I notice the wider viewing angle, richer blacks and sharper images. The upscaling of Netflix SDR content has improved as well. DSE still exists to a lesser extent and is barely noticeable on regular content. I am not a gamer but I did hook up my Nintendo Switch (Mario Odyssey) and it looks fabulous. I'm not allowed to post pics yet but even if I could, I probably would not just because the camera doesn't do the TV justice.

When watching Star Trek Voyager in Natural mode, I see a little black crush of some of the stars in the opening scene. I don't see this when switching to Standard mode. I no longer see the flashlight effect that was caused by local dimming when subtitles were turned on with the Q9FN.

If you are thinking of buying and have the opportunity to view this TV in person, I think you should take the trip. Most of this is subjective as some are more sensitive than others to blooming, DSE, etc. For me, this TV is a great improvement and I could not be more pleased. I watch in a bright room during the day, pitch black at night and with bias lightstrip on back of TV at night. The TV performs well in all of these situations. Comparing to the Q9FN again, the anti-reflective coating has improved as well.

My one complaint is that the stand makes the TV feel flimsy especially compared to the Q9FN. I noticed this right away when applying the hue light strip to the back of the TV. Because of this, I may mount this TV whereas with the Q9FN, I didn't even think about mounting. Right now, I think the TV is in a safe place where it won't get knocked over but I am shocked that it feels so .. wobbly may not be the best word but its the closest I can think of at the moment. The stand itself is 2 parts and the base feels as if it weights 20 pounds. You may not notice it but I notice because I'm coming from the Q9FN which was very sturdy.
Reading the early impressions/reviews, I remember at least one mentioned Standard mode was the most accurate out of the box for SDR (you might have to turn the motion processing off to avoid SOE), and Movie mode was the most accurate out of the box for HDR. Just mentioning it as it might be helpful for early buyers of this set. I myself I’m looking to upgrade to either the 75” or 82” model sometime in late spring.

Setup:
Spoiler!

Several others have posted with this same issue for the past week. Your post basically just gave the latest update status.

This.

I’m hoping it’s up by tomorrow. The 82 inch is up though...

I was a happy new owner of the Q90R until tonight. It seems a dimming zone/s just completely went out. I've tried to reset the tv in every which way imaginable. I've also tried to change the local dimming settings but that didn't help either. Any suggestions before I lug this thing back to Frys later today?

The general quality of the TV looks premium or not? Because on my 55KS9500, it's really good!
I don't know if I take a 65Q85R or 55Q90R, because it's the same price in Europe
480 zones against 96 zones, it could make a big difference on PQ
The 55" Q90 does not have 480 zones, maybe it even has only 96 zones. The updated specs for the 55" model has a 10x Direct Full Array rating (and since it has HDR2000 instead of HDR1500 on the Q85R that has 8x rating, maybe the only difference is higher brightness. And the 65Q85R is not the same price as 55Q90R everywhere in Europe: here it is €400 more expensive [probably because the 55Q90R is cheaper])

This is why i was worried about ordering so early, early production issues. Like buying a new car, the first model year is always buggy, i fear same for these TVs, first few months are buggy.

But i did in fear of the EPP prices going back up so i pulled the trigger. Fingers crossed when mine delivers this Friday.

Safe to assume, you could return the TV to Samsung if this happens, correct?

Wow. That sucks. Stack that onto all the other early adopter taxes. It seems that that's two failures (another owner had no ARC on his TV and it was due to bad hardware) out of maybe seven people that have confirmed in this thread they've received it.

Not too great.

Looks like this guy works for Best Buy?

Interesting that when he's talking about how good the black levels are he immediately says "not as good as OLED, not anything like that".

I was in BB this past weekend looking for the Q90 and they only had the Q9F. The Magnolia rep who was helping me did say, emphatically, that Samsung is going to be providing eARC to the Q90R and possibly other models by way of a firmware update "soon". I asked him what his source was for this information and he said it was the local Samsung rep.

This will work with Dolby Atmos speakers, correct?

Hope they add the eArc support to Samsung N950 soundbar too. If Sony can do that to their mid-range and high-end soundbar, Samsung should be able to.

IF Samsung adds full eARC then both the TVs HD audio sources as well as HD audio from devices connected directly to the TV could be passed back to the connected audio equipment which would also need to support eARC.

It makes sense. Someone else also mentioned in the Q70 thead that he asked the person who knows about what upcoming feature these tv's are getting and he replied with it "might" be eARC.

I was advised that it was 15 days. Calling today to schedule a pickup for my q900 I will be happy to come back and update/confirm what they tell me.

Looks like the 75inch and 82inch are up for Pre-Order Purchase on Amazon now. Says "This item will be released on March 28, 2019".

I will probably pull the trigger in a few hours here and just get the 75in from there.

I agree, it is a choice, no wrong answer when you purchase, but at a later date you will find out what the correct answer was on that select item.

Square Trade can be added like someone noted. You can also buy a Mack Warranty as well as long as you have 90 day left on the manufacturers warranty.....

Not sure where you're seeing that, maybe post a link.

QN75Q90RAFXZA returns no search results.

I cannot find the email at the moment, but I'm pretty sure they told me the N950 already supports eARC.

I'm trying to get the EPP discount through the Samsung site. Definitely worth waiting.

To me the comment about the blacks was a on the fly comment to just keep it real so folks keep their expectations in check. Ideally everyone should see the unit for themselves.

The video was helpful as it quickly went over the TVs speakers sound (though the speakers aren't broken in), showed a soundbar etc. Those are some questions that I've seen come up in previous years models.

2019 Samsung Q90R Owners Thread (No Price Talk)

Just picked mine up at the asg shippers hub here in town. Supposed to be delivered Wednesday but figured I’d take less hands out of the equation. Will have it up and running soon. As far as us being early adopters I’m going with the idea that much was not changed on the tv other than processors and software. I bet panel isn’t changed other than the coating.

Unless something has changed flat screens are never ever supposed to be laid down flat like that, the screen can be permanently damaged.
