Adding to my post above, I would say Im generally pleased with the set overall especially for a "budget" price. My previous TV is a Samsung F8500 Plasma which I still have in another room. Great TV and still enjoy it. Previous to that was a Pioneer Plasma. I thought about an OLED but this time around decided to get the best bang for the buck vs the high end emissive display. All the troubles with the TCL 6 series scared me off from that one. Who knows if it would have been better for me. Here are some random thoughts on it: This is not from a "pixel peeper" perspective
The picture overall is fine. I dont have the banding, DSE stuff people complain about but I dont spend all my time looking for it. Watching movies in a dark room is very good. I do notice on a white screen the very corners are a bit darker. I didnt have expectations of perfection with an LCD TV
I do use an OTA. This TV has no EPG which is a bit of a disappointment but not a show stopper. The TCL Roku would have been better in this respect. The upscaling of 720P, 1080i OTA is "ok"
The built in apps are "enough" for my use and contain the core apps that I use most often. Anything else I can cast to it
The biggest negative for me is the Viziocast OS overall. Its just not that great. Slow, buggy. The input switcher is especially poorly done. I want audio set to bitstream (which Im glad it has) and it randomly sets itself back to auto. For me, turning on quick start makes the TV completely unusable. Agan, the TCL Roku TV from an OS perspective would have been better than the Vizio OS.
This is my first exp with Vizio. Im hoping as firmware updates roll out that things will improve, but again, overall a decent TV for the $$
