Laying a modern LCD flat is no problem for a reasonable length ride over paved roads. I brought a 65" Samsung UN6900 and a 55" Samsung Q7C home that way in the past few months. It was a bigger deal with heavy plasmas back in the day.

That's why I got the 82" on order, because I didn't want to lose the EPP price and to me, 6% with the ebate cash back was pretty darn good as well. If I get a bad panel, then I'll just have to be patient and go through the return and replace process. At least I have a 75" Q9FN as a backup :-).

Good to note. I have store this for about a week or two. I was told to store with the screen facing the wall.

Yes, never store it flat. But it is OK to bring it home from a local store laying flat.

I would really like to know if I have a 30 day return or 15. Since I'm storing it for 2 weeks before mounting, I won't know any defects till then.

I've done it multiple times as well. Samsung even has the directions for installing the stand with you laying the TV flat down.

It was my understanding that a FALD set should not be laid flat for transport. Heck I believe they recommend not even to connect the stand.

Wow the 4:3 letterbox gray bars on this panel are pretty bad.

The quick setup guide does show the TV being laid flat on a table to attach the stand to it so I guess they are less susceptible to damage now.

Reflections were my big gripe with the Q9FN -- I almost thought the TV i got was some kind of knock off because the reflections where so bad (almost mirror like). I ended up returning the Q9FN with hopes they will do a better job this year with the Q90. I'm currently waiting to see if they will offer the TV at Costco or Costco.com since you can't beat their no hassle 90 day return period or free extended 4 year warranty when you buy with the Costco visa card.

That isn't always a guarantee, especially since he's a "newbie". Last year was the 1st year Samsung started putting a protective film on the screens, and there were multiple people on here that didn't know it around release time and didn't take the film off for a few days after setting the TV up.

I am a newbie. I haven't TV shopped since 2012. This place helped me out in a huge way in making my decision for the Q90.

Much appreciated guys!

You want them upright as much as possible, they are most fragile when they are laid down, it does not mean damage will happen but it is more likely when they are laid down. I have a truck, so upright they stay. Lay them down at your own risk. Glass trucks hold glass upright for a reason

Really? I have a Q9FN in a bright room with windows and a sliding glass door directly across from the TV behind the long couch where I sit. When I have content on, I never have any problem with reflections. It's not reflection proof, but much better than any other TV I had seen as far as reflections go. I do keep the backlight at 50, so maybe that has something to do with it. When I heard the Q90R was even better, I couldn't wait to see how something already pretty darn good can get even better, so kinda excited about receiving it. This is unlike my previous 2011 Elite that caused major reflections and was extremely distracting depending on the angle I was sitting at even when bright colorful content was on.

The Q9FN was updated quite frequently. Just be aware that they never provide any details and its normally us users that try to figure out what has changed, though I suspect some get the Placebo effect. Samsung always shows the following...which is annoying:

- Improved usability
- Improved browser performance
- Improved app performance
- Improved stability
- Improved usability of input devices

Well tv up and running. Looks as good as my q9. Viewing angles are great. Haven’t had time to really watch much. I’m not as critical as others here. It’s bright, colors look really saturated and blacks look very black.
