Can you share your settings tweaks? Have had my 85” for about a week and would like to try them. Afraid I am going to have to have mine swapped out as there is some issues on the left side of the panel.

How to best minimize bloom with hdr material? I’m watching the bumblebee dv uhd. Scene 6 in the garage does not look good at all. Yes it’s mostly dark with bright overhead lights. Any suggestions?

I would make sure XDR is OFF as its set to medium by default for HDR content, with it off it does lower the blooming some.

you can also add some bias lighting from behind the TV, it really helps

Great! It worked! I also learned today after messing around with settings and my Sony ux700...turn off dv on non dv uhd material! This tv is amazing!!

But in doing this you are essentially turning off HDR

Is there something special I need to do to get ARC working with an AVR on the 900F? I’ve got HDMI running from HDMI 3 ARC on my Sony 85X900F to Monitor 1 ARC on my Denon X3500H, but I don’t get any audio when watching Netflix via app on the 900F. Why? Is there a specific input the Denon should be switched to?

So I see different setting for HDR vs non-HDR on the same setting choice (i.e., Cinema Pro). If I have everything running through my AVR and therefore only one HDMI port being used wont it be the same settings for all my devices?

Do you have the Oreo update installed to the 900F? If so, the update caused ARC issues for some owners.

I believe so as I just unboxed it and immediately updated.

The input on your Denon should be set to TV Audio. If it still doesn't work try the workarounds at the below link. If it still doesn't work, try a factory reset.

I believe I had to turn CEC on for both the TV and my Denon receiver, despite the fact I use a Harmony hub setup. And this was before the Oreo update. Worth a try.

Do you keep the color space set to auto for this?

What is the best way to clean up the artifacts over streaming cable channels? Specifically for sports. I have Sharpness at 50 with Reality Creation at Manual/20. I have my motion settings set as Custom 3/1 with Cinemotion on High. I use an Apple TV 4K with match content and frame rate on. Directv NOW is my streming service. I am not sure how compressed the streams are for specific channels but I notice it most with sports. The only channel that does not give me trouble is NBCSN. Sports looks amazing on that channel. As a sad Sabres fan I sill love watching playoff hockey!!

Make sure you have a friend to help you! Don't pinch the screen when you lift it either!

Also, find a spare room to store the box.....

So did the TV arrive in one pice...did you get your settings input yet? :-D

I will be updating my settings once Calman Home 2019 comes out with the Autocal feature. I think it's just for 2.2 gamma SDR, but will post those whenever they are available.

It has arrived. On the wall and now.to dive into all these settings. So far pretty impressed..
I have a LeEco Umax 85 and while the pq isn't on par the 400 zones on the Umax has a slight edge. Will continue to play

You will still have different setting for HDR vs SDR. Yes it will be the same for all devices.

So I am about 48 hours in of ownership. I am using the Rtings settings to start with. Very happy thus far but expect with more tweaks it will get even better. Build quality seems great and happy to have a 99 pound vs the 175 pounds beast that my LeEco 85 inch is. Taking that off and on the wall was heart stopping to say the least.

I don’t know how many of you frequent both this thread and the 900F owners thread, but I’m a new owner and I’ve been posting some questions about my tv on that forum in regards to picture settings and how various supposed calibrated settings make the picture look. I don’t want to post the same stuff to both forums so if any of you could take a look at my questions/concerns i appreciate all input.

Yes I noticed that as well, my new i1Display Pro meter should be here later today, but even if I order the Calman Home I still need a pattern generator. It is too bad Sony doesn't include an integrated pattern generator with the TV the way LG and Panasonic are doing.

Thanks for the heads up, just ordered it.

For those interested in the Calman Home 2019 with Auto Cal, if you would like to wait to hear how well it works with the X900F vs HCFR, give me a day or so to install and run it through it's paces...I am curious what limitations it may have.

Do you guys use any separate settings if you are watching a lower resolution movie say on Netflix? I was just experimenting this morning with my new 75” 900F, and was watching various things on the built in Netflix app. Infinity War looked great, which I expected being a newer movie. But then I started Raiders of the Lost Ark, and it was almost unwatchable. I realize it’s a much older movie, but I can’t imagine it even looked that bad when it was originally in the theaters. Is there anything I can do to make these lower resolution movies more watchable? Thanks.

Also, are these settings questions generally more appropriate for this forum, or the Owners Forum?

Either forum is fine, but this is probably the best for settings. Please review the first post on this thread for basic info.

Watching a low resolution program on a larger screen is challenging. My mother-in-law swore the best picture she ever saw was on the 15" portable in the old RV. Sony has one of the best upscalers in the business. Good luck.

Well I can confirm that the Crusades of the lost ark from Netflix looks beautiful. Of course not as perfect as Infinity war but that’s a matter of Technology in the making of.
