I'm considering the 85" X950G to replace my recently deceased X940E. My big concern is the black levels on the larger sets due to the X- wide angle tech. I've also got an A9F in my movie room, and my 940E always impressed me with it's black levels even when compared with the OLED. How are the black levels on the 75" and 85" X950G compared to the X940E, and as someone coming from an X940E, do you think I would be disappointed with it's performance overall?

My room is equally as bright with big windows. Between the screen design and brightness of the tv, this isn’t an issue in my room.

I'll agree. Reflection is only a minor teeny tiny gripe, but the color and motion are superb with this television.

I purchased the 55" 950G back in July. The other day I decided to try some HDR media on my X-Box One S. Searching online I found that I had to change the HDMI ports to Enhanced to get them to accept HDR. I updated the software to PKG6.2510.0325NAA. The thing is once I did this and changed the settings on the X-Box it still won't auto detect HDR. I can change it to HDR10 or HLG manually and the input will show it as HDR but I can do that on non-HDR devices so I'm not convinced it is accepting an HDR signal from the devise. I've been trying to find out what I may be missing that could be causing the TV to not auto detect HDR from my X-Box. I'm planning at some point to purchase a UBP-X700 Blu-ray player but right now I would have to borrow another HDR devise to test. Any help would be appreciated.

I see other member had some good answers, just remember even the Samsung unit will not get rid of all the glare, they will be a tad better but not night and day better....... Q80 is equal to the 950G. Q90 is more in line with the Z9G without the 8K.

Definitely not. I would wait for the H series if I were you. The 900E has a better picture due to the better contrast ratio and a lot less blooming. To me, the motion is better on the 900E as well. However, the 950G has a better remote and better processor, so it is a lot faster. Also, 950G has DolbyVision. If you value picture quality over everything, you will actually be downgrading to a 950G.

I turned it on one day and there was a multi colored vertical line that ran down the entire screen. Luckily, I had the Geek squad warranty for it, so they gave me a store credit for what I paid for the TV. They didn't seem interested in finding the cause, just took pictures to verify the issue, then gave me instructions on how to get my store credit.

At rtings, Motion and PQ are about the same, X950G bettering X900E by .1 in both categories. X900E betters X950G in Contrast by .4. X950G betters X900E in Black Uniformity by .8.

Currently, one's probably better off with the X950G due to Ultimate Processor and eARC.

Waiting can be a very good option, if one doesn't need anything now. The X950G will be available later, if "H" doesn't pan out. Who knows at this stage? Surprisingly, Samsung, Sony, and Panasonic (N/A in US) are all betting on OLED, IOW seemingly putting most of their R&D energy toward.

Cheers!

I love the OLED picture but after seeing the burn in on my Panasonic VT50 I am hesitant. Keeping my eye on the LCD market at this point. Hoping for some positive changes from Sony next year. Waiting on CES at this point.

In my opinion, no. They're close enough, and the X900E recent enough, that it's better to wait ~5 months and see what's announced at CES 2020. The H series should offer a greater all around upgrade.

Of course, there are no guarantees of anything, but in the worst case scenario (Sony go all in on OLED and leave LCD behind), the X950G will still be around, and at a greater discount. Point is, you have nothing to lose by keeping your 900E until then and seeing what Sony's lineup for next year looks like.

Is there any good picture settings for Game mode listed anywhere? I just bought the 55" 950g today and have a PS4 pro.

Also is there a reason the HDR option is not available under the Netflix App in Custom Settings? How would you enable Dolby Vision for content, as I don't see that option anywhere?

Planning to get two 55" x950g's to flank my LG 77" OLED in my basement (for watching multiple sports games, for example).

Bad idea?

How is Android on these TVs? Won't hook this up to cable, so will be reliant a lot on Kodi/Plex. Those run ok?

So I've seen some references to "950H" but when I google it I don't see much. Are there any hard facts, dates, etc? With the price drop on the 950G I'm itching to pull the trigger on a 75" but don't want buyers remorse "ya should have waited 1 more year". LOL

I don't replace TV's often, still have a 32" Sony XBR in my bedroom that is almost 25 years old. It's so heavy I'm going to have to hire someone to haul it away. I've got a 70" LCD in the rec room that the 950 would replace. When I bought it I thought I was safe from screen size envy as it was absolutely the biggest that would fit in that space but now the bezels are so much thinner I can get a 75". Mainly wanting 4K & HDR in the upgrade. Mostly watch sports (football & racing) & streaming TV, only the occasional movie & never in a completely dark room.

Here are my best PS4 Pro settings so far. Hope you like. Using Reality Creation really improves the graphics. This png includes settings for Game and Standard modes. Be sure to turn off A/V sync in the sound options for better controller latency. I use standard preset with smoothness set to 1 for all non FPS games. It makes the motion better for RPGs, etc. Hit me up if you have any questions. Also use the white balance and per color adjustments. All settings combined look awesome. No disappointment. I guarantee.

The TV will be connected to a surround sound system however for general day to day viewing my wife would prefer not to have the "hassle" of using it.

Thanks for your opinions in advance.
The TV speakers are so-so. I have my 950G connected to my inexpensive Vizio S3821 soundbar. It works perfect. I can control it from my Directv or Sony remote.

Hi has anyone bought the XBR-55x850g? I bought one from Best Buy and I feel like the TV is slightly tilting backwards while on the stands.

Maybe I am crazy but wanted to see if anyone else had this issue.

Getting ready to purchase a 65"
I play various games including Fallout and Skyrim and am a bit concerned about blooming on the subtitles and dialog options in game.
Have you had any issues with blooming?
Thanks for the help

Dude, I am glad to see another gamer here. To answer your question, I sit directly in front of my TV so I never notice any unusual blooming. However, you will see more of the blooming if you are viewing from a side angle. Hopefully you will enjoy the settings once you get your set and I will post any updates/improvements of my favorite settings regularly. I have been mostly playing Monster Hunter World on PS4 Pro. Reality Creation is an amazing feature that can behave like a graphic filter for all games. Now my Monster Hunter looks even more 4Kish as if I were playing it on PC.

however does does reality creation hurt input lag? I play MLB the Show and rather not have delay on my swing timing.

Does Sonos Playbar fit between legs for 2019 X950G 65"?

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted.

I searched through the thread and looked elsewhere but couldn't find info. I have a Sonos Playbar already and want to find out if the 65" X950G will fit in between the legs. The specs sound like it would, but since the legs on the TV taper, I wanted to get a first hand experience, as my entertainment center has limited depth (18").

Also, does anyone know if putting the Playbar will block the IR/remote on the TV?

I really don't want to mount the Playbar above the TV on the wall.

Thank you very much in advance!

Does not hurt it at all. Reality Creation is Sharpness and Resolution settings. Nothing like motion settings; Motionflow, Smoothness and Cinemotion. The latnecy is so good on this set that you can also use Smoothness 1 Motionflow but keep Cinemotion OFF.
