The q9fn was similar in that the brightness was way in sdr movie mode when local dimming was set to high. However, on this set when setting local dimming gto high it actually makes the whole image darker and makes the colors weird, similar to the old Hdr+ mode. But when setting local dimming to high, then going over to contrast enhancer but not changing the setting, then exiting out makes the picture literally twice as bright. Hopefully they fix this bug via firmware update.

Does anyone use the one connect wire inside their wall? Is it safe?

Maybe its just the way Samsung do movie mode? I mean it was the same on my Q900 from last year. Is there any reason why movie mode was 2100 nits while standard with warm 2 was 3500 nits? I think they just keep movie mode as a dark room mode.

This sounds like sdr undersaturation panel lottery. I went through that hell with the q9fn. 4 of them.were washed out and 1 of them was good. Maybe the store got a bad panel. Samsung quality control is crap. I jinxed my current set. Everything was going so well and I loved the picture. All of a sudden it stops reading 2 of my devices (cable box, blue ray player). Went through all the troubleshooting steps with tech support this morning and its indeed confirmed that I have a faulty one connect box. Since it's in my return window, I'm not taking the risk to hold on to a faulty product. So back it goes. 6th Samsung TV being returned in the past year. It's really aggravating and frustrating.

Keep the TV and order a replacement of just the box instead.

How does the image of Q90 compare to ZF9. Positives and negatives?

Not even gonna lie, I was so pumped about getting a Q90R before visiting these AVS forums. Now I’m worried. I already ordered one Q90R and it showed up with the screen cracked so I had to send it back. Now idk if I wanna try out the C9 OLED or stick with my gut. All this talk of faulty screen and mixed reviews has me rethinking. As of now I’d still go with the Q90R but all this talk is giving me a lot to think about whereas before it was a no brainer (to me anyways)..

Then you're going to have to wait on more professional reviews from those who have seen both TVs and have the ability to calibrate and measure them.

I think the C9 will have a better picture than the Q90R unless you need to use the TV in a brightly lit room. The C9 is also fully HDMI 2.1 compliant and more "future proof".

On the other hand the C9 is a LOT more expensive and that's a weighting factor for many of us too.

I'd say give it another shot. Everyone likes different things and AVS can be a very critical place 🙂

There is a lot to like with these new Samsung TVs.

Be aware that it is probably not up to code. I understand the cable is not wall rated. In order to be run inside walls wiring must be rated for it. Which is why, for example, there is special wall-rated speaker wire and you are not supposed to put just any speaker wire in the wall. You might want to check your local electrical/fire code.

That does not mean some people don't do it, but they are assuming the risks of not complying with code.

Here is some info from HDGuru (https://hdguru.com/samsung-unveils-r...hd-qled-tvs/):
A company representative said the One Invisible Connection cable is not fire rated and is not recommended for installations behind walls without proper conduit insulation. But its thin form factor and tranlucent white coloring make it less obvious than traditionally bulky power cords and HDMI cables.

If you are looking at the 65" C9, it is the same price as the Q90 -- I was just on the LG website and they are asking for $3499 before taxes. To make the decision even harder, the 65" C8 is selling for under $2500.

This is the way it is on this site. However, no matter what forum you go into whether it is sony samsung or lg there will be more negative comments than positive. Some of the issues currently with the q90 may be fixed with a firmware update. I would wait a few months after a couple firmware updates and more users get their hands on the Q90 and then evaluate the pros and cons. I am still skeptical if this is even a great year to purchase a new TV with HDMI 2.1 and ATSC 3.0 on the horizon.

Yeah I’m in the 65’ market and both the C9 and Q9 are the same price. I mainly watch Blu-ray’s (4K and regular), Streaming services, game on Xbox One X, and watch sports and a few tv shows. I wish Samsung would just comment one way or the other one HDMI 2.1 coming to their 4K QLED’s or not.

Are you running the cable for a long length? I ask because if you are like most people and just running the cable a few feet behind the drywall to hide it, you are not running into any risks. If you think about it, all you are doing is letting the cable hang behind the drywall instead of in front. If you have complicated installation circumstances, it might be a different story.

Do these new tvs with VRR work on computers with NVIDIA gpus? I see NVIDIA enabled gsync for freesync displays but I didn't know if the Samsung tvs worked with it.

When I was having the issue with ARC not working on my Q90 a little over 2 weeks ago, Samsung wanted to replace my One Connect Cable and One Connect Box. I'm not sure about the cable, but the OCB was back ordered and I was told it would be a minimum couple of weeks before they would have any spares that they could send out.

It sounds to me like Samsung still doesn't have any OCB's yet to send out for spares.

Fortunately for me, I bought my TV from Amazon and they shipped me a new Q90R overnight. Otherwise it sounds like I might still be waiting for a replacement OCB.

samsung sells an inwall one connect cable that is up to code as a accessory. At least they did for 2018 models. I recall it was very expensive

No, simple behind the wall installation.
