In the 65 size range, I am considering this or the LG 65SK8000PUA . The LG I can get for a few hundred less than the Samsung. I think overall is the Samsung is the better of the two but for $2-300 less is it worth it to go with the LG ? (keep in mind in the 65 range that savings as a larger percentage than when comparing say 82")

I own both the ps4 pro and xbox one x. Most games look slightly better on the xbox one x. Not a huge difference usually just a slight resolution bump. However my rule of thumb since I own both. I purchase multi plats on xbox one x but exclusives on which ever console they are available. Exception to the rule unless I have a friend that will purchase the same game on one console only for multiplayer than I purchase for the same console.

I read some posts on the HDR not being very good on the NU8000 for the 82". I'm wondering if the brightness varies per size as I have the 75" and I think the HDR and peak brightness is pretty good for a mid range TV. I honestly don't have a really high end TV to compare too and I'm sure those are better but mine gets so bright sometimes I have to squint. Only other decent HDR TV that I have is the TCL P series from last year. The NU is definitely brighter. Marvel Avengers Infinity War and the new Battlefield 5 game are some good examples to test. In the beginning of Infinity war with Thanos the infinity stones look incredibly bright and looks amazing. In battlefield the explosions and fire also look incredible and it has almost caught me off guard how bright it can get sometimes. I believe what helps with higher brightness is to use the contrast enhancer. I run it on low on most content specifically games however some movies I will run it between low and high. I really feel it depends on the movie though and I just adjust to what looks better per each film I watch. On games you might have to use the in game adjustments as well to really dial in the HDR. All in all I'm really enjoying this TV. I will say my one gripe is that I have some clouding in the left corner but it is only noticeable with all my lights off in a dark setting and only in some movie scenes.

I’ll try to keep this short since I made a similar post in the tv buying thread.

My situation is that I currently own a 65” Sony X900F and I’m considering exchanging it for a 65” NU8000. My Sony is a great tv but for me, I don’t know that the differences are worth the money. I know all the specs as I’ve read/watched a ton of reviews as well as rtings comparisons. But anytime I watch it, I can’t help but wonder if I’d notice that much of a difference in real world use. I originally did planned to purchase the NU on black Friday for around $1,000, but an employee talked me out of it due to returns and failure rates of the NU.

Anyone here have any experience with the two sets? Have they worked out most of the software kinks and popping? Any opinions or info would be great. Thank you!

Can anyone help me find the Samsung NU8000 55 Inch TV default settings in every menu of its Service Menu.

Someone messed up my TV and now picture is awful!

Thanks in advanced!

Note: as a whole most system resets do NOT affect the SM settings. You'd have to get some one to take pics of the different menus and compare. Unfortunately, I gave each of my kids an NU55NU8000 for Christmas, so the sets are over at their places, so unable to take any photos for you.

82" nu8000 hdr

I am going to add a little fuel to the HDR fire. I have had a 82" NU8000 for over 6 months. I have not been impressed with HDR on this set. I know that HDR by design can be darker on average versus SDR. Because of this some of the blame needs to put on HDR in general.

For Xbox One X, I have turned HDR off on the XBOX. I find each HDR games picture varies widely. I do not want to tweak anything on the set for each specific game.

I have a Panasonic UB400 with the HDR optimizer. That works well for 4K blurays. I do need to change the optimizer for each movie, but its not too bad.

Regarding setting Dynamic Contrast, I do not use it. I find I prefer SDR to HDR with dynamic contrast on. Isn't using dynamic contrast on HDR essentially making an image SDR?

Just curious other Samsung owners thoughts. I do wonder if the 82" is not as bright as the smaller sets, that may effect our perception of HDR.

Download zipped file, extract, and transfer resultant folder to USB stick. Install drive into TV USB Input, and start Upgrade process. TV will query as to look on the USB device - click Yes. (HDR10 + upgrade ?) Note: Samsung's notes re what the upgrade is doing are only generic, and nothing specific.

I ran the automatic update and it didn't update so had to do it via USB drive. Once I did it updated quickly. The first improvement I noticed is now when you hit select on the remote it displays the current resolution. Its nice to see confirmation on the resolution that I'm am using.

It didn't find the new FW when I ran the auto-update either. However, used the method above and transferred FW download from laptop to USB drive, place thumbdrive in TV, went into Settings, then Support, Software Update, and it found the FW on the flashdrive and updated. Was on 1153 and now on 1202.

Not actually owning the sets, but wanting to update my son's set Christmas Eve, and forego the 1 hour update that happened when I first set it up, (VERY SLOW Bell Internet!) I figured I'd better do the download at my place where I have the fast Internet. Was already to take the 1153 out to his place when I noticed the new 1202.3, and so close to the 1153! Downloaded, and thought I'd let you guys know the new FW was available. Now if someone can test if the set does HDR10+.

This firmware fixed an issue many where having with previous firmware. Playing 4k HDR movies in VUDU would cause the sound to drop out every few minutes or mess up. Samsung and Vudu forums had posters bitching about it. Even affected Qled models. Tested earlier with new firmware and issue is resolved and Vudu app is updated too. It was so annoying.

I hooked up my xbox one x to my samsung nu8000 with my denon avr 910s in between using mono price 4k premium cables. I checked my signal on the tv. does this look normal? Or am I missing a setting thats not allowing full 4k signal?

Try connecting the Xbox One X directly to the TV to see if you receive the full 4K signals. If you receive the full signals, then we know the receiver maybe the issue. The it might be a setting in the receiver. Let us know.

Have you tried enabling HDMI UHD colour in the menus?

Try. settings> general> external device manager> hdmi uhd colour. Then you need to check the boxes of the hdmi inputs you want to send 4k hdr through.

Everything should be green except Dolby vision. I had to update my Denon receiver for everything to turn green on the Xbox X. Also do what the above poster mentioned.

I have found the "automatic" function on motion will cause lots of choppy looking motion. I don't use the motion enhancing for movies or games, but I do use it for watching WWE (yes I'm that guy and proud of it). I turn the blur reduction to 10, and dejudder I leave at zero. It creates a very smooth fake fight (I imagine this will look great for football and other sports too).

To make this easier, I keep Natural set with motion controls set as stated above and (standard filter). Movie is set to zero motion and warm2, and I keep movie on and enable game mode for my xbox one x and switch.

Amazon Prime app's UHD shows dark

When I select the UHD version of shows on the Amazon Prime app, they are dark, almost unwatchable. The same non-UHD show is great. I have already turned off the ECO settings and used the rtings.com settings and love the picture, but not when viewing UHD programming from the TV apps.

Any suggestions?

To lighten up HDR shows for amazon, netflix apps.In HDR mode turn backlight and contrast to 50, brightness to 0 or -1 Then local dimming to high and enhanced contrast to low.Thats what I found works the best to fix dark shows in HDR.

Hi guys I was downloading some games on my xbox one x and noticed some very pronounced markings on a full grey/black screens in between load screens, I noticed on full white screens too. Is this normal? I'm wondering if I need to call samsung, not noticeable during movie or game play back but it doesnt seem normal. A movie with snows scenes might be noticeable. I want to make sure this is not a defect. Please see pics...
