It just works. I do have the hotfix release on the 2019 Shield. But that's pretty much required for proper color space switching.

Shield firmware 8.1.1(32.7.301.52).

TV firmware 4.0.20.3.

Well I don't get that DV option for sure, tried looking for the 32.7.301.52 and while I see reference to it in the Stickies I dont see a link to sign in a get it. I'll keep looking..

Did the release notes mention the Vizio P series specifically or was it a leap of faith? Sony owners have had success I see.

I signed up for the hotfix when I first got the device. Color space switching was messed up since day one.

Nothing was ever mentioned about Vizio specifically. But perhaps one of the three updates addressed the issue you are having. Or it's something else.

There was a link in the Nvidia forums for how to sign up. Their forum software is a nightmare to use so I don't have a link for you.

Yes, at one point they issued a warning not update Vizio TV's firmware.

And I agree their forum is a mess and the 2019 Shield is not really handling the HD video formats right.

What I don't get is, I have the 2015 Shield without DV support and it work rather well and the 2019 is a striped down version but build on the same chipset even though they claim it's new. Reports say internally it much the same with added HDR, DV support. You would think this should be a piece of cake building on their past experience. But so not. Sure hope they get it together soon.

OK. Seven is my lucky charm. The replacement PX75 was delivered yesterday by Vizio. I asked the delivery guys to wait until I put few test patterns on the screen to make sure the panel is acceptable and to my relief, white uniformity was good. No DSE although these vertical banding were there BUT I can live with these as they don’t really show up in real content unless I look very hard for them. Keeping the enhanced viewing angle on helps (just in case). I must say that I am very satisfied with this set and as a bonus, I also received the silver/black remote which is very nice.
This TV is a keeper although it has the same issue some of my other rejects had, TV will not power up, the on light is lit but the set is unresponsive and dark. Unplugging/plugging it “fixes” it. Also, the TV rebooted itself while I was watching content. Not sure what was this is all about. Will have to monitor. All in all, it is about time I can start to enjoy this beautiful TV.

Maybe it's a cec, network, or casting problem causing the weird power issues? I had weird things happen while connected to my 5G but connection to 2.4G and factory resetting fixed most of them. I ended up connecting via ethernet cord eventually though. How many of your TVs had the power problems? Also, how many other surge protectors or outlets have you tried?

Thank you for your post. Out of the seven, 3 exhibited this power issue. I have a good surge protector. The TV was set to CEC. I changed it to ARC only. Will continue to monitor.

Me too and quite frankly I hardly ever search or read on that forum (Nvidia GeForce) due to it's format. Even when you get to a topic of interest the thread is so hard to get a handle on what's new...what order it's in....just a mess.

I just moved from a Roku 3 after years of use largely because I wanted to get my Plex media off the laptop and run it from an external SSD and I didn't want to move to a NAS.

My experience with the Shield Pro is just a month old but there certainly are some hiccups with it.

I have returned my PX65 to Sam's.

The rebooting of the main page appeared again and I saw, on every other input, some fine horizontal colored lines appearing randomly.
I can't wait anymore for a software update that might or might not fix that.

Sam's had the 65" LG NanoCell 8 series for $750, so I got that. Sure, is not, on paper, even close to the same level as PX65, but for now... it just works.

So, new issue on my Vizio that's reproducable 100% of the time.

When aircasting or watching on my cable box (plugged in via HDMI 1); when I turn the Motion features on, I get FLICKERING during bright scenes. Primarily commercials, and when the camera pans to the crowd in a sporting event and cameras flash, the whole screen flickers.

It drove my wife and I nuts until FINALLY I figured out that this setting was causing it.

It was flickering while aircasting music from Apple Music.

Contacted Vizio who will be issuing me my 4th replacement.

Too bad because this set has been the most tolerable of the lot I've received.

Their QA is simply horrendous. At least their Customer Support seems interesting in resolving problems.

My screen flickers/pulsates with clear action on during certain/most content as well. I just leave it off because I haven't seen any benefit of using it, just negatives.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but in my experience with my PX75, no behaviour which you would normally call "strange" is in fact strange. I find a new problem almost daily. Today, my CEC between my TV/Denon/Shield seemingly broke. Volume display stopped displaying.

Yesterday it was the Motion features causing flickering. Day before it was the screen turning on spontaneously in the night.

It's just one thing after another.

EDIT: I've gone from a PQ65 --> PX75 --> PX75 (2) --> PX75 (3) --> Sony X900F ---> PX75 (4)

All Vizio TVs experienced bizarre behaviours _and_ poor panels. X900F's panel was crap and looked super dim compared to the Vizios.

This year's TVs were all junk.

😲😲😲.....man, that's crazy.
I agree with you about how the tvs are today. It's hard to find a really good panel nowadays. I have 10 y/o plasmas that work and still produce really good picture. I wish they would come back out!
I have til February to return my 75PQX so until then, I'll monitor it. Other than the pics I posted, the tv has been great. I'm just now getting the time to enjoy it since i just started my vacation.
We'll see. In January, CES will announce the new tvs and if I see potential, I just might take this tv back and wait.
Apparently vizio might be going OLED and 8k next year.

You probably got one of my returned. TV will not turn off, TV will turn on by itself. TV will not turn on......I am getting used to these quirks. Still love what it does when it works.

Glossy Black Strip at Bottom

Has anyone noticed that there is a glossy black strip at the bottom edge and it appears that it might be removable, like a tape ? It runs the entire width and is a little over 1/4" wide. The sides and top do not have this same glossy strip and I am wondering if it is suppose to be removed. I have already removed the clear protective tape on all 4 sides.

it looks like you can remove it but it actually covers the ir sensor and is part of the TV.

My px75 exhibits the same random power off issue. 3 days ago I unplugged it, then held the power button on the display down for ten seconds. It hasn't done it since but I won't be surprised if it happens again. The software has a lot of bugs.

How did you get 32.7.301.52 on your Shield? I have signed up for hotfix releases but I am on 37.7.301.43 as of this morning.

I asked for the first hotfix and I've got each update that has come out automatically.

We must be looking at something different. I have the 75" and there is nothing covering my IR sensor. I do like that the IR sensor housing is a smoke plastic. On my P65 from last year, the housing was a whitish plastic and it stuck out like a sore thumb.

Anyway, I suspect the black strip at the bottom is purposeful and cosmetic but it is a little distracting once you notice it because it has a glossy sheen that the side edges and top edges do not.

Not sure if this is already mentioned, but my TV stopped powering up itself after I changed power mode from eco mode to quick start.

Brief Black Screen Anomaly

Now it may be a coincidence as this wasn't happening with the old tv....

When watching cable TV I'm getting very intermittent video loss for a second of two. The audio will continue but I just see a black screen briefly. It can happen every half hour or so. I don't recall it happening when watching downloaded content or streaming via my Nvidia Shield.

Is it possible this could be an HDMI cable issue? Seems odd that it happens on cable TV but not on different input when streaming etc.

Thanks...

This might seem like an odd question, but..... what's everything that comes in the box?

I paid for the Ceva "White Glove" service from Costco. The delivery guy was not very helpful beyond "get the TV out of the box and power it on, then get the hell out". He took away the packaging as expected, but all I got was the remote and power plug. Was there supposed to be a user manual, or maybe an HDMI cable or something?

Oh and BTW, and he was 90 minutes early. You'd think he wouldn't be in such a rush, FFS.

TV, legs, small cardboard box with remote, batteries and screws for legs. Quick start guide but the manual is on line. Pretty standard contents.
