My 75" just got processed on Amazon's website. I preordered on March 18. I'm using my Prime Visa for 5% cash back.

Agreed. Local dimming can help improve contrast, but it can also introduce very annoying artefacts. The biggest complaints about the 2018 Qs were due to these artefacts - especially with subtitles. Samsung needlessly compounded these problems by not offering any way to turn off their very poor local dimming algorithm.

I am learning a lot here.. never trust photos! The first picture I took did not look like what I was seeing at all.. as you can see it appears to show blooming. The 2nd and 3rd pictures clearly show that's not the case and more closely matches what I see. Now I'm not even sure I trust those rtings pictures. Btw - I had to turn on the light behind my TV to get a good picture, so that's not light bleed you see in the black bars.

Agreed. I just couldn't believe my camera was adding so much extra lighting to the first picture making the letters appear white instead of yellow.

Well don't forget that review is for a different TV. It is just hard to believe that more expensive 8k TV is worse than 4k. I don't see stars crushed on your pictures. Thanks for sharing!

Shot with Pixel 3 XL. HDR turned off in camera. TV at oob settings so all the artifacts you see are not only exaggerated by the camera, but probably able to be mitigated with some tuning. As you can see from my post count, I am not an expert! Just happy to help.

Pics from HD Bluray of Alien Covenant. I don't notice it unless I look for it, and it's really hardly there when compared to the awesome brightness of the highlights.

That's not blooming in the stars, that is actually there in the film. Colors being washed out from camera aside, that's pretty much how they look. The yellow letters cause no spillage into black bars. Also the blooming that is evident in the last couple lines is not noticeable when watching.

Hope it helped! Now I'm going to go play some games.

This is exactly why I'm hesitant to post pictures of what I'm seeing when my 82" comes next week. I suck at taking pictures of people, let alone images on a TV, so anything I post won't look like what I see in person. The only picture I may take is my dog standing in front of my Q9FN and my 90R just as proof that i own both :-).

Don't forget unless you have a high end camera, the pictures are gonna look nothing like the tv looks. My note 9 camera for example crushes blacks on every tv I tried to take pictures of.

Thank you so much. It's very helpful indeed.

That's actually not bad. I'm pretty sure Samsung has the less blooming of all manufacturers. Sony is pretty bad from what I've seen in videos, but yeah, it's pretty hard to analyse without seeing it in person.

Do you see black crush on movies and videogames (if you play)?

Are the viewing angles as good as they say?

Also, how saturated would you say colors are in the maximum way possible? I like the Samsung colors better than Sony.

Thanks!

Probably nothing or an error but just noticed the specs just say 'yes' to the question of 'Ultra Black?' for the 65" whereas for the 75 and 82" it says Ultra Black Elite like it does for the 65Q900RB ...

Based on? It was mentioned a few years back Samsung only provides the top 4 publications in the UK with review samples and he certainly wasn't one of them. He get's review models from a local retailer, only Philips provide him with review samples ...

I find it interesting that at 9:15 - 10:15 of the video when he turns on LED Clear Motion, Blur Reduction defaults to '0' and 'Judder Reduction' defaults to '10' when they are greyed out.

On my Q90 - Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction both default to '0'.

We both have movie mode selected. I would think they all Q90's would default to the same settings.

If anyone knows a particular specific scene in Netflix that has bad black crush on the q9fn, let me know. I'll try to take pictures of the same scene on my q90r and post them here.

If you look click his comments under the video description it clearly says this is a retail unit.

A few things...

1. He doesn't state in the video that he got it from a retail store - like he does when it is a retail sample.

2. The box was clearly already opened/"unboxed" - you can see the one connect box was already opened; the plastic part of the stand has no packaging around it; there is no plastic film on the TV screen; the accessory bag has been opened and re-taped; the foam/styro bag over the TV is baggy and not a factory fit, etc...

Initial thoughts are none or limited crush. I had a lot less time with the set tonight than I had hoped so my observations are limited (and amateur, regardless). I can confidently say viewing angles are terrific. Unfortunately the only comparison for colors is my old set (8y Samsung UnD8000) which the q90 handily beats. They kind of blew me away at first, but again, not really a fair comparison. I am very happy with the colors though.

1. He only mentions crampton & Moore and plugs them during his reviews, not his unboxings.

2. Concluding that the review unit is cherry picked from the manufacturer just because the video did not include every tedious step is just ludicrous.
