Should have specified yeah. It's these ones on the main page of the service menu (like here https://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-l...l#post57855648)

It is 96.

Thanks, also of some interest is the code behind 'Option'. The L stands for AUO as the manufacturer which you already knew from the AA01 or 02 panel. But also the Q stands for the type of coating/anti-reflection, as you can see for the Q900RB it's also a Q and for the Q8FN it was an M (probably for Moth Eye?). U for UHD and E on the Q900RB probably for 'Eight K' (F was used for Full HD).

I did the same thing through perkspot along with the HW-N650 speaker bar. I ordered the Q80r 65” and it works great! Not seeing any DSE or banding after trying the YouTube DSE hockey test. The screen looks more accurate on Standard Mode when watching cable 720p/1080i. Watching baseball from an Apple TV 1080p on Movie mode with Motion off looks great. I had to turn down some of the reds in cable as it was over saturated on a 4k xfinity box. I see no neon green grass on Apple TV MLB.TV. But if you want great viewing angles, go with the Q80r. I keep on ambient settings and have no trouble with brightness day or night. The color settings on warm 1 or warm 2 seem to distort scenes with the sky and clouds when on cable- too much light brown/amber which looks unnatural to me. The white balance on standard seems more accurate. Overall after some minor tweaks I am impressed!

I’ve gone back and forth on which mode I prefer. Overall I like Natural best for its overall brilliance with colors but then have to live with the neon greens. Baseball is a good example for showing that.

Standard with tweaks can have a similar picture with color space set to native but then the neon greens come back. Still looking for the secret sauce that gives the color brilliance of native color space but then gets the greens at least less neon.

So, who replaced a KS8000/8500 with this set? Been dying to find out some comparisons. Want a 75" set this year and debating if I should stay with Sammy or switch it up. All my 4k sets have been Samsung.

I'm coming from a 2016 55inch KS8000 and my 65 inch Q80R with white glove delivery is set to arrive this Friday so I will let you know what I think of it. I was going to get the Q8FN but decided screw it and payed more for the Q80R. Hope I don't regret it. I'm very much looking forward to it's arrival.

Hdr+ mode activated through the service menu will give you a standard mode style picture without the neon greens.

Where did you hear this from? I might have to try this in the service menu.

I enabled it on my q90r. I'm sure it's there in the q80r service menu as well.

Thanks. I just enabled it. Need to play around with the settings to dial in the picture a bit.

If I figure out how to get into the service menu I'll give this a shot. Does this impact SDR too? What I'm seeking is color space native without the neon green. Standard mode can avoid the neon green by just going with color space auto but at a loss of the color richness that native yields.

For all the owners here, how many of you are using a receiver and ARC for sound for the TV apps and have you had any issues with losing connectivity?

I have an Onkyo receiver and all my devices (cable, Xbox, PS4, Fire TV) are connected to the receiver and from the receiver, an HDMI cable to port 4 (ARC port) on the TV. AnyNet and CEC is enabled on the TV and receiver. When it is working it is great. I can be watching cable and when I select an app on the TV say Netflix, it will automatically switch the receiver to the TV input and sound works fine. Problem is every couple of days, the ARC connection drops. If I go to Sound Output in TV settings, it switches from Receiver HDMI to TV speakers and I no longer hear any sound from the TV apps. I need to disable AnyNet on the TV and enable it to get it to connect again.

Anyone else having this issue? Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks.

Yeah it's for both sdr and Hdr. Make sure you write down all your settings before going into the service menu because it erases them. When you enable Hdr+ you can use native color space without having that neon green look. Don't turn on contrast enhancer in the Hdr+ mode, as it distorts the colors too much in that mode.

Just a heads up for you guys that order direct from Samsung, their freight company "AGS" ****ing sucks.. had appointment today between 9am & 1pm.. im at work so my mom was nice enough to stop by my house and wait, AGS never showed up, no phone calls. Called them 3 times for updates and every time its another hour, another hour.

Ive bought TV's from other companies before and if they are going to be late they at least call you to apologize & let you know the new ETA.

If there is any problem with this TV im going to demand they ship with FEDEX or UPS next time.

Same thing happened to me. Had the 9-1 window and nobody called or showed up. Had to call Samsung who got in touch with the local AGS distributor. They did call me back and kept telling me the driver is running late. Called again at like. 4:30 and was told the driver was stuck at another delivery. Long story short, the TV was finally delivered after 6pm. Worse company ever.

I just got off the phone with the "manager" ... told me the driver is sitll in amityville from 2 hours ago, which is 10 minutes from me, "oh well you know how long island can be sir".
I told her thats a bull**** excuse and then she asked me to please stop cursing at her hahaha.. ive been working in international logistics for 15 years, these people need thicker skin if they are going to run such a **** service. Anyway she said they will deliver ~5pm now. We will see.

TV showed up, luckily my tenant was home to take it in. He said the guys were handling it pretty rough. One of the plastic straps was missing that holds the box together.

They asked my friend what the date was when signing the form, he says its April 12th, then the driver replies "Almost 4/20 bro!!!" What a clown, I know why they were in Amityville so long now.

Hopefully its not damaged when i set it up tomorrow.

AGS was good for me although I ordered white glove delivery so that requires guys that know what they’re doing. They arrived on time, removed the TV carefully from the box in case I decided to return it, set it up, and told me to wait an hour before turning it on since it was cold outside and that can damage a tv. Glad I paid that 50 bucks.

To all those scheduled for a delivery on April 20th, be afraid. Be very afraid.

Has anyone seen the Q70R vs Q80R comparison by Abt? The black crush in their Q80R looks extremely bad sitting next to the Q70R.... wondering if I should go with the Q70R rather than the Q80R (viewing angles not an issue for my setup.)

I'm unable to link to the video due to post count, however the name of the video on YouTube is "The Samsung Q70R vs Q80R - What's The Difference?" by Abt Electronics.

I just watched the video , you can usually fix the black crush by kicking the brightness up a notch or 2 without graying out the blacks, dont know what settings they were using though.

Rtings gave the q60 a pretty lackluster review and said the q6fn was a better TV, and ABT is saying the Q60 & Q70 are pretty similar? That doesnt sound good for the q70 at first glance.

Question.

How many dimming zones has the 65Q80R?

I have a 55Q9FN and I'm thinking of returning it to get a bigger TV. There's no more 65Q9FN here, and the Q90R is too expensive right now.

Would I lose a lot by going from a Q9FN to a Q80R?

Does it have the same good anti-reflective coating as the one in the Q9FN?

I got the 55Q9FN for 1280€, a REALLY good deal. The 65Q80R would cost me 2500€. A lot more to go from 55 to 65, but also a new model, obviously, but the Q9FN is the top of the line 2018, so maybe it's a better deal than the Q80R?
