Most of my LCD displays have darker corners to some extent.... even my Sony Z9D.

I think it’s premature to say it’s an acorns the line QC issue.

True, and I agree it is too early to assume things. But also that looks to be less regular vignetting and more brown spot. Which isn't good, especially for that guy.

It's be ignorant to ignore TCL's QA record from last years model, so as much as it's true it can't be indicative of all their new displays, they are kinda 'on the watch list' for these kind of things.

Let's just hope they have sorted the general dse issues, if they have I'll be a happy camper.

I'd be extremely PO'ed. Send it back before it becomes worse.

I'm curious about a couple of things. Does that little dark spot show on other theme backgrounds, or just the gray one ? Is it visible in day to day content ? Also am curious as to which firmware it came with, 9.1.0 or 9.2.0 ? The reason I ask that is because that background and option for a daily background are not there on 2018 6 series sets with 9.1.0. I was thinking that if you were on 2.0 we may have a little something to look forward to when 2.0 works it's way down.

I did not look at firmware.. i will later this evening.. but the spot is there on any background.. its not very noticeable but should not be there.. looks like a pressure point or a smudge on backside of screen..TCL suppose to call me later today. If they do not call me today its going back to amazon..First try with TCL and it has to have this on screen..I guess crap happens..And amazon doesnt have any in stock. The tv overall is great.. i did not view my cable box..Just roku and my xbox one x..

Seems hard to get a TV without any imperfections these days.

I have dealt with TCL in the past, and they seemed very responsive. In my case, I didn't give them a chance to fix things, I just sent the set back to Amazon. They did acknowledge that there was a problem that they could fix via firmware, but because of some minor damage to the box due to shipping I was not taking any chances. I waited for BB to get them in stock and purchased it there. This is going back a couple of years and the TV was the P series. After watching a little girl ( all of 110 lbs ) trying to make it up my driveway with a 55 inch TV ( no hand truck ) I'm amazed that any TVs survive Fedex. lol

That does look bad. Looks like something could have been damaged to me. Normally dark spots if there are any are dead in the corners. Yours look to be away from the corner a little. I have the original 70 inch Sharp with the dark spot in all 4 corners. I never even noticed them until someone AVS posted about seeing them. (damn you AVS )

Mine was not shipped by ups or fedex. It was XPO logistics.. But went down and pick item up myself.. And there was only damage to front of box not bad.. And he told me that they inspected before releasing it.. The thing is when will bb get them? I will see what TCL says to me today..If its going to be a week or more i am sending it back to amazon..

Hate to say it, but if you're looking that closely, most TVs at this price range (and higher), will fail the test. I assume the good news is during real content, the brown dot is normally not noticeable from more than 6 feet away?

OK good to know, heard about this before but figured it would be a smaller dot on the screen.
I'll see if I can ignore over the next few days.

Any settings or features anyone want me to test out for you?

I don't really know much about tv's, and I was going to pick up a samsung q70r, then i heard about this release. Is the samsung better quality? or should this one be on par? would it be worth the investment to pick up the q70r over this?

I'm sure it's better - but I cannot imagine spending $700 more for an incrementally better display. YMMV.

I have one in the bedroom and it’s ok. I had a vizio quantum from last year that looked better. Too bad for vizio qc.

I've been through this process before, so I think I can help you (Q90R owner here):

1. You either like or HATE Roku TV. I prefer Samsung's OS because I can quickly change TV settings and I'm always playing with my settings depending on the material (movies, lights off, gaming, sports, documentaries, etc.). Roku TV is very limiting and you have to access the deeper settings through the Roku App.
2. Q70R is a solid 120Hz panel, the TCL 6-Series 65R625 is only a 60Hz panel. This will be obvious in motion, 24p material and gaming.
3. Q70R supports more gaming resolutions than TCL.
4. But if none of the above matters to you, and you mostly watch streaming that outputs 60Hz content so you motion issues are less pronounced, the new 6 Series is worth considering.
5. But for the same price as a 65" Q70R, why not consider the 75" 6-Series that does have the 120Hz panel and you get the larger screen?

I'm waiting for the upcoming 8 Series which will be priced to go head-on with the Samsung Q80.

Haven't found that yet, I'm thinking it might only show if you have a compatible phone (iPhone \ Pixel).
I have a Samsung phone.

I'm having trouble getting my PC to see this as a HDR screen. Besides replacing the HDMI cable anything I'm missing?

That's my understanding based on what CNET has said (and others here): https://www.cnet.com/reviews/tcl-55r...oku-tv-review/ Although they are specifically reviewing the 65" 6-Series (last generation), they said that the 75" model is indeed a native 120Hz panel.

Looks like it'll pause up to a maximum of 90 minutes. If a 16gb is 30 minutes, you'll need a 64gb stick (since they don't make a 48...)
A thumb drive larger than 16GB will not give you more pause capacity than 90 minutes. I have three (3) TCL sets and dropped a 16GB flash drive in USB port in each one that gives 90 minutes of rolling DVR capability. Handy for sporting events on Saturday and Sunday. Tune each one to an individual OTA channel and if you don't change channels you will have a 90 minute buffer to use for quick replays or rewind to catch up on missed activity.

Thanks! I was working off the info that was given - he said he had a 16gb drive in his, and only got 30 minutes.

Did you set the HDMI input on the TV to 2.0? Mine are always defaulted at 1.4 or auto, and auto doesn't always trigger HDR (this is on a previous model but should still apply)

Thats very strange and kind of lame imo. But does make the 75" even a better option.

Install a 16GB flash drive in USB port and enable LIVE TV PAUSE in settings and you should get a buffer of 90 minutes for any Over the Air channel. Useful for quick replays to catch missed dialogue or for sporting events to rewind and catch a missed play.

I wouldn't say cut down. The fact that Samsung does not have Dolby Vision and the TCL does is a huge selling point. I'm not sure the Samsung can decode Atmos (not sure), and the TCL calibration app could be a really cool feature.

Watch the unboxing video from this thread. You can see an uncalibrated - right out of the box tv versus a Q90. Judge for yourself, the Q90 is a bit brighter but this tv hangs with it very well for a 1/3 of the price. Hopefully Fomo's full review will be out soon.

Best Buy just dropped the price of the 2018 6 series on the 55" and 65", hopefully the 2019 models will hit soon.

I wouldn't accept either of those two sets that have been posted here. Panel lottery...

Both are clearly visible from normal viewing distances. The first thumb-shaped one.. who knows what caused that? The second small speck.. looks like some dirt, etc. in between the panels. A dead pixel is one thing, but is usually not noticeable when watching unless it's in a really unfortunate spot. I'm surprised that speck of dust/dirt is as noticeable, but in the photo that the user posted, it's clearly visible. I'd send 'em back!

Dang.. first two sets here and each have issues. Yikes...
