What is CEC? Should this be enabled in the tv? I disabled it and turned tv off and on and I don’t think my ps4 did anything. I did not change anything on the ps4 Pro. I just disabled the hdmi cec on the tv.

How can I lower brightness without affecting anything else like colors etc? It seems to hurt the picture or is that just cus it’s not as bright? I’m used to my E6 OLED using default movie/cinema whatever. The Sammy is too bright. But I try default movie mode on the Sammy and it seems to lessen the colors and other stuff. It is darker but I’m lost on why darker seems to hurt other parts of the picture then just the brightness. I don’t understand what is at work here. When lowering brightness it don’t do anything. I’m in standard mode here. So backlight darkens the tv but seems to hurt other parts. Yes it’s darker but I’m just confused what’s happening here.

Thank u all.
Though I'm no expert, in my two years in these forums, most, not all, people who are more knowledgeable than me have stated that backlight is a preference and doesn't impact the picture quality, unlike brightness. Before anyone jumps on me I'm just the messenger lol.

Brightness for me does nothing at all. Backlight does, but well I guess it’s just not as saturated as brighter. Maybe lowering brightness does something. Hmm. I don’t notice on my E6 but I never lowered brightness. Just the Sammy is too bright for me. But lower brightness makes the image less good. Maybe that’s just what darker does. I dunno.

How do I set up ARC?
I want to connect my Xfinity 4K box and ps4 Pro and Xbox one x to the OCB so how do I get their 5.1 sound back to my Anthem? I don’t have optical cables.

Leave Brightness at 0 since that affects picture quality.

Adjust Backlight to your preference. At night or in a dark room you are likely wanting to be below 20. In a room with lots of light, you likely will prefer 20 or above.

When viewing HDR, the Backlight setting automatically goes to maximum 50 unless you change it. If you change it, it will remember your setting.

As suggested, set your Color Space to Native to see if you like it better than Auto.

Brightness is the near-black gamma setting of the TV. In bright scenes, raising it will have little impact but will wash out the colors a little depending on the content. Almost like a thin fog. It does increase shadow detail so if you think you are loosing some, increasing brightness can help. This is how Samsung has handled brightness over the past couple years.

I don't know about LG specifically, but I believe most manufacturers use brightness to increase the overall white level of the image thus granting a much bigger impact when changed.

This same thing baffled me when I first set my TV up. I thought the brightness slider was useless. But when you understand how it works, you'll be able to pick out the changes it's making easier. Hope this helps!

Anybody that have noticed that setting the contrast enhancer e.g. from low to high dosn´t change anything in Movie Mode? The same goes for local dimming in standard mode? All for SDR content. I have software version 1066, released 26 April.

Actually, the different settings behave somewhat very differently depending on the picture mode.

I switch around my settings all the time but for this one I used Hdr movie mode with color space switched to native, and digital clean view off.

The native color space mode tend to wash out colors compared to auto in HDR. The opposite is true when watching SDR, as you have mentioned previously in the thread.

Native is more saturated on mine in both sdr and Hdr.

I've noticed this as well, especially lowering standard dimming to low results in no change at all in movie mode.

Could someone help please with arc? I don’t know if I should connect everything to ocb or not. I have the Anthem MRX 720. I need to be able to see it’s menu and vol info etc on tv. But tv won’t auto switch to consoles when they’re connected to receiver. So I guess I have to connect them to tv. But then I lose the receiver osd. I don’t know what to do.

And I don’t understand arc. Should I connect my two consoles and cable box to ocb? Then how to do arc? I do t have optical. Or connect two consoles to tv and cable box on receiver? I’m looking for simple but auto switch to game mode and consoles input. This is all confusing.

What about the Sony 8K sets coming in June? Are they going to be better (8K aside)? Even reading reviews it's hard to make sense out this.

Long time reader, but first time poster. Appreciate everyone's input.

I am a novice, and I have a question about my 75" Q90R. I have noticed some stuttering during NBA basketball games on both ABC HD and TNT HD via DirecTV. It's one of the wireless client DirecTV boxes. Is this typical? Are there any recommended settings adjustments?

I also notice some stuttering / motion blur while watching Game of Thrones. I've been pretty bummed since this was an expensive TV and an upgrade over my Samsung 65 H7150. Basketball games definitely look worse and so does the motion while watching GOT.

Thanks,

My first foray into 4K. I ordered some cables from Amazon, but as long as they support 4K that's all I need correct? I know it states they support the latest HDMI spec.

Thanks,
4k TV's won't handle lower res content as well as old 1080p TV's. Upscaling is fantastic on this TV set, as mentioned by Vincent's review. This has been discussed many times throughout this thread and it's always a case of coming from a 1080p set to a 4k set.

Thanks,
I've dealt with this issue w/ my current TV (Lg UB849800) using DirecTV. The only way that I've been able to correct it is to hit pause & then play... For some reason this fixes the judder during NBA games. This is NOT an issue when I use You Tube TV however.

Looking forward to picking up an Q90r 82" once they become more readily available in my area. I'd like to see it or a 75" version in person before forking over the cash.
Been following this thread since the beginning, looks like it may be a 'winner' for my next purchase!

Try various configurations to see what works best for you. Connect the anthem to the OCB using the ARC ports on each device. Then try various configurations to see what works best. For instance, you might connect one console and the cable box to Anthem while connecting the other console to OCB. I think you are just going to have to play around a bit. Report back with your findings.

I was talking about what is available today. Well have to wait as see, as once you have HD, resolution becomes the least important factor as far as overall picture quality.

Looks like the Q90 has finally gone on 'sale' from Samsung! Time for me to pull the trigger -- only decision now is what size to buy.
