Samsung Q90R/900R Vs Sony?

I was at one of my local electronics stores I deal with and my usual guy is out for a few months apparently and I was talking to someone I've never dealt with before. I told him that I'm really interested in the Samsungs after seeing my coworkers Q90R and he didn't really want to talk about them that much but instead, he showed me the new Sony's namely the X950G he was telling me that most of his clients prefer the X950G over the Q90R and that the Sony is cheaper with better picture quality. I told him that seeing as my current tv(Panasonic DX900) is the best I've seen to date for FALD LED with only the Sony Z9D in the same class and as much as I like Sony I feel like the X950G would be a step down from the Panasonic hence why I wanted to look at the Q90R/900R but I would also like to see the new Z9G which they didn't have yet. I've never had someone who sells the product(Samsung) actively try to talk me out of buying it before. On the other hand, he is giving me a great deal on the Panasonic UB9000. Is there something I should know about this years Samsungs?

Between the 950G and Z9F, I'd lean towards the Z9F unless you are looking to save money. I do prefer Sony over Samsung due to their overall approach to picture quality, processing, and motion. Out of the box cinema settings are more accurate.

Have you looked at the A9G?

FYI the Z9G comes in starting at 85" model and is like $12k.

Yes I have seen the A9G and might consider the 77” although I might want to go 80” or larger but not sure yet. If I stick to 75” then the A9G will probably be set I choose.

If you don't have a concern about burn-in and don't have light shining directly on the screen, the 77 A9G (or even the 77 C9) will easily have best the PQ compared to the Samsungs and the X950G. The Z9G is certainly a great option if it fits in your budget.

Well, I will purchase a PS5 I only consider myself a casual gamer only buying anywhere from 0-3 games per year so burn-in shouldn't be a problem. I also don't have much natural light in my home theater room I'm going to be sitting about 12 feet from the tv. I'm not sure 77” would be big enough or go to 85”

I wouldn’t listen to that sales guy. The fact is, most of them don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. It’s shocking to hear what they say to customers sometimes. I would suggest that you judge for yourself.

The Q90 is a great set. I’ve recently owned and compared the Q9FN, 900F, Z9F & Q90. I also own A1E and C8 OLED’s. The best of the bunch for me is the Q90.

Samsung 82” Q90R * Denon X4500H * 5.2.4 Atmos * Xbox One X * PS4 Pro

My coworker recently picked up the 75”Q90R and I was shocked at how good it looked. I saw a few horror videos on YouTube from someone called Quantum TV or something like that and he was showing absolutely awful videos of terrible light bleed & blooming on the Q90R but I saw none of that in my coworkers set maybe he hit the panel lottery but it looks great. I do like then gap mount and the one connect box so ill have to really look closely at them.
