On a tight budget and undecided!

I'm having a tough time deciding what TV to go with. I can't afford to be videophile but I still appreciate a good picture. I have access to good prices on Sony TV's thru my work that is rather enticing. My current TV (don't laugh) is a Vizio E601i-A3. Its obviously very basic and the picture is nothing to brag about. I sit at just around 9.5' away from it. So now for my dilemma. With a budget under $1800 do I go for size or quality? Here are some options:

Vizio E70-F3 for $900
Sony KD70X690E for $1000
Sony XBR65X850F for $1050
Sony XBR65X900F for $1440
Sony XBR70X830F for $1490
Sony XBR75X850F for $1728

As you can see, a wide range of cost vs size vs quality. I want to know/see that my next TV is a big upgrade in both in terms of size and quality. I want mainly TV shows and a ton of sports (NFL/CFB/NASCAR/NHRA/Hockey). For movies, I stream from my Apple TV 4k from Netflix or Plex. I sit pretty much straight on w one chair at a slight angle. Its in a basement so I don't have to worry about a bunch of natural light or windows. Help/suggestions? Thanks!

I would go with the 900F if I were you.

My humble main system:
Vizio M75-E1; Oppo 203 universal UHD player; Denon 4300H AVR, Dual PSA S1801's; Monitor Audio Silver RX-6 mains, RX center, and RX surrounds; one pair NHT mini Atmos speakers; Home-built HTPC (Xeon E1230, 16gb RAM, Crucial M500 480gb SSD, GeForce 980Ti, Corsair CX600, CoolerMaster mini-ITX case); Roku Premiere+; Amazon 4K Fire TV

At 9.5' you can get away with 65". I would do the 900F as @sk373 said.

Sony 77A9G / Marantz SR-7012 / Martin Logan Motion 60XT, 50XT, Motion 4, Motion FX / 2 x Rythmik FV15HP / AppleTV 4K / ShieldTV

Get the biggest display you can afford, given equal quality, imo. At 9.5', nothing under 100" is too much, imo. We ran 84" at 10', for years...fantastic.
