So I don't know what you're talking about that he "constantly reviews tvs"
That's just flat out wrong.

It's exactly as I explained to you.
He reviews the brand new tech TVs, H9F, Q90R, Sony A9G, Vizio Quantum P, but mostly talks about the tech of hdtvs.

Your analogy of the NY Giants is not relevant. First, if we've just explained everything about football, why would we need to acknowledge the Giants are bad? They obviously are, I wouldn't waste my time just talking about how bad they are, after I just explained in depth everything about football. You'd want to talk about the best strategies, what teams are pushing the envelope, etc.
Second, you have someone trying to explain to you how football strategies work, and they use 5 teams as examples, and you're wondering why he isn't comparing 2 random teams, when he clearly is here to explain. It's like reading Michael Lewis's Blind Side, and wondering why he doesn't give his critical opinion on random NFL teams, instead of recognizing that that is not the point of the book.

Anyway, I've spent a lot of time trying to explain this to you(categorizing all of his reviews is excessive, the things we do for others), you're welcome to understand it or not. I don't think this line of discussion helps the wider public who will view this wanting to see posts about the actual TV, so forgive me if it feels like I'm ignoring this moving forward.
Probably best you do ignore this moving forward, because that was about as incoherent a post as I've ever read.

It's really not that bad in the grand scheme of things, but watching soccer and stuff the DSE irritates me enough to ask for a exchange. Bizarrely and luckily they actually just offered me a full refund which I accepted, which means hypothetically I can cash the check and almost immediately purchase the upcoming new 625. I feel quite lucky really.

But part of me is wary about jumping in immediately into model that may not have much feedback or reviews upon first release, coupled with the last models QA issues. I had a 55 inch 617 before the 65 and it was much worse in regards to DSE.

So I'm currently looking at either the new 6 series or the hisense H9F, to complicate things even more apparently the hisense has common DSE and QA issues as well!

Obviously a difference in price, and I don't mean to shop with your dollars, but a big advantage of Mini LED is uniformity, with there being so many LEDs packed so closely together. Perhaps the 8 Series could be a consideration for you?

Whilst you're quite right about the lower risk of dse on the 8 series, sadly I just can't afford that 2k outlay right now on a TV. $1000 after tax is my strict maximum for a replacement, thus why I'm thinking about the new 6 series. Thanks for your input though.

What's the concern about pulling the trigger on the 6 Series? Look, you know it's a "budget" TV and as thus there is a somewhat heightened chance that you'll have to return the panel for uniformity issues, etc. if you're a picky person (which most of us here are). I think it will always be that way, so why wait? The panel lottery is just part of buying a high-performance budget TV. It's the cost you pay to save the benjamins, some would say. Such is life. Whether or not that's worth it comes down to your budget vs. free time heh.

As someone already mentioned, I would expect TCL "issues" when buying a TCL display. It's not like their entire QC department, system, or effectiveness will change over the course of a year. Maybe if TCL keeps hitting home runs, in a few years their QC might change... maybe.

Best bang for the buck under $1,000 is the H9F and upcoming TCL 6 Series, panel lottery notwithstanding...

So BuyDig is the only retailer showing pre-order for the new 6 Series. I called them this morning and asked when they expect it in stock, and they were very clear: "We don't expect the new 6 Series for another month at least."

Maybe BB gets them earlier, but BuyDig is not expecting to ship any new 6 Series until October.

Damn though! Sept 23rd is my wife's birthday and even though we decided not to get each other a gift this year she would kill me if I bought a TV on her birthday!

I am very interested in the source for availability date of the 21st and 23rd. I hope its true but I am very skeptical. Don't know if BB employees are under some type of nondisclosure to customers but they didn't know anything about possible availability date as of last night.

Same thing I got, they didn't even know TCL was coming out with TV's (except one guy saw them at CES). The samsung rep told me TV's aren't released this time of year so he
would be very surprised if it was not anything more than a refresh of last years models.

It is unusual to release so late in the year but at least the TCL press release back on August 15th states: The TCL 6-Series will be available this summer starting at under $600. In the same press release, it mentions the same line for the Series 5 and some of those are already available. The last day of summer is Sept 23rd but still curious on source of the dates as I don't think that is enough to bank on. Where does TCL import into the US from? China? Mexico?

I'm also waiting like you all so I wrote TCL USA. They replied saying there will be a press release soon with more information including a release date for the 2019 6-Series.
He ended saying that they will be in stores at the end of September.

Thats cool, not too far away. I still have to save my pennies so not ready anyways, but like everyone else anxious to see these in action, and read from reviews.

I have the R617 and it's less than a year old. As much as I would like to pull the trigger on the new 6-series, I'm going to wait for the 8-series to release. Then I'm going 75" baby!

Where did you see where rtings has purchased the R625 series? It says it’s in position to win on their website and that won’t happen for another 45 days.

Yup, that's why I said it's going to take a while. They themselves said they've ordered it, on Youtube. They replied to a comment in their latest H9F video review.

Interesting, this year there's no Amazon-specific version, they're just selling the "regular" R625, vs the 2 previous TVs where Amazon had the -7 variant like R617 and P607. They still got it on sale first though before other retailers.
