Picked up a new 75" Q70R a few days ago at Costco to replace a Sammy UN65JS850DFXZA that I bought back in 2016. All in, about the 8th Samsung TV I've purchased over the years.
Trying to replicate my previous setup: DirecTv/ Roku/ BluRay/ Firebox => Yamaha RXA-3050 Receiver => Television, using a single HDMI high-speed cable to the TV and, HDMI/ CEC / ARC. Worked pretty well on the older Samsung 65" using my DirecTv or Roku remotes to power the system on/ off, switch inputs, and control volume. Though, it was prone to the common 'switching' problem, where it would default to AV001 vs. an active source on startup. Device On/ Off, switching, volume, etc. all worked great though.
Haven't been able to get the new TV to behave in a similar manner. I've done tv/ receiver clean resets, switched to new cables, moved around HDMI ports, etc. Can't seem to get the boxes to turn on/ off, or the DirecTv remote to consistently control volume. Samsung's remote is flaky as well. I've read a bunch of threads w/ people having similar problems with a variety of equipment. I did have luck w/ an old Samsung soundbar that I hooked up- seems to turn on/ off/ change volume w/ the Samsung remote.
Question--- I have- has anyone had success running this TV in w/ a Yamaha receiver via HDMI/ CEC/ ARC? Any tricks to get this to work like it did on the old set? Would a fancier Logitech remote work, bypassing, HDMI control altogether?
I don't want to return this TV, but, if I can't get things to turn on/ off/ work seamlessly with the home stereo, I may have to see what Sony/ LG has these days...
