Just google "best bluray player" and you'll find the xbox in a lot of the best lists. Its below the x700 and x800 but again it depends on your quality needs. In theory SW players can be improved to match or beat any HW players.

Xbox One X is better since it plays 4k games but the One S is much cheaper.

Good luck!

+1 for the X Box One S as a 4k player. It works well and is compatible with the NU (except for Dolby Vision). One "downside" is that you need to know the basics of getting around the Xbox to play a movie - my wife hates it, she just wants a simple unit that she can click one button and whola...

So I just set up the movie for her and she is happy.

Note that while the One S does not play native 4K games (it upscales 1080P) is still looks pretty amazing!

That's a good idea, but there aren't any for sale near my house.

Thank you, that's the confirmation that I was looking for. The URC is very adaptable, and as long as the TV has an IR window it should work then.

Did my 2018 Samsung NU8000 just break?

Hey All,

I have a Samsung NU8000 that just turned itself off. Once I turned it back on, the picture is much darker on the top 25% of the screen. Is there anything I can do to try to fix this? The TV is still under warranty but I didn't want to mess with that if there is something quick I can do.

That's odd since your edge-lit TV has all the LEDs at the bottom so all the zones are vertical columns.

Seems like its screwed up, doesn't hurt to unplug it for a couple min try again, maybe factory reset if it persists after that I wouldn't hesitate to have it serviced while still within warranty.

Thanks for the tip. I did the factory reset and it went away. Went to watch some TV and it's back. Looks like the problem is the cable box and not the TV. Really appreciate the tip to help me solve the problem!

For your wife consider getting a harmony remote. I use my harmony one remote to control the xbox.

I have one that used to be in my old theatre room but have not set it up yet (Harmony Ultimate Hub or something similar).. she hated using it as well Seems that I can't win, she enjoys simple things I guess (which is why she married me! )

Hello to all!

I got my 65NU8000 few days ago. TV is great but i have one small issue. I watch my media files form two USB Flash Drives (one with cartoons for my kid and another with TV shows/movies form my wife and me.
I added them to my Home tab as I like quick access and switchung between them, but after I turn off TV and turn it on again they disappear from Home tub and I have to select them again in Source button.
Any way to make them stay on permanently?

Does anyone have any idea why samsung is not auto detecting devices attached to it, it used to detect my ps4, and after unplugging and plugging the hdmi cable in and such, it no longer see's it as a ps4, just says unknown, therefore auto game mode is not selectable as an option. This was working fine, no idea why it wont detect the ps4 anymore.

Anyone know if the new RU8000 is any better or worse than this model? Can barely find any information on it aside from the fact it's edge lit and has about a 6300~:1 contrast ratio, which is about 1k higher than the NU.

The RU8000 is dimmer, and (as far as I know) does not have local dimming. It also seems to be priced lower than the NU8000 was at launch, so I think it's not really intended to be a direct equivalent to the NU8000. However, the early reviews of the RU8000 have been decent in terms of general image quality (except for the lower level of brightness). I would guess that the RU8000 would probably be fine for SDR but probably not do so well with HDR content.

Edit: I do hope the RU8000 doesn't have the clicking/popping/ticking noise issue that seemed to affect quite a few owners of the NU8000

I sold my 82NU8000 a month ago and now I got the 82Q70R at home.
So my advice : for those who watch only TV with the lights ON or during daytime,it should be fine..blacks levels are excellent on the NU8000 and image is popping like it should.
But if you watch TV mainly during nighttime or in a pitch black room, forget about the NU8000 as it is edge lit and it has a lot of flashlighting and some horrible ghosting...it’s night and day in a pitch black room with the FALD Model.
Very happy with the Q70👍

May 17th update on my 3rd 55NU8000, 10 days after buying it. At this very moment I have to admit I'm extremely pleased overall. I initially had the popping noise for a few days but over the last week have maybe heard 4 or 5 in total. I'm quite happy with the settings I'm using and the contrast on this CA05 panel appears to be better than what I was seeing on the previous FB04 panel with the same firmware and settings. I still wish there was a way to rollback to an earlier firmware, 1153 specifically, just to see if the video quality has been downgraded like some people have mentioned. But in saying that I'm quite satisfied with 1251.

I also feel the blacks are just fine when watching movies in a dark room with very little blooming. I'm sure on larger sets it might be more noticeable but on this 55" it's totally acceptable. The LED strip backlighting I'm using also helps in making any blooming less noticeable. Once again I've got my fingers crossed that this set (3rd time lucky) remains the way it is because in my opinion there's no other set under a grand here in Canada that comes close to the overall performance of the NU8000, especially when it comes to DSE and vertical banding, and I wouldn't even consider the RU8000 as I'd be spending an extra $300 for basically no real improvements. I hope for new buyers though that at least the popping noise issue has been corrected for the RU models.

I bought the 65 but had to return it due to uniformity issues with bad DSE and motion issues.. However, the upscaling was fantastic and as good as my plasma even with 480i input. Dont get panel AD06. Some folks say the CC panels are better than the F panels. (See versions on side of box). The Nu8000 has poor viewing angles

Unlike my projector which needs high quality content 1080p or better, the Nu for upscaling is great. Deep Deep blacks. Bummer I got a bad panel (center 1/3 of screen is slightly darker). Notice on hockey or soccer games.

I have a 65NU8000 since August 2018. Overall I like the TV but there are some weird things that happen...

Most recently (last week or so) the tv will randomly just turn off and back on again by itself. Its only off for maybe 1-2 seconds but I have no idea what's triggering this or what to do to fix it?

unplug the TV for 20 minutes. Then replug.

Also check your firmware. It may not auto update. You can get update directly at samsung and use usb drive to load.

I had the same issue with the 1251 update, but since I don't use it I disabled the Anynet+ setting in the General and External Device Manager menu and since then have had no issue. I realize it won't help if you do use Anynet+ but the TV hasn't turned off and on since disabling it. That's all I can suggest for now unfortunately.

Best Buy Floor Model - Samsung NU8000

I just finally upgraded from my Panasonic P42G10 to an open box, floor/store demo Samsung NU8000 49". I opened up the service menu and found out it has 262 DAYS of on time! I did buy the Best Buy protection plan for 5 years, and the TV doesn't have any visible issues, but what are the downsides to having a TV that has been on for so long?

The time display in the NU8000 service menu is in minutes, so are you saying it has 377,280 minutes of usage time? If so, that's equivalent to about 4 or 5 years of average screen time. So I hope you got one heck of a deal.

I just got a 65" NU8000 from Newegg and a Denon x1500H from Amazon. I connect an Amazon Fire Cube to input 1 of the denon and the Denon monitor out connected to Samsung HDMI 4 (ARC). I then get No Signal on the Samsung. Take the same hdmi cable and move it to the Samsung HDMI 1 and get the 4k signal with a note about Optimizing The Settings in External Devices menu. ARC works to the Denon now.

What am I missing to allow the Fire Cube to go thru the Denon then to the Samsung?

Hi rysmithjr, on the Denon set 4K Signal Format to "Enhanced" under Video menu...default is "Standard".

Settings > Video > 4K Signal Format > Enhanced

Also Denon recommend using a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable that has an “HDMI Premium Certified Cable” label.

A few points about the TV. The viewing angle is very very very limited for maximum quality. The best spot is dead center. Sitting on the couch seat right or left will make a slight difference but more major in sports.

As a result of the reset, my panel is looking better. The center is not as dark as before. There is some DSE but it pretty light. For Hockey, there is a proper balance since an all white background is tough on the eyes. adding more light in the room helps as well.

this Tv works great in light rooms...my plasma requires a dark room to maximize.

No ticking...so I think I keep it. I have a 7 year free warranty with Costco...so if the panel fails....I am totally covered.

The blacks on this panel are just incredible....even as good or better than my plasma.
Can you tell me more about the whole settings?

I contacted Samsung. They told me to disconnect everything from the TV. Then turn off the TV while on by pulling the power plug. Then let it rest for a few minutes. Then connect everthing,

Interesting...I thought the technician was crazy...but the large DSE pattern in the center is almost completely gone.

My whites are back to pure whites in the center,

In addition, I decided not to use my roku but the built in apps for youtubetv.

So far so good. I got 90 days to return...thanks to Costco. Looks like a keeper for sure.

I might recommend doing the same thing. Turn off the TV by killing the power at the plug not the TV remote.

Not perfect like my plasma...which has perfect

There is update to the software which I am waiting for. I have 1204 but I think some motion stuff needs a bit more fixing. I get some stuttering

Thinking of all those OLED folks that spent a fortune on their TV only to have banding and burn in... Before I buy my 75 inch...I wait until somone can make the perfect Tv.
I will try it and tell you what happend so the tv is on i should unplug the power from behind the tv and let it for 10 mins right ?!
