Looking at possibly purchasing the 75 inch model and I'm not sure if it's going to fit on my tv stand. Can someone tell me the measurements/distance between the legs?

Can anybody help me out with something?

My parents have this TV, and I've noticed when watching it that despite Local Dimming set to LOW, when a scene in a show switches from a brighter scene to even a slightly darker one, the entire image noticeably dims completely a second after switching. This is in SDR content by the way. Is there anyway to alleviate this so that it just maintains the image brightness I have set manually in the settings? It makes scenes that are not even supposed to be very dark, extremely dim.

I got my Q70R for my bedroom TV, but was hoping to get a larger set for my living room (70"+).
My setup isn't anything spectacular. This is the pic I took when I first hooked the TV up. Still gonna do some changes eventually, like mounting the TV on the wall and getting a second Monolith subwoofer.

I also noticed that Movie mode doesn't handle blooming as well as Standard. Even if I make the settings identical, Movie mode dimming zones fluctuate far more noticeably. Noticed this on the gray background in the Xbox One settings menu. Yeah, I'll stick to Standard.

Lived with the 82" Q7DR TV a while

This is a WOW TV. It really is and not just for the price. At 82" and near perfect black bars you get the immersion you want from a 4K HDR Movie. Or any other movie for that matter. Have a COSTCO membership? Great! Use it now! $xxxx - 15% back if you use their Citi card. Mine cost significantly less than that as I had a massive Samsung credit check to use (thank you Samsung).

But for real: AI Up-scaling on 1080p is great. Sports look epic. 4k movies look STUNNING. And I am picky as hell. I don't see much in the way of blooming unless I am hunting for it. My OLED buddy was over recently and we watched some content. He was blown away at the detail and dark renditions. Granted, NEXT TO an OLED it won't fair as well. But in your dark living room, watching a movie, let yourself sink into the story, and VOILA!!!

Will next year's models be better? Sure. Will they have Dolby Vision? Maybe, but probably not.

Best feature outside of picture is the OS. I have used all the major sets' GUI/OS and the Samsung system with their One Remote blows them all out of the water. No LG light saber action, no sluggish Sony menus, no whatever-the-heck-one-would-call-the-garbage-Vizio-makes navigation.

The day-to-day experience of using this TV is exceptional and matched only by the truly awesome visuals.

Someone convince me otherwise, but Movie mode on the 49" Q70R just plain sucks. Picture is beyond dull. Sharpness looks like it fell off the table. Colors are muted (not even natural looking, just lifeless). It basically looks like Samsung took movie mode and switched it out for a Sepia instagram filter. For now, and until I get it calibrated and dialed in, I'll be using normal mode for most viewing. And switch to natural only occasionally.

Also, there should be a sports viewing mode.

So, after deciding to pull the trigger on a Q7 82" from Costco, I see they are now offering the 85" for just $300 more. I'm a believer in the phrase, "no one ever said, 'I should have bought a smaller tv' ", I'm tempted to buy the 85". First, how much larger, percentage wise, is the 85 than the 82? Any reason to avoid the 85? TIA.

Movie is usually only a starting point for calibration, no fire and forget mode. If you are used to Samsung “Disney” color like me years before it took a while to get a “normal” perception for natural colours. If you compare rtings and FlatpanelHD settings, they all push red and blue or reduce green. I measured my TV with HCFR and iDisplay Pro and got nearly the same results. After some back and forth with all three settings (own, rtings, FlatpanelsHD) I go with the FlatpanelHD settings in 2p white calibration. But these are only for SDR...

HDR is a complete other story. Perhaps some of you have more luck, but I didn’t find any HDR settings for a Q70, only SDR. I tried to calibrate it on my own but with no success. It really looks dull. Here I can really understand if you go with Standard mode to get a pleasant picture. Did someone got a calibrated set by a professional?

Which firmware is the TV on? A firmware update fixed the dull looking movie mode, much brighter.

Likely just make the poor local dimming even worse. Same number of zones and a bigger screen.

It's the Q70R, the club version comes with a 5 year warranty, and I believe a different remote and higher wattage speakers.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered a 55" Q70R for £1,199, arrives Tuesday! Should be a nice upgrade over my 40" KU6000..

Are there any calibrated/reccommended settings yet for:

Sky Q?
PS4 Pro?

Just returned my 82inch to Costco and bought the 85inch with the new Citi Visa promotion. With the $570 back I was able to save a couple hundred bucks and still get the bigger model. Glad I was still in the 90 day return window. Just got it up on my wall and it is glorious.

Sweet! I recently ordered the 82" from Costco online, but I canceled the delivery and ordered the 85" as well once I saw the Costco Citi promo, and the $200 price drop for the 85". So now the 85" is only $225 more than the 82", great deal. Seven year warranty doesn't suck, either.

Quick question: 7 year warranty = 5 year square trade + 2 year Costco extended warranty?

No, the club version (Q7R), comes with a Samsung 5 year warranty (as do some other Samsung club tvs), it's displayed on the box. If you use the Costco Visa for your purchase, you get an additional 2 years. All for no additional cost.

What's the DSE situation with Q70, is it comparable to Q8FN? Is rtings sample representative or worst case scenario? ( https://i.rtings.com/images/reviews/...-dse-large.jpg )

Just got my Q70R setup up out of the box. Was very impressed with the picture at first glance in natural mode and Intelligent Mode on. I am coming from a UN55H6350 (2014) that is now my bedroom TV. Remarkable difference between the two to say the least. That is until I realized that my Q70 still had a screen protection film still on it. Apparently the small removal tab in the upper left of the screen was missing or came off with the other films when I removed them. Boy what a difference removing a yellowish 2ml piece of plastic makes. Its was like getting 2 new TVs in 2 days. What a moron I am...lol.

Am planning to have it calibrated in the near future, really want movie mode to look better than it does out of the box. Have to buy a new AVR on premium Monoprice HDMI cables to go with it now as my 2016 Sony STR-DN1060 doesnt have the eARC (which I expect this TV to have in the near future) and full range 4K inputs I need to take full advantage of its capabilities. The 1060 only has one HDCP 2.2 input (SAT/CABLE) and the 1080 I am replacing it with all of them are.

Anyway, glad I got it. God awful beautiful picture. The Q70 is a good fit in their lineup for me. Just wasnt enough added to the Q80 (up $600) and 90 (up $1400)to push me that much higher in price and didnt need anything larger than 65" in my viewing space. Very happy with it.

At risk of being roasted/flamed for not searching the thread, has anybody established any real good basic settings for it yet or will it take full calibration to reign it in visually? TIA

Wow, this made me lol! I'm glad you're happy with it so far! What makes the movie mode unappealing to you?

How are the black levels? I'm always curious about peoples personal experience with this model in a very dark room. How does it handle blooming/light bleed into black bars in movies? Wondering how the real usage of HDR is too. I've heard mixed things about this model.

Movie mode always seems so washed out to me. Not that I am hooked on vivid or standard I guess I like a smidge of pop in my movies if its there to be had.

Ill know more over the w/e after spending some dark hours with it. Have only played around with the settings in broad daylight so far. I think this set is a good middle spot for most people. OLEDs tend to have very good black levels but crush details in the dark. Even the Q90 is guilty of that. This set when compared to the Sony XG95 is fantastic in the blooming backlight area. The Sony is horrid.

Some forum member have a extra black bar at the button of the screen it is heavy black plastic which goes under the screen to protect the manual buttons when shipping it will com off. If you have a extra black border go in to screen settings and change screen to 16:9 Standard. If you run cable from your router to hard wire internet tv use cat 7 patch cord.

Just wondering, is everyone using the video/audio settings from rtings Q70R review or you guys playing it by sight?

I changed Contrast Enhancer to OFF because it was crushing blacks when I was dialing in HDR settings for Gears 5. I kinda miss the punchy contrast & brightness, but I value shadow detail a bit more.

Also, having an issue getting XBOX One X to output Bitstream Dolby Digital to my Q70R 49" via HDMI and back to my soundbar which supports DD. Keep getting error message:

Any ideas??

Not sure about your audio problem. I'm running everything through a Denon 4400 AVR. For Picture, I'm not getting black crush while playing Gears 5. If I turn Contrast Enhancer off, my picture is too dark. I don't play in Game Mode.
Most probably won't like my settings, but they look great to me for HDR games and 4K Blu-rays. I still tweak things here and there, but I've settled on these so far. I'd be interested to try settings others use to see how it looks to my eyes.

This is settings for HDR (My SDR settings are a little similar):
Picture Mode: Standard
Backlight: 50
Brightness: 0
Contrast: 50
Sharpness: 2
Color: 25
Tint: 0
Digital Clean View: Auto
Auto Motion Plus: Custom / Blur Reduction: 10 / Judder Reduction: 5 / LED Clear Motion Off
Local Dimming: High
Contrast Enhancer: Low
Color Tone: Standard
White Balance: Default
Gamma: ST.2084 set at 0

Color Space Settings: Native (have to set to custom to change Color Gamut to DCI and then change back to Native)
Color Gamut: DCI-P3
I believe all the number values for the colors are still the default settings.

I have all Eco options off.

My settings for Gears 5's in-game HDR settings:
Contrast: 50
Brightness: 140
HDR Brightness: 1,200

The Color Space being set to Native shows some slight red tints on faces here and there on SDR content on Netflix, since the Netflix app on consoles forces HDR for all content -- even old SDR shows. Like some faces on 'That 70's Show'.

Most probably won't like my settings, but they look great to me for HDR games and 4K Blu-rays. I still tweak things here and there, but I've settled on these so far. I'd be interested to try settings others use to see how it looks to my eyes.
First, thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

And yeah, I adjusted the menu settings based on my own eyes (not pro calibration or anything), but after making my adjustments I checked rtings settings for the Q70R and just as I suspected they suggest turning everything off.

Have a look if you get a chance:

As we aim for an image that is as close as possible to the content creator's intent, we disable most image processing options, including Digital Clean View, Auto Motion Plus, and Contrast Enhancer. You should adjust these to your personal preference though.

The Samsung Q70R is able to remove judder from all sources, but a few settings have to be enabled. To ensure 24p content is played judder-free, set Auto Motion Plus to 'Custom,' with both sliders set to '0.' This will enable judder-free 24p playback, without adding any motion interpolation.
Finally, they have this to say about Game Mode:

From the base SDR and HDR settings, very few changes are required for a great gaming experience. When you start gaming, it is best to enable Game Mode from the General settings tab in order to get the lowest input lag and use the recommended settings for SDR or HDR. For HDR gaming, it is important to make sure that Input Signal Plus is enabled for the input you are using. Also setting Game Mode to auto will allow the TV to detect when you are playing a game and automatically switch to game mode to offer you the lowest possible in lag.

Yeah, I've read and tried their settings. They recommend setting Movie mode and using the default for HDR that the TV uses. I mean, the picture quality looks good and I'm sure it's the most accurate, I've just been using the current setting I have. Little more HDR pop, if you will. Maybe I'm just happy to be in 4K HDR finally, lol. I know the Q70 is around 800 nits in Movie mode with Warm 2 selected (and possibly higher in other modes), I guess I just want a bright light like the sun or headlights to be brighter.

I know Game Mode has less input lag, but I honestly am not having any trouble with the current setting. Even playing Battlefield 4 multiplayer on my PS4 Pro. Game Mode seems to handle the dimming zones differently, also.
