Actually in fairness, the Vizio R (Reference) was by far their most anticipated TV ever. It was being speculated about for more than a year before it was finally released and then totally flopped. IIRC, it had 300+ zones, QD, 1000+ nits, etc. but it just didn't sell. I suppose, in theory, this PQ model somewhat replaces that one but it's not being marketed as a Reference set (and wisely so).

Outside of these forums, I really don't think this PQ model is that "anticipated", as the average consumer doesn't look to spend more than $1,000 or so on a 65" LCD unless it's from a "top" brand. So this price leap for the PQ model will likely surprise a lot of people who don't follow the TV sector.

Here's a pic of Ragnarok on the PQ65, Calibrated mode. So far it's great. Really bright and crisp.

That’s it?!? You don’t sound too enthused about it lol. So far do you think it’s worth the 900 dollar premium over the P series? Any issues with FALD zones being visible or any of the issues some of the P series have right now?

I still have a couple of weeks to wait on my PQ delivery, but if those Specs put out by Vizio pan out, not only would the PQ be far and away better than the current P series, but it would be potentially comparable to some of the Samsung Q dots...we’ll see...I have high hopes for this set.

That is doubtful
What is more realistic is that Vizio is negotiating with Best Buy to see if their new PQ series will get some "premium" display position in the store.
This would be something that Vizio would pay for...such as Sony and Samsung do now

A dedicated display would require Vizio to pay Best Buy for it

Make no mistake....Vizio needs Best Buy more than vice versa to sell this TV

I think the problem was by time it came to fruition the P-series launched beside it.

Well, no. Vizio has many other retailers who sell this TV, they don't need Best Buy at all. Best Buy can only get this TV from Vizio, they do need Vizio.

65" is the biggest size? That's disappointing. Too small for me. 85" wanted.

65 “ is the only size, to keep the price competitive given the specs per Vizio...an 85” would be what? 4000$? 4500$?

2018 Vizio P-Quantum 65" PQ65 owners thread ** No Price Talk

Delivered and on the wall. It’s gorgeous and it’s bright. Was able to run through a few blips and on it looks great.

*the box is empty and styrofoam stuffed back in. Showed up in a perfect and unblemished box.

I threw on the opening of the matrix which usually creates all kinds of issues for fald and it looks great.

Screen uniformity is perfect no visible fald grid.

Will post a more detailed review as I get time.

It may be the camera, but there looks to be a difference in the black level and color saturation at the sides compared to the middle on the Matrix shot. This is especially true looking at the right side. Can you comment on this? Is it just the camera exposure? The center of the image looks like blooming is very well controlled on this set.

The picture is very uniform I was hastily taking the picture before heading to work. I was more looking for fald pumping on that scene. So far ecstatic with the pq on the unit.

Using calibrated out of the box with sharpness cut to 0. Have not fine tuned anything yet.

I was more so hoping for this year, but thanks

I am on a Sony 75X940C at the moment and am itching for something with Dolby Vision and more brightness. I don't want to spend $8K like I did last time so I am being more open minded this time. I refuse to compromise on size though. After owning a 75" for three years I can't go back.

Do you still have the box on hand? Would you happen to know the box dimensions just in case I get mine from Costco vs getting it shipped to my home?

Please check for grey uniformity/jailbars/dirty screen - this is my number one issue with panels now-a-days <cough> oled <cough> (relax, it’s not bait - I’ve had three of them.)

Learn all about me in my profile and take it all very seriously.

I do, threw it up in the rafters in the garage. I'm not home right now but the specs for the box on vizios site lists it as: Packaging Dimensions:64.76" x 38.54" x 8.11" But it came in a huge overbox the drivers took off before bringing the unit into the house.

This is my biggest concern as well. Currently own a B7 (went through two of these damn things already). The gray uniformity on the first B7 I had was the worst I've ever seen on a TV. Here is hoping I get a good panel when I receive my new PQ this Friday.

Thank you in advance.
VIZIO TVs don't have VRR. For low latency use the VIZIO's Game Mode.

2 people showed up in a truck with the unit, they asked if we can take the overbox off, I said yes, inspected the box for any visible damage, took the unit in, opened it up and plugged it in and checked it over for any damage or glaring issues. I signed they left. As long as it wasn't damaged I was ok because I've had good luck with vizio support in the past replacing units.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree here
Vizio indeed needs to play ball with the nations largest retailer of electronics..IMO...for a large share of volume that they sell

I don't really think people are going to be knocking the door down at Best Buy asking for Vizio Tv's

really....I bet Walmart/Sams carries( and sells) more Vizio product than Best Buy does

Vizio has never quite seemed to be the "best fit" for Best Buy and they have never really shown many of their products as compared to Walmart etc
Best Buy has definitely never showcased any products like they do for Sony and Samsung....and I stated before ,that both companies pay Best Buy to do

Have you seen anywhere near the depth of product( from to bottom of the product line) of Vizio at Best Buy like you have Sony and Samsung?

Enjoy everyone!! I'm not in the arena but love reading everyone's thoughts and comments on their sets the Vizio "PQ" (that's what i call it, lol) may end up being the LCD Set of the YEAR!

hmm, i may have to take a trip down to my local store to see these sets in action

-+ I heard mono with my ears, stereo with my heart, but I heard surround with my soul - Unnamed
-+ My tastes are simple -- I am always satisfied with the best
-+ You ainÂt gotta like me, you just mad 'cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be!
