Samsung's website shows today's date as the release date so it looks like a minor revision to the 1060 firmware update.

South Park is right. It looks like you have to go to Samsung's website to get it. Right now it doesn't show up when I try to update through the Q90R. I show I'm at firmware 1060 also.

This link will take you to the webpage for the download.
1060.6 dated March 26, 2019

Edit: I see Bruc3L3r0y beat me to it.

Edit 2: 1060 & 1060.6 must be the same firmware. When I tried to flash 1060.6 it says "there are no new updates for you at the moment" after searching the USB flash drive.

Pm me and ill help guide you. I know that you prefer more pop over a "reference" image and ive done many comparisons. The combination of various settings is different on the q90, so if i see your current prefer settings i can help you with tweaking those for your q90.

Same here. I just went to software update on the TV and there are no new updates available and I'm on 1060. Samsung has always been terrible with updates and how they are implemented/deployed.

Well, thinking about this a little more and given the fact that I returned my Q9FN for this very reason alone, occasional moments of FALD confusion may still frustrate me, so it’s probably a safe bet that I cancelled my pre order. After all, we all have have different levels of tolerance for certain issues. This is assuming that the Q90 suffers from this issue the same way the Q900 does/did.

So please, if you know something share it. thanks!!
Actually...with a few of you guys calling me out on this, I went back and read all the Q90 reviews again, along with this whole thread and found no mention of the FALD inconsistency issue. Go figure.

In my defense, I’ve been researching the 2018/19 Q900, Q80 and Q90, so I’m probably mixing up various reviews and user reports.

Again, I will be more stoked than anyone if the Q90 is free of this issue. I’m literally down the 82” Q90 or a 77” LG C8 or C9 OLED as my next set. I would rather it be the Q90 for the extra 5” and no risk of burn in. There is nothing worse than obsessing and worrying about static images burning into the screen.

Samsung 82” Q90R * LG 55” C8 * Denon X4500H * 5.2.4 Atmos * Xbox One X * PS4 Pro

You should have the latest firmware as I believe the .6 will not display on the TV, only the 1060 will.. 😀

Previous software was 1060.1 and today it was updated to 1060.6 on the website. However, the software wont install for those of us who are on 1060.1.

Interesting, and you guys tried via USB? I can understand 1060.6 not flashing in but usually the TV will recognize the the lower value (In this case 1060.1)... Is there a USB port on back of the TV? If so that's the one you would want to use. 🙂

The USB ports are both located on the ocb and they both work with fw updates.

Well I did something I normally never do when buying tech... I bought last years model. I snagged a 65 inch Q8FN on Amazon today for $1,738.94. Yes you read that right. That's over 1K less than LAST year's Q9FN at this very moment and almost 2K less than the Q90R I bought and sent back due to a cracked screen. With all the mixed reviews on the 2019 QLEDs and lack of HDMI 2.1 along with this KILLER deal, I just feel like I'm getting the most for my money (by far) by doing this. I'm upgrading from a 2016 KS8000 that's a 55 inch so I'm not expecting much of a jump picture quality wise, but this will be my first FALD set of my life and largest TV I've ever had in my life as well. I'm looking forward to it and by doing this and spending almost 2k less than what I was going to spend, this will allow me to upgrade quicker (maybe in 2-3 years) when hopefully Samsung will have their crap figured out in regards to HDMI 2.1, Dolby vision, eARC, 8K more main stream, and so on.

I'm pretty excited about the deal I got today and I hope there are no issues with the Q8FN.

There are USB ports on the Q90 One Connect Box. The software update feature only asks if you want to check the USB drive when it detects a flash drive is present. Otherwise it only checks the internet.

Samsung: QN65Q90RAFXZA 4K HDR TV * Panasonic: DP-UB820 4K HDR Blu Ray * Onkyo: TX-RZ920 A/V Receiver * M&K: S-150 THX Speakers & DIY: 15" Subwoofer w/ E.D. E15a.22 Driver & Rythmik Audio 380w AMP * URC: MX-990 Universal Remote & MRF 260 Base Station * Samsung: Galaxy S10 Plus

Ok, I can't think of anything else to help?? Unless you guys don't have the file unzipped, and placed by it self, (not in a folder) on your USB drive? I think you guys have everything covered.. Will just have to wait til the next one.. 😕

I already setup my full entertainment system installation on 4/14 in time for GoT. It sucks there’s no sign of the new No-Gap wall mount OR the Q90 Soundbar with Dolby Atmos.

@sd13 , As someone who bought a Q90R I’m just mentioning in a Q90R thread after receiving one that was cracked, along with the many MANY mixed reviews out there right now (most of them being negative) that I didn’t feel spending $3700 on a 65 inch Q90 when I got a 2018 Q8 65 inch for just over $1,700 was worth it.. Seemed relevant to me. Maybe someone else out there would be interested in such a deal with that big of a price difference. Being a tech/TV guy myself, I can honestly say that I understand why these forums exist, but I can also say that in my honest opinion, I think most here are entirely too critical. It’s their right to be that way, of course but I doubt I’ll be back much until next years models come out and people like you are somewhat to blame. You put off that prick vibe. But I guess if I had to send back 8 TV’s in a calendar year or whatever it is you’ve had to do would make me sour too.

For the rest on here, It’s one thing to report a problem and to try and find a solution. That’s normal. But there are many on here that go on the hunt to try and find a problem with a perfectly good tv when it isn’t apparent at all.. It’s interesting. It puts off an extremely negative vibe in what has always been one of the most exciting moments of my life - Buying a new TV! I appreciate the guy who congratulated me on the deal I got today and I hope the rest of the Q90R owners get the best panels possible with the fewest problems.

What mixed reviews? The only reviews out there at the moment are all 9/10 out of 10 and extremely positive on this tv. If you mean mixed "views" by people on these forums then that makes more sense.

Where are all these Many mixed reviews that are mostly negative? We have somebody several posts above who said something similar, stated that he went back and scanned through this entire thread and every review he could find, and he took back what he said which in a way was similar to what you just wrote, though he was focusing on the fald implementation. Your entitled to your opinion, but your conclusion is baseless.

https://www.samsung.com/us/televisio...afxza/#reviews

Small sample size to be sure, but if I've read 13 reviews from Samsung.com, Amazon, Best Buy, and there are more 'not great' reviews than 'stellar' reviews, that's pretty telling. Look, I get it's early, we are all on the same team in my mind. I love Samsung and I desperately wanted them to deliver a 4K set that checked every box that was important to me in their flagship. I wanted HDMI 2.1, eARC, Dolby vision, OLED quality level (or close to it) blacks, and GREAT brights...

What did we get?

No HDMI 2.1, no eARC, no Dolby vision though that doesn't really matter to me, when it comes to the brights and blacks, according to the few reviews there are out there right now, it doesn't seem they've nailed it overall. I'm sorry but if I'm going to buy a flagship TV, I want to see really, REALLY good reviews and for it to be fully featured or damn near close to it... IMO, the Q90R falls short in that area.

Again, small sample size I know, but the little that is out there is all over the place. Which is why I made the decision today that I did. So no, it isn't baseless.

Many mixed reviews? Show me one credible one. The only "mixed" reviews are from people who have zero experience with the set and all these people combined are the ones forming this brigade of so called mixed reviews you are talking about. Your post doesn't belong in the q90r owners forum. You'll have better success justifying your purchase in the q8fn owners forum since that is the set you own, not this one. I own the set and the picture quality is phenomenal. I put my money where my mouth is posting factual observations and pictures. What do you bring to this thread that is of any use???

Is it a coincidence that the invasion of this forum from non owners that are trashing this TV all happen to love their q8fn? Sound familiar?

I understand what you are saying, however most people do not go hating on the TV they buy, however they would like it better then what it is. People say this, that and the other, but most do not return the set if that says anything These are great sets and so are OLED's I guess it nice to have choices......

I've now had the q90r for 5 days. Played with a lot of settings, tried different sources and then reset everything back to factory. I didn't like it at first and I was being over critical. I also noticed I made picture quality worse with my adjustments. The settings are pretty much near perfect out of the box. The TV gets way to bright at night, so intelligent mode fixes that problem. In a dark room back light goes to 20, 50 will blind you. There is also no bad viewing angle.

There is slight DSE, but you really have to looking for it.

My only complaint is that the blacks lose detail. I don't know if it's because I was used to a older TV that never got true black before. But adjusting the gamma to 3 helped.

I just watched Aquaman 4K IMAX and was blown away. Wow. The quality of video makes a huge difference. Netflix is great with 4k content.

Xbox 1x is great haven't found any issues. Nintendo switch is also good.

The remote is easy to use, prefer it over the Apple TV remote.

If you're unsure about purchasing a q90r don't hesitate. Purchased through Samsung EPP.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Do you by any chance have contrast enhancer set to high? Turn it off and you'll get much better detail.

Congrats on your purchase and thanks for your impression. Did you play any lower resolutions? 720P? Curious to know your impressions of the upscaling. What mode did you settle in on?
