Good God what a difference from the LG 84 9800 that it replaced. Haven't gotten a chance to watch a whole lot of content on it yet, nor do much tweaking with the settings, but it does look amazing! I will probably use Slickmans settings for now from post #2299 ,cause I have NO idea of what else to start with!
Quick question; i've followed this thread from the beginning & believe I saw something @ some point about the One Connect cable extension, but can't remember where...
I'm going to eventually move all the electronics except for the Panny UB 9000 to a custom built cabinet in the garage one day & will need a longer cable. I see the old style 15m cable on Samsungs website for the TV's up to last year, however it looks different than this years cable. Is there word of one available, or becoming available for the Q90?

Thanks for all the help & info on this forum!!
Wow! Nice setup.

So far i checked Q90R in store they have version 01 in the barcode, service menu says letter A. Just like my 65Q9FN.
So its a Samsung.
Can somebody confirm this is true? Also, only 65 inch version.

In Europe when there is letter 02 on back we have AUO panel.
What is the full (OPTION) code? But A should be Samsung yes and 02 does not automatically mean AUO.

Everything starting with F should be a Samsung.

F is Samsung. A is AUO. I would pay no mind to these letters. I had 3 aa01 and 2 fa02 65" q9fn and they all stunk equally. The 75" aa01 q9fn sets were much better quality than all 65" regardless of the letter. I don't think there are any reports of variance between letter codes on the 2019 models.

Sitting in my garage for now until I figure out what to do with it.
It's got a few vertical lines in the screen on the left side which I can only assume is a screen replacement...
I do have an extended warranty on it that I got from Video Only when I bought it, so maybe I can get it fixed, then sell it.

Guys there is a Qled owners group on Facebook that's completely filled with 2019 set hate, it's so pathetic. They create a Qled group but if you own a 2019 set owner you are harassed. SMH.

Holy F***

I was going to post pictures but I can't even capture how ridiculous the PQ is on Interstellar 4K HDR.

It's absolutely gorgeous. The sun reflecting off the ship in space looks like I'm staring out the ships window.

Spee2k, this looks really nice. I'll try to post a pic of my setup soon but it is making me rethink about hanging mine on the wall.

I've got a stand similar to yours which I have no intention of removing since it holds my Xbox One X, Cable Box, Onkyo 830, a huge Infinity Beta center speaker, and a Panamax Surge. For that reason, I'm using the stand and not hanging on the wall. I might consider moving it...the one advantage for me since I am not worried about the side view (with my room layout) and having it 12" forward gives me the impression of having a larger TV.

Thanks buddy. I dont know, there is something about table mounting a 75" TV that scares me, personally..lol. My preference would always be to wall mount , but it appears you have a reason not to

I dont know what panel 75 version uses.
In USA i see better version is FA02.
In Europe when there is letter 02 on back we have AUO panel.
Completely diferent.
Just wanted to know for sure because i dont want to unpack then return TV this big.
That in store is superb yes, but i want new packed TV, and nobody in Croatia will unpack q90R for me just to see what panel type is.
More so, sellers dont know about that and laugh.
We buy new one because brother needs one for his room and no more Q9FN left in stock.

Hello
I'm from France so my panel is QE65Q90RA from Slovakia
No DSE, no Blooming, no dimming problem!

We have a 75” sitting on a TV stand. I bought some 10” wide oak and used it to double the thickness of the top span where the TV sits. Then I cut some vertical pieces to transfer the load to the floor. It’s working so far.

Loving the TV. We upgraded from a 10 year old 52”. UHD and HDR are amazing and we have no issues at all with upscaling our local cable (Frontier FIOS).

Anyone know if there is a way to get a TIVO logo on the home screen? I can’t find it in any of the setup screens. Are we the only ones here who use TIVO?

Just a little info for anyone else with the same question I had earlier about the 15m One Connect cable for the 2019 models.
I got no info here, so decided to start a chat w/ Samsung. Instead of trusting the first support person, I tried 5 different chats @ different times, all actually gave the same answer!
The longer cable is coming soon, no date available however, just soon.
Hope this helps others as well!

With my present TV ( Panasonic TX 902) and sit approximately 10 feet from the 65"screen. On all sources the picture looks fine at this distance.I am looking to purchase a 75"Q90r but am concerned that even with a set as accomplished as this that I would not get the best viewing at this distance.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

Odds are they are not going to fix it, Brand new unit is much cheaper......They will replace it with a like model or give a store credit. Who know they might have gave you your Samsung for free. Let us know what happens.....

You can find various sites with recommended viewing distances; for example, rtings has one.

I'm sitting 7.5' from my 75" Q90R, same distance as from my previous 75" HD set.

I find it more cinematic having the screen a bit higher. I’d like to see you get your eyes high enough to be dead center of a 120” screen. Lol

As your screen gets bigger, it becomes much harder to keep the center of the screen at eye level. To get my eyes at the center of this 82” Q90, the bottom of my screen would be less than 2ft from the floor. That would put my center speaker way down at floor level. No thanks.

Agree with this. I sit 7.5-8 feet from and if I vertically aligned my 65" to be dead center with my eyes it would look ridiculously low. That's another reason why I value good viewing angles on a TV. Gamma shift on TV's with poor verical viewing angle is definitely noticeable from where I sit.

Good point. Sitting ~10 ft back from my former 85” 900F, I was getting picture wash out and increased blooming at the edges of the screen. It was subtle, but still noticeable. This is one reason why I value ultra wide viewing angles so much.

Is it worth having a company come over who calibrate my Q90R 75" at home? (Haven't got it yet though.)
I read something about that they would lower the backlight? I wouldn't want that I think.
And I also read that it should get recalibrated every now and then? That would get expensive over time.
I'm not sure if I care about a "objectively accurate picture". I just want a beautiful picture. I just want to say "wow" when I look at it, rather than playing a smartass and say "This is how the director intended the movie to look like so this must always automatically be best no matter what, no matter what someone thinks subjectively. Look at the accurate RGB numbers!!!11 (or whatever) this must at all times be best no matter what my eyes thinks/emotions feel".

I have some experience of calibrating PC monitors (myself, with my own device). And it basically just made the picture more boring. What's the point with that.

Maybe I answered my own question..

Maybe I answered my own question..
Here is the real issue...you don't want your screen calibrated for purpose of personal viewing enjoyment.

Example: I work with office technology in my day job. Designers who create media need calibrated screens to replicate what an average person would see in sRGB for websites or CMYK for print in a controlled lighting environment. Every calibrated display will look worse to an average user. A calibrated display is essential if you were a costume designer for a movie studio so you could ensure things look as intended to the audience.

I contend that calibrated displays are not necessary for home use. With that being said, default settings from the factory are designed to impress in a Best Buy or your initial impression to create a "wow factor", or to highlight contrast, etc. Once you get things at home, it is often best to dial things down to more accurate and realistic settings. Movie mode, recommended settings by other respected forum members, third party sites are all great. But once it reaches your home, the most important setting is what you prefer. I may change my mind over time, but for now, I prefer to leave most settings alone and reduce the backlight so it doesn't shock my eyes when watching movies in the evening.

IMHO, the contrast capability is amazing (compared to my old TV)....almost too good for normal use. I prefer the backlight dialed down.
