Just became an owner of 65R617, connected via hdmi to my lappy and put a few testing images on and I noticed vignetting issue on all four corners, with the bottom left one being the darkest. I had some mental prep already for this "dark corner" but did not expect to be like this. I will try to snap a few photos later at night, the room I put this tv in has four skylights.
Anyway, this is my first 65 incher, and I understand the uniformity gets harder at larger panel. I had a crappy LG 49uj6290 with bad black uniformity, but did not experience the dark corners this obvious. I also used some gradient color pixs (gray, blue, green) and all of them display some vertical bands when the color gradually change from left to right (darker green to lighter green for example). Is this the "banding" you guys referred to?
I hate to return this (bought it online) and if the vignetting and other stuff are within normal range, I'd just keep it. Thanks in advance.
Here are a few screen pix in dark. I think there are some banding in the gradient images, also I noticed two slightly dark spots/patch when doing the hockey DSE tests viedo on youtube. In uniform solid colors, it looks kinda ok banding wise, but in the gradient color pix, the center portion shows vertical bandings, espeically green/blue/gray
Can you guys give me some comment if this is worth the hassle of exchanging?
