Vizio P659-G1 VS M658-G1

Hey guys,

Two days ago, I purchased the P659-G1 and finally got it setup last night. I noticed today they lowered the price $50.00 so I was planning on going back in to ask for the adjustment. I noticed the 2019 M658-G1 is actually $500 cheaper with the sale price. From what I could tell, you do get more local dimming zones with the P series and a brighter panel.

The room is completely dark and I will be sitting about 7.5' from the panel. Currently using a Xbox One S as source but have plans to get a dedicated player in the future. I am coming from a Panasonic plasma from 2012.

I am curious if anybody would suggest returning the P series Quantum for the M series Quantum? Is the P series worth the additional $500?

Thank you guys!

Hey Aus1095,

I just bought the P659-G1 from Walmart (got it for $998), and upgraded from a 3-4 years old Sony 1080P LCD. Honestly, I don’t notice THAT big of a difference. Maybe the Sony was just really good at displaying 1080, or the Vizio is just mediocre?

At any rate, I have seen the M-series in running in store, and it looked fine (to me). For a different of $500 (I could have gotten the same M series you’re referring to from Costco for $629 on sale), I want to say do it. But again, this coming from someone who is having a difficult time seeing the difference between my old Sony and this new Vizio.

I cant find it anywhere in the menus, and this is my 5th vizio so im familiar with them. Content always plays in its native resolution, no matter what. Any help would be greeatly appreciated

I would return the P659-G1 for the M658-G1 and pocket the $500 savings. In a heartbeat. Or find the extra scratch for the P Quantum X.

My humble main system:
Vizio M75-E1; Oppo 203 universal UHD player; Denon 4300H AVR, Dual PSA S1801's; Monitor Audio Silver RX-6 mains, RX center, and RX surrounds; one pair NHT mini Atmos speakers; Home-built HTPC (Xeon E1230, 16gb RAM, Crucial M500 480gb SSD, GeForce 980Ti, Corsair CX600, CoolerMaster mini-ITX case); Roku Premiere+; Amazon 4K Fire TV
