Anyone go from 82” TV down to 75” TV and survive???

My 82” Q6FN goes back to Samsung on Monday. Can I go from the edge-lit 82” to FALD 75” and adjust down? The bonus due to values would be: the 75” TV will be FREE after the refund for the 82”. And yeah, considering the Vizio P-75 now that it is $1399.

Anyone survive the switch?

I just got the 82" after having a 75", love the size, think 75" would have been sufficient.

For an edge lit to fald for free, go for it.

I personally wouldn't do it.... Very noticeable (especially in a large room).. There are plenty of 82" & 85" TV's to choose from... You'll regret it afterwards.... When my 79" died... I looked at my options... 75" was just too small... I ended up going with a 78" Curved... Best move I ever did. 😀🍿🍿🍿🍿

The interesting thing is, from wall to wall in the viewing area, it is not a huge room. That honestly has made watching movies at the 82 size so damn satisfying. I’m 10 feet away. The wide aspect feels like a movie screen. I am mostly afraid I will lose that feeling of being taken away to a movie theater if I go smaller.

That’s tough. The biggest TV l’ve ever had is a 75” Sony and after a while it seems that l definitely want bigger. But l don’t think l would give up FALD for Edge Lit and the extra 7”. Stretching the budget for an 82” FALD would be the push l’d need, even if it was an inferior set to the 75”.

At 10 ft you’ll definitely lose that immersion aspect with a 75”. I sit about 9.5 ft away and feel lm still not at a proper theater like immersion. Keeping a close eye at the 82”- 85” market to upgrade.

I’d go for whatever gets you into 82” and FALD. I guess that would be the Samsung 8 series 82”?

No. They're all dead. Even by making this poll, you're falling victim to the classic survivor's fallacy.

The only possible conclusion is that you are going to die. The sooner you accept this, the better.

That’s my next logical purchase! Unless l want to really go crazy, forgo a possible projector/screen purchase, and go for the 85” Z9G.

I couldn't imagine going smaller than my 82 inch, every 4 years i have gone bigger, 55-70-75-82

I tend to keep the older tv that i am replacing to go into one of the spare rooms, i notice the difference.

I'd make the most of this opportunity to go to a 85 inch

Denon X3200W
Bower & Wilkins HTM72 Centre, M1 & PV1 Sub
Samsung 2014 75 inch and Samsung 2018 NU8000 82 inch 4K
QED Speaker Cables and HDMI

David Hogg had to downsize to a 75 inch in his new dorm room and he managed to survive, yet again. I swear, that kid is like a cat.
