLED?

Should cost the same. So im guessing around 1500 to 1700.

Oh it says $1800
"Like the other models, it will support HDR10 and Dolby Vision, and be based on the Roku OS with access to apps such as Netflix and HBO. TCL says that it will cost $1800." But this was in Jan 2018.

Technological improvements will continue no matter what and when you buy. I long ago decided that waiting for the next new thing didn't make a lot of sense unless it was a gigantic leap forward. Better was simply to buy when my needs became acute!

My vintage 2004 Mitsubishi 65" RPTV simply got to the point where it's 1080i max resolution and lack of modern connectivity like HDMI became too much. With the 65" series 6 going for $699, it was too good to pass up.

I have the Samsung NU8000. It's a great tv, however I am always looking for something better. Do you think I should pick up this tv? I hear so much crap and the panel lottery on the 6 series. I was looking to get the 55 inch version. Yes I know the 65 inch is a steal right now but I cant afford it. What do you guys and gals think?. What's great about the Smasung is that it saves your picture settings and it has VRR if your a gamer which I am. The use would be 50 movies/50 games. Another plus of the Samsung it has a browser and the TCL doesnt. I am torn here. Maybe I will wait for the Hisense H9F that's coming out. It has more zones then the TCL and they are claiming 1000 nit brightness all for $699 for the 55 inch.

Well after almost a month with it, I love my 65". Finally worked up the nerve to try the hockey player Dirty Screen Effect on youtube and all seems fine. I'm using the picture quality settings from rtings, though I have yet to install the phone ap and dive deeper into the advanced settings. Might do that this weekend.

I know the Nintendo Switch is not a gaming powerhouse, but I can't get over the way the colors pop. Mario Kart, Kirby Star Allies, and Yoshi's Crafted World all look stunning. Bright, vibrant, and detailed and you have to love the low input lag in game mode. Gaming on the TCL is so much better than my Panasonic Plasma, and that TV kept me very happy for 7 years.

In terms of 4k movies on disc, Blade Runner 2049 is stunning. Pacific Rim is also an absolute knock out in terms of picture quality. In Aquaman, when they first fly into Atlantis, wow. The movie itself might not be perfect, but those visuals are just incredible. Alien: Covenant- when they do a spacewalk to fix the solar sails, and later when they fly down and land- all beautiful. Oblivion (Tom Cruise 2013) also has reference level visuals.

Two movies that I love and have seen many times on Blu-ray- Ex Machina and Arrival- definitely look better on 4k discs, but both movies tend to be dark, with muted colors. So those might not blow you away with over the top visuals, but they still look great. In Ex Machina, when they venture outside the lab, the shots of the huge glacier field and the mountains and the woods do look amazing.

As for streaming, so far I only have 1080 on Netflix and Hulu and HBO Go. Need to upgrade my internet data cap before going 4k. But still, everything I've watched has looked amazing- Blue Planet II and One Strange Rock are beautiful.

My old Blu-rays also look better on the new TCL vs the old Panasonic.

So yeah, I'm a happy customer.

That initially gave me cause for pause but I'm hooking my computer graphics card (capable of up to 7680 x 4320 @ 60Hz resolution which exceeds the TV's max resolution) to my TCL via a long HDMI cable to solve this issue. My browsing will be done on my computer with the same screen fed to both my 24" computer monitor and the TCL. You said you're a gamer so I would assume you have an upscale graphics card that is capable of handling multi-monitors as well.

I guess it's a matter of perception. For me the mini-LED business is an incremental improvement and not a game changer.

Does TCL have any plans to released their 8K 8-Series this summer ? If they had the TCL 75 at 1800 I'm willing to bet the price on the 8K at 75inches is no more than 2,500 which is still one helluva deal.

I meant that I game on my Xbox One S and my PS4 slim. I dont have a pc. So yeah if I had a pc then browser wouldnt be a problem. Cause I like to stream new movies that havent even come out yet online so If I went to the TCL I would lose that and that's another negative for me unfortunately 😣

Buy the enhanced RF remote directly from TCL $30. It has a headphone jack and also adds voice command capability.

For me, the enhanced remote responds faster. It talks directly to the TV, not through your local network. Also, the voice commands work much more reliably. Bought the enhanced remote directly from TCL for $30

Are the 8 Series 4K TVs also releasing I. July? I only ask because I’ll be looking for a new TV soon.

So far on my list are the following:
65” Vizio M8 and P Series Quantum Series
65” Hisense H9F
65” TCL 6 or 8 Series

That's talking about the 75" 6-series. We have no information on what the 8-series will cost, but it will probably be a lot more.

If you have an NU8000 and can't afford the 65" TCL, you should probably stick to the NU8000 and wait for something even better to come along. It's not like you're coming from a 2015 TV. Wait until you no longer call your TV great before replacing it.

I wanted assurances from Roku that this remote would pair with my TCL65R-615. Finally got it by going through Twitter and it took about 8 tweets to get that assurance. Customer service at Roku is of ATT quality or even less. I could have got a Roku premier player with remote (doesn’t say if it has a headphone jack) for only $10 more which just doesn’t make sense.

And before I get jumped about this being a TCL thread, this is definitely related for the remotes that come from TCL. Their HQ are in China and are not user friendly. Has anyone used the TCL customer service?

BTW, IMO Vizio still builds a better TV with better PQ than TCL but lacks the headphone jack in remote and the Roku interface which is great. I think Apple (with dictatorship wisdom) has determined a low max volume is going through their phone headphone jacks(which are going away anyway). And the Bluetooths I have tried have the same situation.

So if you have serious hearing impairment, you are being engineered out of the game. Doesn’t make sense unless the lawsuit happy American consumers have been suing them for ALLOWING them to listen to music, etc at a high volume.

Hey guys, is there a Twitch app for the Roku TVs or a way to watch Twitch through the TV directly without anything else connected?

Edit: Never mind I see there is a third party app you can buy to watch it and not an official free one.

And before I get jumped about this being a TCL thread, this is definitely related for the remotes that come from TCL. Their HQ are in China and are not user friendly. Has anyone used the TCL customer service?

Plenty of people in this thread have paired the RF remote to the BestBuy TCL. Including me.
