It basically made me take 2 sets of 6 pics to gauge the white balance on my Pixel 2 XL. Extremely simple and accurate. I take my hat off to TCL for providing this tool. My guess is that they partnered with Google initially because they cameras and AI is so accurate

I tried looking for this app on iOS but couldn't find it. Is this a non iOS app?

Thanks for the fast reply! As far as real world results. How are you liking your new settings?

An iOS version is on the way but I haven't seen an ETA yet. Trying to find out what version of iPhone will be required since I don't have a Google Pixel phone.

Thanks @Saunupe19111 , I just got done, and now need to test out. Getting 2 set of 6 pictures for this AARP member was challenging enough.

If they would get the flipp'n IOS app out I would consider getting this or the 8 series TV.. We just bought my son/wife and kids this TV but they have iPhones. Please give us a good review of the app and how it improved the PQ.
Thanks, Gerry

I've already given a light review. This app shouldn't determine whether you should by the TV. There's enough feedback throughout this thread that's says it's a pretty good TV.

Funny you ask. I just got done reading an article on ars, in which testing of several movies, games and streaming content - including the Mandalorian on Disney+ is revealing that content being 'sold' as HDR is in fact SDR. One game they mentioned in the article is RDR2. They said when it first came out it was faux HDR, but after being discovered it has been patched.

Anyways, the 'experts' went as far as suggesting the faux HDR content looks better in SDR since it is actually SDR -- This led me here to ask: If my 75R615 is detecting HDR content and switches automatically to HDR mode - is there a way for me to switch it back to SDR?

In messing with the picture settings, it seems to me that once HDR has been detected there is no way to choose SDR. Below is the link to the article.

There are secret menus you can access on the Roku TV's, and one of them has to do with HDR and bitrate. I'm not sure if you can switch from HDR to SDR that easily, but you might be able to force SDR at the beginning.

How do I access these secret menus you speak of?

Any thoughts of an upgrade from the 75? Im looking at a 65" new 6th series ive read the judder is better with the natural cinema option. The judder is bad on my 75 really noticeable when watching movies and any scene that pans left or right makes me nauseous. OLED im afraid of burn in because i play like the same 2 games on the 1x and both have huds on the screen. Unless the C9 comes down under 1500 which i doubt it will. Im leaning towards the H9F at the moment .

Well hey!
I just ordered the 75R617 for a great deal on Cyber Monday!

My nice tv stand is only 58" wide.

I read that the normal legs are 63" apart, but they can be inverted.

On the BB site, someone added "44" without a comment, but I need to confirm the inverted feet distance and depth to make sure it will fit before I go out and get a big piece of plywood to paint.

Thx!

(Also why is it taboo to share a good deal/price?? Is there another forum for that?

Cheers, DSA

The owner of the AVS Forum website believes it makes sense to separate pricing discussion from performance discussion. It makes it easier for forum members to go directly to the discussion that has the information they're looking for without having to dig through a bunch of posts that are irrelevant to what they're specifically looking for. The LCD Flat Panel Great Found Deals! forum link is directly below the link to this forum:

I don't have the TV yet, but when I was researching this, the info I found was with the legs inverted, the footprint was about 46" x 16". That would have been just to the edges of my stand, so I am going to mount it to a tabletop tv stand

Depending on the exact architecture of your stand, an alternative would be to attach edge guards to the sides of your stand that would extend slightly above the top of the stand and prevent the legs from slipping off the sides.

I tried out your #'s on my 65 and actually like the look. I also tried out rtings ones and they looked washed out on my tv (i also did the color settings not just the greyscale though) so swtiched back to yours. I happened to notice however when i was keying in the rtings ones that your sub 50% #'s are identical to theirs. Were you using theirs before perhaps and it didn't update them based on that some phones can't accurately calibrate for them? Seemed like way to much a coincidence they were exactly the same.

I actually ran it again and got even more accurate results because they app takes in the previous adjustments each time. So basically it gets better and better. I will try to post my current settings when I get home. These are Warm settings by the way

I always use Warm so that's why I tried yours. First time actually trying someone else's #'s as they always say each TV is different so they may not work but so far i liked it, though maybe i should retest without again on the video's i was using to judge between your #'s and rtings numbers.

New 75R615 being delivered this afternoon. Beer is already on ice for the couple buddies coming over to help. Moved the old Sammy KS8000 65inch into the home office. Wish me luck
