Yeah on Amazon fire devices and the built in app support HDR10+.

It is annoying because I use the hue sync so I need an external source to play content, and light up all the lights. I already own a apple TV 4k, and Nvidia shield, but will now need to get a fire TV to play content.

Would be so much better if Samsung just supported Dolby Vision.

Out of all the native TV apps, Disney+ looks the worst when viewing HDR content.

Was trying to watch Avengers Endgame and the HDR looked terrible. Not sure what it is with the Disney app, but I have this same issue on my other Samsung sets.

Also, I know general consensus is to leave all image enhancing settings off, but how do you guys feel about Contrast Enhancer? I keep it off with SDR content, but HDR with off seems very dim and low is almost too much... I wish there was a setting in between off and low.... super low

HDR on the built-in Disney+ app looks good on my end. I feel Contrast Enhancer needs to be set to Low when using HDR. Off is just too dim. You could try setting ST.2084 to -1 like I do. It's supposed to stop the TV from clipping above 1000 nits. Only a few HDR movies like Captain Marvel seem a tad dim. But I believe it's just how well some content uses HDR since everything else looks great.

How are you able to see the format? I’ve tried a lot of suggestions, and nothing seems to work.

You have to press menu, then scroll over to the inputs, there will be a 'HDR' tag on the input. There is an info button that suppose to do this I think but it does not work for me.

Thats too bad. I assume they could do a software update to support Dolby Vision if they wanted to. Or is there hardware involved too?

*Sorry for two posts, guess I cant edit yet.

Hello, i am buying this tv hopefully, Main point before the long text , please read Post # 21 In this thread in the first page about the black bar.

Can anyone post pictures and tell me if its that bad , or what is it exactly since i dont have it On any of my 4 samsung tv’s.

Please someone verify the problem and post pictures up close of the tv and black bar and say what it is in his own words.

Story : i just bought the tu8000 which sucks to so bad , its pethitec ,I have 3 samsung tv’s in the house and this one is the worst one ... the brightness is Bad ... even when its at max ... i mean beyond bad , thank god it came with a minor factory defect that sealed the deal for me and im returning it and buying a q70r ... if im spending money , might as well spend a little extra for something worth it.

The Q70R is much better than the TU8000. The TU8000 doesn't have Wide Color Gamut and has poor HDR.
The Q70R can get brighter, has Full Array Local Dimming for deeper black levels, better motion handling with faster response times.

Here's a picture. It was hard to capture. It reminds me of one of those security stickers on the inside of movie cases but it appears to be glued to the screen and designed that way.

Im talking about this post guys , anyone can elaborate what this is about? I have 4 samsung tv’s but i dont see this ... anyone can tell me what this is ? Based on his own words

My Q70R is an 82" and an FA01 panel. It doesn't have that strip. After looking at where his Samsung logo is located versus mine, it's definitely different. Like he's missing his bottom bezel.

Yes, my 65" has that very small border on the bottom of the panel as well. But it is really small, you do not notice it at all. I had to turn on my phone flashlight to really even see it. Plus, the pixels don't go all the way up to the edge of the glass, so it is not covering any active part of the screen.

I have the 75" and there is that strip less than 1/4" wide across the bottom of the screen. Mine doesn't stick out like the photos seem to show. I'm pretty sure it's there to cover the remote control, ambient light, whatever sensors behind it. I sit about 10 - 11 feet away and it's not noticeable at all.

Cheers,
Jeff

So it doesnt look like a strip that collects dust or whatever , as you can clearly see on his picture. It looks dirty ?

Its noticable at all? If you move your finger over it how thick is it? What is the propose of it?

Im guessing only 65” has it since spewdom doesnt have it on his tv.

If any of you guys have pictures of your 65”’s from the front with a clear view of your tv can share i would really appreciate it.

I already made the deal and waiting on the tv , its holydays over here so it might be around a week before i get it.

So Its not a deal breaker at all ? The strip.
Not noticable not even1%?

It was either the q70r or the sony x95.

I went with the samsung ✌️ Hope i made the right choice

Thanks a lot guys , Much appreciated.

Just saw your reply , so it doesn’t Go from side to side ?

The picture shows it from the side of the tv .
I guessed it runs from side to side but i think your reply means only the middle of the tv ?
Got me confused with the ““1/4” “ Wide description.

So in your tv it is only in the middle and it is not like in the picture ?

Hope im not Making a conversation out of nothing lol

Let me clarify, the strip goes all the way across the bottom of the screen. It's less the 1/4" in height all the way across.

Cool cool , what’s up with the remotes?

Most youtube videos shows it comes with 2 remotes but some only has one .

Anyone knows why?

It goes across the whole bottom edge of the glass, nothing on the sides or top edges. It is not very thick, about as thick as a piece of paper. Since it does not cover any active pixels you do not even see it when the screen is on. Well you might if you like to sit 6" away from the screen when you watch tv.
It might collect a bit of dust, but nothing worse than the bezel or the screen itself.

It really is not an issue whatsoever.

Had the 65 currently have the 75 all look like that and thats normal. I guess the 82 has a different build than lower sizes as Spwedom’s tv shows.

TS here. The little bezel at the bottom is not meant to be removed. I did confirm a few days after the purchase that other models had the same strip as well as other models. Apparently the 80 does not and there seems to be might be stores-specific models with a thicker bezel at the bottom that covers it up.

That said, it seems they used the strip to cover up the unused portion of the screen to keep a uniform bezel. If you hold up flashlight to it, you'll see there are no pixels under it. I guess it was either that or a big bezel at the bottom. You can't see it from a sitting distance and while I wish it wasn't there, it doesn't hurt the appearance of the TV. You won't notice it.

I've had the TV for over a year now and I'm super happy with it. It's easily the best TV I've ever owned and it continues to impress me with it's brightness, sharpness and HDR. It really feels like it reaches OLED quality at times while not having any/minimal backlight bleed. You can't really go wrong with the TV if you are on the fence.

I cant wait to receive it after this post! The TU8000 i got is just a horrible tv that shouldnt have been made , i didnt know anything about tv’s before i made the purchase ... after i noticed it looked worse than the other samsung’s we have in the house ... i started reading and learning what is edge lit and FALD and all the other good stuff i just found out about a week ago.

set my mind on the Q70R and now just patiently waiting for it to be delivered.

Do you own another model than the Q70r when you said TS?

Are these amazing words describing the Q70r or another Model?

Again , thanks a lot everyone

Well, have had my 65Q7DR plugged in and watching since Thursday 5/21/20 and have been experiencing several glitchy bugs and trying to troubleshoot what the issue is.

Equipment:
65Q7DR
Sony STRDH740 A/V Receiver
Sony UBPX700 4K UHD/BD Player
Channelmaster Stream+
Channelmaster CM7000PAL
AV2HDMI RCA-HDMI converter for old analog equipment

I have the HDMI4/ARC connection on the 65Q7DR connected to the Sony A/V receiver on it's HDMI/ARC(4) input
UBPX700 connected to BD/4K on Sony A/V
Channelmaster Stream+ connected to HDMI SAT/CATV/4K on Sony A/V
Channelmaster CM7000PAL on GAME/4K on Sony A/V
AV2HDMI RCA-HDMI convert on DVD/(not-4K capable) on Sony A/V

My issue with the TV is it keeps losing it's connection to the A/V receiver. Only way I've been able to get it to recognize it again is to unplug/replug the HDMI/ARC connection.
I've tried two different HDMI cables, same thing. Very flaky.

Also streaming issues with 65Q7DR and Google Play Movies. Redeemed the $50 credit and tried to watch "Bloodshot" tonight and it took forever to watch it. Having audio drop issues watching using the Google Play on 65Q7DR, so I switched to the Channelmaster Stream+ to watch it. Got about 30-40 min into the movie, paused it to do something else and when I came back to restart it the receiver lost the connection to the TV and I had to unplug/replug HDMI/ARC to get it back. No audio issues but about 60 min into movie, Google Play on the Stream+ stopped working, it wouldn't let me resume the movie. Tried restarting Stream+, clearing cache in Google Play Movies, logged out, logged into Google. Nada, still won't play any Google Movies. So I switched back to the 65Q7DR Google Play to resume the "Bloodshot" and it didn't let me choose resume (bug?), had to start from beginning and fast forward. Still have issues with audio dropout but finally made it through the rest of the movie.

Haven't seen as many issues so far with Netflix or Prime, except for the annoying loss of connection between A/V and TV.

Getting frustrated troubleshooting - anyone else had these kind of issues with their TV?

Thanks!

set my mind on the Q70R and now just patiently waiting for it to be delivered.

Do you own another model than the Q70r when you said TS?

Are these amazing words describing the Q70r or another Model?

Again , thanks a lot everyone

I had a Q60 and returned it because I found out it had Global Dimming. Q70 was more than I wanted to pay at the time but it was worth it for the FALD. The entire picture would noticeably dim and brighten on the Q60 with HDR. On the Q70, it's very uniform since it has the FALD. I would never get another TV without FALD going forward.
