I'm wondering how much this has to do with this first limited production run that Amazon received from TCL?

This TV should be a very high volume seller due to price value for performance, so this issue better get sorted quickly.
I ordered a 65 from Amazon early on (like, maybe 2 days if not next day after it was announced). It looked like what his picture looked like (except more towards the top).

My 55" arrived Monday, and the screen is excellent. Some vignetting on the corners, but absolutely nothing I'd notice during regular viewing. I haven't had any time to do any picture calibration, and am usually a little uncomfortable doing it myself anyway.

I'm starting to think there isn't actually an app that calibrates for you, since there is absolutely no information online regarding it - it's just that the Roku app (at least on iOS) has an advanced picture settings menu for you to manually adjust settings.

The app isn't out yet, but should be coming at some point. Unfortunately I don't think there's a concrete date as to exactly when it will be released. This seems like something that should have been available day 1...

Thanks.

I'm having an issue watching 4k content via Amazon Prime. It seems to be switching back and forth between brightness levels - really abrupt swings in levels when scenes/cameras change. I've turned off Local and Dynamic contrasts, and it keeps happening. This is my first 4K display, so maybe it's normal, or there's a setting that I should definitely be using.

Using HDMI for ARC. Have a Sony AVR, the older STRDH720.

Regular 4k shows seemed ok from what I could tell, but Dolby Vision and HDR shows had the audio delay. I'd really rather not buy a new 4k receiver and keep using my shield. I hope TCL or Roku can fix it on their end. Anyone know a good way to let them know, as I doubt they are looking at these forum threads...

Actually, I got contacted by someone from TCL directly on this board because I posted a pic of my busted screen from my first delivery. They put me in contact with their quality assurance department. Who knows how much they're actually reading, though.

Mine never did that with amazon prime.. That doesnt sound right. Might be defective tv.. Try and do a hard reset and see what happen.

Try uninstalling the app, do a reset then reinstall it, and do another reset.

If anyone wants to try to duplicate, it was S1E8 of Goliath (make sure it's the UHD version), in the courtroom scenes.

I don't have a definite answer for you. However I see what you are talking about on my 55 inch TCL P series. I don't see it on my 65 inch Vizio P series, or on my 75 inch TCL 6 series. BTW; uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing. Also, I have been in brighter cocktail lounges than that court room. lol

EDIT: Since it has begun to get dark here I went out on my porch to check my 55 inch 6 series from last year. I also figure while I was at it I would check the 55 inch TCL S series that I have in one of the guest rooms. Neither of those sets showed the issue either.

Sounds like the back light auto dimming feature might be enabled

Awhile ago I tried to use DLNA DTCP-IP streaming from my FIOS DVR to my Win10 computer but couldn't get it to work.
So I was kind of surprised that it works with the Roku Media Player that's built into the TV, Not all channels work and there is no guide but it's cool that you can watch some channels.
It might work with other STBs as well that use DLNA DTCP-IP.

PC Richard & Son just listed the 6 series. The site says it is expected to ship from TCL on the 22nd. Also, the 8 series just showed up on the BB site as coming soon.

I think I fixed my out of sync audio issues. I initially had the TV plugged into an unmanaged switch(100Mbps) that then was plugged into my regular router since I was lazy and that was the only open port available. Last night I rearranged stuff and plugged the TV directly into my router (1Gbps) and the audio seems now in sync.

8 Series only 60hz

So, this is from the quick start manual for the 8 series off of best buys website.
Attached the image.

Showing HDMI signal compatibility. No 120hz listed.

Would be a bummer if the flagship for around ~$2000 is not 120hz.

What are you hoping for? The ability to run 1080p/120? Seems like it will be like the hiscence. Able to do 120 internally but not accept a 120hz signal.

Personally I am more interested in if the 6 series is worth the upgrade over the 2018 version which I currently have.

If I was going to go 8 series then yeah, 1080p / 120hz for gaming. Some Samsungs are doing 1440p / 120hz over HDMI which would be nice.

Not a deal breaker, but good point. It could still have a 120hz native panel but only allow 60hz over HDMI.

Still holding onto my 2016 KS8000 as well. Same deal, 120hz panel but only 60hz over HDMI.

Can anyone that has the 65" do me a favor and measure from the bottom VESA holes to the bottom of the TV. Trying to figure out if I am going to need to raise my current mount.

Variable Refresh Rate Support?

In the preliminary specs, it was stated that the R625 series supported variable refresh rate (max 60Hz). Has anyone with an Xbox One (S or X) verified if this is true? If you go to "advanced video modes" for the "display & sound" settings, are you able to check off "allow variable refresh rate"?

This VRR (variable refresh rate) is still useful even if it maxes out at 60Hz. It's good for games which are running below 60Hz and reduces latency and screen tearing (no need for VSYNC). I usually use a 144Hz panel for PC, but I also have a 75Hz panel which has VRR. It's still very useful. Ideally, it would be nice to have a 120Hz panel with VRR, but that could be next year's model--just in time for the next generation consoles.

It's about 5", the front of the TV isn't flat so it sticks out a bit at the bottom. See attached pics.

It's hard to measure from the back since it's at an angle in the front. To be safe I'd say a little more than 5". Maybe just under 5.25".

That should not make any difference. Unless somehow your switch was defective.

Has anyone found a way to adjust picture settings when playing from the Roku streaming apps? I think with the R617, you were able to adjust while video was playing by hitting the * key, but that does not appear to work with the R625.
