Also whoever is saying the motion sucks on this TV are lying or maybe they are more susceptible to motion. I see no motion problems at all. What TCL did with there upscaling algorithms this year is just truly a sight to see. No banding, no cross hatching dithering, no micro blocking or artifacting ( but that mostly has to do with the source and not the tv necessarily). What Rtings doesnt tell you that 2019 6 series has QUAD CPU processing compared to last year's 2018 DUAL CPU processing. That is HUGE. This TV comes very close to OLED. No joke. It's not OLED. I didnt say that but comes very close. I can't praise enough on the quality of the upscaling. HDR is alittle dimmer then the 2018 6 series but not by much and it's still bright enough to bring out the HDR highlights. The black uniformity and contrast are out of the world. I am serious go get the tv for yourself. The colors are natural and not over blown like the H9F. My buddy has the H9F yes it will wow you at first but then after awhile you are like yeah these colors are way overblown. Not saying H9F is a bad tv mind you but the TCL beats it. Rtings has this wrong and must have gotten a bad panel. I have very very little vignetting. It's there if you look for it on a blank color background but not very noticable atleast on my panel. So in conclusion. I'am just say WOW to myself. The upscaling alone is worth the buy alone let alone the Quantum Dot. Rtings never even brought up that TCL introduced Quantum Dot this year in there review. I started a thread about that under there review on there site and they updated the review to reflect that. I mean really?? Its the first year TCL implimented QD. Rtings mentions QD on other TV reviews.

Any way I'am rambling here. Go get this TV. I was a TCL skeptic til I bought one.
Digital trends just came out with the review for the 625, they said last years model is better, might want to check it out.

Anyone have issues with the TV's vudu or fandango app playing UHD movies?

They will play HDX format fine but fandango app will sit at the start screen indefinitely with UHD as if I hit pause, and VUDU just says "unable to start playback. Please try again later, or contact vudu customer care for help".

Might want to go settings > about > restart and see if it resolves.
I'm on the most recent 1008 firmware and was having issues with the apps only playing pcm (toslink out to reciever) and after a restart it's now playing Dolby digital like it should.

Could be your internet connection, I think you need at least 16gb connection for UHD

Hey y’all, I’ve had my H9F for about 3 months. Noticing it’s quite grainy when watching movies & shows (Netflix/Disney+/etc). But when I watch YouTube no grain...

Could this be based on settings or just depends on how the stuff was filmed and if they added additional grain in post?

If anyone has had this issue lmk!

Thanks!

I have Vudu on the H9F.

Sometimes I have to try play twice. If I hit play and it just sits there for a few seconds, I hit return, then play again and it starts right up.

What firmware you on?

I have not noticed excessive grain on Disney+.

Where I see it most is old SD material being blown up to 4K.

Why am I not able to disable the speakers on the 55h9f? Has anyone else noticed this or am I missing something?

I have to disable HDMI control cause every time I turn up the volume on my yamaha reciever the stupid tv speakers turn up also, so ridiculous

Can anyone tell me the distance from the front of the stand to the back edge of the TV? Specifically, I need it about a 1/2” in from the edge. My ET center is only 56.5” wide which won’t fit any 65” and there is limited distance between the front edge of the stand and the front of the hutch.

I’ve measured a couple of other TV’s but they’ve all been either too long or too close for comfort.

If this is too long, I’m going to either have to go LG OLED or stick with a 55”.

Thanks in advance.

Probably too soon to tell with the R8. Says peak brightness is 700 vs 1000 for the H9F. Might be a concern if you are in a bright room.

H9F has 100 and 120 local dimming zones, unclear what the R8 has.

This thread has quieted down which I think points to people being happy with the H9F.
I expect the R8 to be similar to the H8 with the major difference being it's running Roku instead of Android TV.

I only hear the H9F when my AVR is off.

Are you sure you're hearing the H9F speakers at the same time as your AVR. I'm using ARC also and I don't hear the tv speakers, but the volume level does show on the TV when adjusting my sound bars volume. My sound bar use to turn up in increments of one and go to a max of 30 which the volume pop-up on the tv matched. I got a update to the sound bar that changed the increments to 2 and up to 100 max and the tv volume pop-up now matches. Even if I use the physical buttons for volume on the sound bar it shows up on the tv but I don't hear the tv speakers unless I turn off the sound bar.

I probably should have mentioned that I'm not using input 1. I dont think my
RX-V3800 has ARC and there is no way to disable the tv speakers. If I dont disable hdmi control the tv turns up when I turn up the reciever volume

All i picked up the 55" H9f. Are there any caveats or things I should know? I have not calibrated it yet. Could someone point me to a place for the best settings to use other than RTings? Thank you.

If you wall mount it use spacers.

Good point, I used the 22m spacers in this kit between the tv & vesa mount I already owned & it worked well.

Check firmware, you want J1008.

Calibrate grayscale for your environment. If you have a bluray get Spears and Munsil. If not somewhere within the last 10 pages are some youtube videos for that.

Why is it that you can't find the tv anywhere. I guess Hisense isn't making alot of these. Wonder why this is. I was just curious.

Hi all- Mounting question here...

I am planning on replacing an old Sony with the HiSense H9f 55 inch...it will be mounted over a fireplace, ideally going onto the old mount which is already installed. I am having a hard time making out exactly where the VESA holes are on the pictures of the back of the tv from the web. Can anyone tell me better where they are...are they on the bulging lower part of the tv, or higher up on the thinner part...any better pics of location would be great, and much appreciated. I want to make sure the TV will fit appropriately on the old mount and not run into trouble with the fireplace mantle.

Thanks-

Ben

Because people buy them fast, it's one of the best tv's out there, better than tv's twice it's price.

Hisense is the most popular tv in the largest county on the planet. The H9F was very popular this year so perhaps they cannot keep up with demand.

Are you not happy with your R625?

It's not that. It's because places like Amazon and Best Buy arnt getting alot in and are the only ones selling them. I spoke to someone at BB. These are really the only 2 places to buy them. One other store is Brandsmart.

Anyone know if the H9F will play MKV files off the USB 3.0 drive?

Hoping to pick up a burner and copy all my 4k UHD movies over to a flash drive to transfer between TV's to eliminate the need for several 4k blu-ray players in each room.

Are you sure you're happy with the 625? You seem to spend a lot of time focusing on the H9F. Just buy you one already.

I'm telling you, this tv is bad ass, once you get the settings correct, I'll put it against any tv out there. The brightness, blacks, motion, and colors are amazing. I just noticed it's going for 1500 to 1700 on Amazon by other sellers, you should of got it for 800 a couple weeks ago when you had a chance!!

Is there a way to downvote a comment? I picked up the H9F again at the Black Friday price, giving it a second chance after returning the first. I'm still not sure why more people aren't complaining about the vignetting and yellowing. This one has the same deep yellowing and dark corners. Aside from that, I agree the motion handling is good for its price, and colors, although saturated look good, aside from the discoloration from the vignetting, and the cloudiness. The blooming is also pretty bad against black or dark backgrounds. The software is awful, and the remote requires absolute direct line of sight.
I'm keeping this one, but it's by far not "bad ass." It's "I guess I'll keep it." It's not going for the prices you listed, believe me. It may be listed at those prices, but no one's stupid enough to pay that much for this tv.

Pre J1008 I was second guessing myself, bad banding and gradients were such a distraction.

With J1008 and getting grayscale right, now I'm just enjoying it.

It mounts from the bottom , you will need spacers to make it flat so it mounts flush. The kit I bought came with everything I needed. It was realistically straight forward
