Someone from the new Vizio PQX thread posted a pic of a frame from the movie Avatar. I took the same pic from my 75NU8000 and you can see the differences. The PQX washes the colors and the NU8000 shows all the details. I found it very interesting and wanted to share it with you. Although the NU8000 does not reach the high level of pick brightness of the Vizio (about 3K nits) in my opinion it looks much better. Brighter does not always mean better and movies in the theater never look that bright anyway....... What is your opinion?

What's your panel version number listed on the side of the box? I had very noticeable static-type clicking noises with CA01 and FB04, both of which I returned, but so far CA05 has been much better in that regard but the clicking noise does still occur at times, just not nearly as often. So at the moment it's tolerable for me. No TV out there is going to be perfect especially the way they're mass produced these days.

I have that darn clicking too. I think i read somewhere that it could help to loosen some screws on back of tv? I looked but didn'd see any at the back, just two screws at the bottom of the bezel. Did anyone try this?

I've tried loosening the 4 screws when mounting it on the stand but didn't do anything in diminishing the clicking noise. For a while I thought I had figured it out by disabling Instant On in the service menu but the clicking came back a few days later. It honestly boggles my mind as to why there's this very common noise issue in the first place and why Samsung hasn't done a thing about it.

I guess they figure that 90%+ of buyers aren't going to notice it, or even if they do won't want to bother with repacking and returning the set. It's honestly sickening what these companies are getting away with now and how some of us are ending up with great panels/sets while others are getting the lemons. Just take a look at the OLED or top of the line QLED forums and you'll see many issues with them as well. It's almost like any set you buy these days, no matter the price, you're basically ending up flipping a coin and hoping that you get a good one.

I've seen some people post (on the Samsung community forums) that Samsung changed their panel and/or power supply under warranty and the problem still remained. It seems to be quite the mystery.

I disabled the Anynet+ in the General Device Manager and haven't had the TV shut off since then. That's the only solution I personally have but doesn't mean it will work for everyone.

Question

It's been 6 months i have this TV but it's been 2 months now that whatever that's being displayed on my HDMI 1 is very pale , i don't know what do to or what can be the cause of this. I have the 49" model.

Here's some pictures so perhaps someone have an idea on what it could be ?

Thank you

I have the NU8000 55". Actually your pictures that you posted the NU8000 looks CARTOONISH with those settings whatever the setting are set to. I am guessing Vivid for high peak brightness. Everyone creams in there pants on peak brightness. It's about contrast, black levels and peak brightness. It's not all about peak brightness. I hate when people comment oh oh peak brightness is 1500 who cares. If the black level, contrast sucks then peak brightness means nothing. Oh the color gamut to needs to be high as well.

Its your settings. It has nothing to do with the HDMI 1. Here are my settings

SDR: Day and Night Settings

Movie Mode. If you dont like Movie mode try Standard mode. However Movie mode is the best to reflect the movies intended content.

Backlight: 35 Day/20 Night

Brightness: -1 both day and night

Sharpness: 5 both day and night

Color: 40 day and night( you can up the color from 25 to give the colors some punch)

Tint- default

Digital Clean View-Auto

Auto Motion- Off (always off)

Local Dimming: Low (for HDR HIGH)

Contrast Enhancer: Off ( I never use this feature, maybe for gaming sometimes)

HDR Plus- Off (Never use this. It's fake HDR for SDR content)

Film Mode: 1 (use when hooked up to cable)

Color Tone: Warm 1

White Balance: (No need to touch unless professionally calibrated)

Gamma: BT.1886- 0 or 1 whatever your preference

RGB: Off

Color Space: Auto ( Always use Auto)

Notes: Try and boost your colors and see how you like it.

I used the movie setting. Back light at 45 color at 35 gamma +1. It may look "cartoonish" because Avatar is mostly CGI. All I wanted to point out is that the 3k nits Vizio QX slide looked washed out and I agree with you. Many prefer the most brightness that they can get out of their tvs neglecting what the film director had in mind when he/she created that film. This is why I mentioned that in the movie theater you never see such brightness. The DCI specs for screen brightness in movie theater is 14 foot Lambert and most cannot even reach it due to poor projector/screen maintenance.

Thanks, i went through those settings and found color space to be native instead of auto and checked other settings who changed for no reasons now everything is back like it was before and similar to my other inputs.

I have my settings to be different for each input so that's why i was saying my HDMI one was different with the other inputs.

Thank you very much again.

Better black are you kidding me? This TV even being edge lit has great black level. To get the blacks even better just use bias lighting. I think this tv is great for being edge lit. It was reviewed as being one of the best tvs of 2018. Dont let people on YouTube like Qunatum Apeothisis. Whatever his name is who review and calibrate tvs for a living he said this tv is garbage. That guy is a complete idiot. But the black levels are actually very very good. Is it inky black NO but it's also no grey either not by a long shot. Its shame you sent it back. I would just get it replaced.

Glad you got it fixed. The NU8000 is a great tv, but with me I am never happy so I might get something better. Dont get me wrong it's a great tv. Good luck with it and enjoy it.

Mine stops after about 3 minutes then nothing. It does a few clicks/snaps when its turned off(same as PS4Pro). To me its like a warm up contracting metal/plastic issue. I have the 65 inch 8500 curved though.

Ya well for the price i paid and got a 5 years warranty for basically nothing, i can't complain but i was getting nervous with this issue. Glad i can enjoy this TV again.

I just would have wished that the panel would have been a 120hz instead of 60hz since this is what i had on my LN46C610N1FX.

No I'm not kidding you.

For an edge lit tv I think the blacks are great. The problem is an edge lit tv is not good enough for me.

I'm coming from plasma and the difference is obvious.

So spending $400 more for a Q9 75 inch is a no brainer for me

Having said that the nu8000 is probably more than good enough for most folks

I installed it yesterday on my NU8000 up here in Canada and it worked fine. Still not sure what the update did exactly as I only tested it for an hour or so while gaming but video/audio wise it appears to be the same as 1251.

Okay, so I'm having a helluva time with the UN75NU8000... I am running all components (DirecTV, PS4Pro, Oppo, AppleTV) to my Pioneer SC-97 and from there to the Samsung and a projector. The projector has no issue when I power on or switch sources. But the Samsung take forever to get a signal. I have to bounce between the Oppo, DirecTV or AppleTV, over and over, and eventually I can get past the "no signal" prompts. It's maddening... I've tried ARC on, ARC off, replaced my HDMI cables with hi-speed fiber, reset the TV, unplugged and plugged in. I just don't know what to do to get a handshake and I have been combing through this forum to no avail.

Anybody else with these pieces in their system have similar issues?

I just don't know what to do to get a handshake and I have been combing through this forum to no avail.

Anybody else with these pieces in their system have similar issues?
Instead of using the Samsung's ARC HDMI input have your tried using a different HDMI input to see if you still have the handshake issue. Maybe even try switching the output jack on the receiver?

That doesn't seem to be working... the only thing that delivered a signal was unplugging the HDMI (from Input 1), plugging it back in, resetting the TV, restarting the AVR, turning the DirecTV box off and back on.

Seriously, I am at a loss as to why this TV is struggling so much to receive a signal when the projector (from HDMI out 2 on the AVR) has no problem. And yes, I have swapped outputs from the AVR, as well, just to test. Same handshake issue with the Samsung.
