Of course overall picture quality is what really matters. Rtngs PQ ratings are just a composite score of all the criteria that goes into what makes a TV good. Did you notice what criteria had the single biggest weight in the Rtngs PQ composite score?

This is a good question that I complement saying

in which points can the X95G win and lose?
(in my view so far will lose in contrast)

Even so, the (expensive) CR leaders' free-falls can't be denied. One trick ponies?

Image Burning

Quick question:
On my 55" 950G, for the fear of the image burn-in, I keep turning this TV, off frequently when I get interrupted. Does this hurt the system more, if I leave it on?

Thanks!

Contrast is tied with 1080P input 🙂

I'm 99.99% sure this TV can be left on for eternity and it will never develop burn in.

Thanks!
Burn-in/image retention is really only an issue with OLEDs and plasma displays. Not really a concern with LCDs like the 950G.

I'm curious as to why the X930E isn't on that list. Too old for the list perhaps?

Looks like that list only contains TVs that they retested using their current Test Bench 1.3
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/chan...bCXQEM_BqV35R4

In any case, the 930E came up with an 8.2 PQ score which you can lookup in the actual review. Which places it equivalent to the 900F, which is right where I would expect it.

The legs can't be reversed on this model. That is a deal breaker to me due to stand size. My x900f fit perfectly with reversed legs.

This tv is why i probably won't buy another Sony. The 940d and z9d were the last true no compromise flagships...They've let 1 or more giant compromises come in ever since. They keep making the 900e over and over. Super lame...

Peak brightness is better across the board and input lag is slightly better (though [email protected] is halved). They also confirmed all four ports are full 2.0 this time around. Sound quality actually went down for them as did contrast. Remote is better.

Still want to see the 75" numbers, but the price differential to the 900F may not be worth it me.

All higher peak brightness means for a set like this is that the blooming will be worse. Nothing more...That's what happened with the 900f. Higher peak brightness lead to brighter blooming over the 900e. They increased zone count on the 900f so the blooming didn't cover an area as large, but it was more noticeable because it was brighter. Full 2.0 really only matters if you have 4 devices that require 4k 60fps. So if you have an Xbox One X, a PS4 Pro, and a gaming PC that need to be plugged directly into the tv then that may be helpful, but if not, who cares...

Honestly I think a person would be nuts to buy this over the 900f. It's cheaper, has better contrast, and unless you need to have an extra person on either end of the couch, i don't see any "upgrade" warranting factor here at all.

I'm the same boat. I really tried to grab one of the last 940E's from BBuy (0% owns me) a month ago and no joy. I was very hopeful that the 950G in 75" would be a 940E replacement with better processor. I want the deep blacks as my room is 100% dark. No light in there. I can make a good case for the X wide as I'll have 4 seats side by side, just one row so the outer two seats will benefit from the wider viewing angle. But I'm not happy with this at the expense of blacks as all I watch in the theater are films on 1080p Blu-Rays or 4k Discs.

What would y'all do? I can still order a 940E online but have to take the risk of delivery to my home. I have never done this before, always electing to buy local in case of issues.

I wouldn't be concerned about online at all. I ordered a 940e through Amazon, Audio & Video Center was the company. I had an issue with the set and Audio & Video replaced it without question. The guy delivering the unit dropped his end of the pallet when taking it out of the truck so I believe they filed the claim with the freight company. They sent a new tv and never scheduled a pickup for the old one. Sat in my garage for over a year waiting for the call. Had some uniformity issues and I coulnd't be sure if it was because of the drop or not, but the delivery guy dropped his end so i wasn't taking any chances..

If there are any questions about the delivery, just write, "Subject to damage" on the form you sign when they deliver. That way you are covered...Good luck.

You have to remember, Best Buy gets them all shipped in the back of a semi just like you would if it came direct to your house. No difference.
