Sounds like it wasn't properly calibrated then. A calibrated Sony and a calibrated TCL should look similar.

So my first question is if anyone has the 65" 6 series variant how is the 65" any problems? I have the 55" and I have 10 days to think about upgrading to the 65". I heard the 65" has more probems. I really haven't had any problems on my 55". I just want a bigger TV.
Also when I select auto detect in the audio menu it screws up the syncing of voices from time to time. Now I have a 5.1 setup. My receiver does Dolby Digital Plus and True HD but the receiver does not do Atmos. Should I select Audio Passthrough? Is that only for Atmos receivers or soundbars or should I select the option DD+ plus DTS? Thanks.

A number of off-topic posts have been removed, mostly gaming discussions that had nothing to do with the listed displays.

Stick to the topic.

Still no news about the European version TCL X10. I am waiting and curious. It should have some different specifications then the 8 series and will be an Android TV smart tv. I have heard it is delayed by 2 months. What could be the problem?

I believe it was originally to be an 8K set, but there were delays and it was instead going to be released as a 4K. Perhaps you read about the 8K delays, or TCL has reconsidered the 4K release. You should contact their European branch.

I have a 6 series 65" which I bought in May 2019. So it's a 2018 model.
I have not really calibrated it. Maybe they did a few updates because the reds now look much better.
I was watching some of the newer you tube Oled demos last night, and this TV is fantastic. I can't imagine much better.

I would imagine because every other reviewer showed that it was a forced mandatory update as soon as you started the television.

Anybody experience ARC audio delay issues on these sets? A quick search appears that this is a plagued problem on all Roku TV sets. I was hoping to get a 55” 6 Series for the gaming room and a 75” 8 Series for the entertainment room.

No, there was a mandatory firmware update when you unboxed the TV, and then there was a firmware update a week or two later that you should choose to install. It likely will automatically install itself later, but it was different than the initial mandatory one.

I had a huge scare last night. I put on a netflix show and noticed that there was an odd shadow on the right side of the tv going up all the edge. The shadow was not a straight line but rather a large shape about 7" wide and winding it's way up and down the screen.
I exited netflix and went to you tube, where I played the DSE hockey test. The shadow was very apparent on the white background.
I turned the tv off immediately, and when i turned it on the shape/shadow had disappeared.
This is a 65" 6 series 2018 model, purchased in April 2019.
Anyone else had this problem?

Not your fault because the threads are confusing, but this thread is for the 625 and 825 models. I think this thread is for your model: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-l...ok-review.html

Sheesh, a lot of reports lately about the 2018 TCL failing. Likely the dimming zones.

Well yeah, I know that better than anyone, it's just odd that a handful of people are reporting the same exact problem in the same week, haha. It's the timing. The failing dimming zones, causing black splotches all over their screen.

Of course I just bought a TCL R625 and I'm nervous as hell.

I can understand that. There are other ways to look at it, though. Bills of Materials change all the time, through both design changes and supplier/spec changes. Your set, being of a different year, may not have the same component(s). Even if it does, and the problem turns out to be more widespread, TCL may have a fix in hand before you go out of warranty. Heck, it might even be something fixable via firmware. I don't think you have any reason to worry yet.

Any problem that resolves itself on a reboot is a fixable software/firmware problem so the FUD isn't warranted.

Hey everyone, sorry it's taken a bit to post info about the TV, there was complications with the shipping. Thankfully, everything arrived safe and sound. I'am going to post my thoughts about the TV on the owners thread soon, but I'll give a brief summary here real quick. I saw some posts concerning a green tint to the image of the TCL 75Q825. It seems there might be a slight green push in the Movie picture mode, but something that can be corrected in the settings no doubt. I use the Normal picture mode which looks great with no issues. In terms of contrast, it's...interesting. I'll go into more detail on the owners thread, but here's the quick rundown. This TV is capable of excellent contrast, but sometimes for whatever reason, certain things can trip up the local dimming. One reoccurring one is scenes fading to black, which causes the whole screen to temporarily go hazy. The good news is more times than none, your getting great contrast performance. Playing Star Wars Battlefront II, this TV did excellent. Even when flying through space with star fields and asteroids, blacks remained inky with no apparent blooming. Like I said, i'll go into more detail on the other thread, but I'd figured I would share some of my thoughts here real quick. Anyways, hope this was insightful, and i'll post more soon.

Have a good night everyone!

All in all this TV left me disappointed. I was not expecting much to start with in PQ department for color grading and accuracy, but was def-finitely expecting perfect control of low light scenes which it failed badly. I do agree that it is producing perfect blacks near to OLED level but to achieve that it is crushing shadow detail which I thought would not be the case with that many local dimming zones specially on 75" version. In addition to that it has many other shortcomings which I don't even care of.

Is this a rushed launch for TCL? Could they have delivered a better product if they waited another 6months or a year?
At this point I am not sure they could have done better if they were to be given that extra period of time.
