All I know is that today's firmware fixed the main and ONLY complaint I had on my 75". Now I can get 120fps in PC mode with Game Mode on without it saying 120fps but only outputting 60fps, confirmed by the overclocking test on blur buster's website https://www.testufo.com/frameskipping . THANK YOU SAMSUNG FOR FIXING THIS!!!

I know this is “no price talk” but is there a thread where we CAN go and discuss price? I’ve got a question about buying 75 inch and how good the offer green tow just made me is.

Good question. I suspect that maybe it is brighter.

When I moved from the 75” Z9F to the 82” Q90, I was expecting to see a fairly noticeable decrease in brightness, but that was not the case at all. In fact, I now believe the brightest modes on the Q90 are brighter than the brightest modes the Z9F.

Ya know you got OLED kinda guys and then have LED kinda guys. Its kinda like comparing a Diesel to a Gas engine in ways. I know one thing for sure, I do not need the best thing out there, Q90R is no slouch or the other 3 runner ups

Yes, specifically, every letter "s" you type on that stupid phone shows up as "s" on a Windows 10 computer Microsoft Edge browser. Maybe there's a better "app" you can use since you posts look like garbled nonsense to those using a computer.

Also, for anyone using a custom remote am I correct in assuming that there are no known discrete codes for the direct streaming buttons on the remote?

Samsung's lack of specificity is annoying but I'm used to it and usually just wait for observations from other more driven owners. Tonight the plan had been to do my first serious calibration but I unfortunately had to order a new meter and it won't be here until Monday...so I have some time on my hands. I guess I'm gonna roll the dice and see what's what.

Settings for Q90R

Hi guys, I'm getting my 82Q90R on Monday and was wondering if there's a consensus on what the settings should be. I was thinking of going with what rtings suggests, but any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I found the 1303.7 version on Samsung's site. Is the only way to upgrade to this level via USB?

I use discrete codes for Netflix and Amazon.

I'm using a Harmony Elite and I was trying to find Netflix and Amazon discrete codes last night while setting it up. The only remote I got with the TV was the bluetooth remote, and it doesn't output any IR signals that the Harmony can learn when I use the Netflix or Amazon buttons.

What universal remote are you using? Do you know what the codes are? We can get Logitech to add them to the Q90R profile.

I have several URC Remotes. I'm currently using the MX-990. I used my Samsung UN65F8000 candy bar remote to learn the codes to my URC remote.

The Harmony database should already have the Netflix and Amazon codes for previous Samsung TV's that you can pull.

Hey, you're right, the UN65F8000 Harmony device DOES have Netflix and Amazon codes! Thanks! I'll try that when I get home tonight.

It's probably placebo, but the local dimming seems a touch better for me in HDR Game Mode. Aside from that I haven't noticed much yet. Nothing dramatic, but I'll take what i can get.

More importantly I didn't see anything so far that was previously working well that is now borked.

Edit: I also got temporarily excited when I looked at the game update and apps screen on the Xbox. Samsung's for the last several years have excessive splotchiness on certain gray backgrounds with high intensity whites. This is not your typical DSE and while overall it's never been a big deal it has always been a bit annoying. Last night I thought they had figured out how to mitigate this as the effect is greatly reduced. I was wrong though...I didn't realize that there had also been an Xbox update where they have apparently changed the shade of gray used for the background. The effect is still readily visible on other devices with the same type of background and whites.

You sir are awesome! I didn't know that Samsung ever had an IR remote with discrete codes for Netflix/Amazon and those are precisely the ones I was looking for. I have a slightly convoluted way that I can learn these for myself, but I'll contact Logitech and ask them to add them to the Q90 profile for everyone else.

For now. Samsung usually does a staggered rollout for automatic updates, so it might be a few weeks before you see it automatically show up on your TV.

Hey all! I have my TV being delivered Monday (82”) and i was curious if any of the reviews out there have tested vertical viewing angles.

I would prefer to mount the tv flat on the wall but I’m concerned from the seating position that without tilting it’ll wash out. It’s my understanding the new viewing angle improvement only deals with horizontal angles not vertical angles.

I’d be curious if someone has tested the vertical impact.

The tv is going to be used to replace a triple monitor setup for a display to work and I have a desk I use standing and sitting. If the tv is flat mounted i can position it between the two positions so I’m slightly above center when standing and below center when sitting. If the off axis vertical picture quality is crap though maybe I’ll meed a mount that can quickly adjust tilt?

Any advise would be appreciated! Perhaps there’s a mount that makes it easy to adjust the tilt in a few seconds when changing position as well? Other mounts I’ve had in the past adjust swivel easily but the tilt not so much.

Side note, I actually received the tv Wednesday and the display was trashed. The freight co didn’t inform me when he arrived, plopped the tv flat in my loading dock and took off. Talk about a facepalm moment. Literally stuff all over the box about not laying it flat. It won’t even turn on. Anyway the replacement tv is already on the way and Monday the new tv will be sent and my broken one picked up.

Some fun pics of the damage included 🙂

Do you like accuracy or ”pop”? Rtings advice on gamma setting (2.2) makes the picture quite dull and flat so either way I wouldn’t recommend those settings.
