Thumbs up Philips makes the Best Cheap TV!

I was at Walmart looking at TVs and Philips had the best picture quality there with the best peak brightness and vivid colors...the Blacks looked really good too!

Philips looked much better than TCL and Hisense and Vizio!

Philips might be my next TV!

Phillips is made by Funai in the US market...better than TCL, Hisense and Vizio?...interesting and differing opinion from the norm

They were all likely in display (torch) mode to stand out under the glare of the store's bright industrial lighting. You'd need to have them all in a home environment and optimize each TV's settings to be able to assess which one really looks best under home viewing conditions.

Watch out, that Hisense H8F will blow any Philips TV out of the water.

My current mancave room setup:
Vizio V436-G1 4K HDR TV | LG UBK90 4K Blu-ray player | Denon AVR-S740H AV Receiver (running 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos and DTS:X) | Xbox One X | Roku Ultra (2018 model)

We were all young and foolish once. One of the first lessons we learn in the A/V trade is to not judge a TV in a store.

Peak Brightness and Blacks should not be this good on a cheap tv!

They still have the 2018 Philips tvs on display at Walmart right now, the new 2019 models will not be coming out until later this year. I'm looking for a 75 inch for around $800 or so. I'm hopping the 2019 models will be even better and blow the Hisense H8F and H9F out of the water.

@musicman777 I kinda doubt it, that Hisense H9F is already looking like the best overall value for the year that I don't think you'll get any better around that price point, not even the TCL 6 series unless you prefer Roku over Android TV.

Philips makes some good products. I've bought some of their stuff over the years. I don't doubt that this Philips TV is good for its price. Whether it's the "best" in class or not is a matter that would only be settled by detailed testing such as done by folks like rtings.com who measure and compare performance numbers. For some reason rtngs.com hasn't reviewed a single Philips TV.

Looks like that might be a real Phillips TV (based on your link)...Phillips does make good TVs....definitely no question about that...hey if it works for you, go for it...try to play with the settings as much as you can in the store though

Maybe a Canadian issue, they might not have them up there where they are from? I don't know but just thinking it could be.

From these reviews so far the best TVs you can buy in 2019 are

The LG C9 OLED is #1

The Philips PUS6703, I saw at Walmart is #2

The Samsung Q90R is #3

https://www.whathifi.com/best-buys/tvs/best-tvs

That makes the Philips the best low priced TV that they have reviewed

You sure it wasn't https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/50PF...specifications
Would all have been so much easier had you simply taken a pic of it .
The 6703 is a fine set but it's on a performance level of a NU7000 and like others have said the 6703 is a TP Vision model and North America is not it's distribution region. I don't see any Ambilight models on the Philips USA website ... (6703 also doesn't come in 75" in Europe, hardly any Philips model does).
The brightness doesn't reach 400 nits and it doesn't have any sort if wide color gamut nor dimming. Models ending on a 4 will be the 2019 models ...
They are touting the PUS7304 as 'The One' if you want to read up on it. An affordable model that covers all the bases, supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ for example and also has their P5 picture processor that's lacking on the 6000 series models ... (but it still shouldn't become available in North America).

Hey I am all in on a cheap TV discussion! :-)

general comments only:

1. I also a Phillips TV in Walmart. Most unimpressive. Not very bright. And poor color reproduction.
2. On the flipside, I find the inexpensive Insignia and Toshiba lines at best buy to be a very good value. I wish these brands came in a 65 inch option and as a " dumb" TV as well. Nothing A Roku stick can't cure.

You know what they say about opinions and....-> " Everyone's got one"

Just saw this was put up by Philips (in Europe), the aforementioned 'The One' (unlike Sony the new Mediatek SoC, if not newer, should be inside the cheap models as well). Seems to me this matches up to Panasonic's 2019 GX800 series: both 60Hz, both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, Dolby Atmos support as well, brightness should be in the same ballpark, dimming not worth mentioning. Only the Philips has Ambilight and Android TV and a silver frame.

So, this model is not likely to have been seen in a Walmart.

This is a UK model. Ambilight is only available on certain Philips monitors.

This is likely the model you were looking at.

Unless you're in the UK, than I'll just be quiet.
And if that is the case I'll be jealous cause the Funai made displays have been pretty hit or miss.

There is no Walmart in Europe (and he also mentioned Vizio so that pretty much rules out the UK as a location)

Walmart bought a chain of department stores in the UK called ASDA and are in the process of converting them over to walmarts.

That was my hesitation

Was aware of that indeed (that they had acquired ASDA, didn't see they were converting them/renaming them when I searched for Walmart & UK. I could have sworn I saw pics of a Walmart in the UK in the past so the suprise was bigger to me that there weren't any at present. But it was probably a different US chain then ...The ASDA rebranding also doesn't seem to go any further than incorporating the Walmart symbol into the ASDA logo, renaming them completely would seem a bad idea anyway: UK buyers appear to be quite UK brand loyal).

On topic: the Philips 7304 seems to be available in a few sizes on Amazon Germany: https://www.amazon.de/Philips-43PUS7...ob_neva_mobile

The Philips model number they have at Walmart is 65PFL5604/F7 and to my eyes it is the best they have on display at Walmart.

The have a 2018 Vizio Quantum Dot was still on display there and to my eyes the Philips had a better picture than the Vizio!

Now that's Bang For Your Buck!

This will be my next TV !
