Same here.
I have a 65" 613 (Costco) and it also has vignetting, about 1/2" in all corners. Not a deal breaker, image still looks great and IMMERSIVE. After tweaking the picture menu settings the reds are still a little over saturated. Will run IPQ app soon.

Panasonic TCP58S2 from 2010, 58" plasma. Still works great, and I think this plasma's color accuracy appears better than the TCL class 6. Still need to run the IPQ calibration. Some people want the colors to "pop", I want color accuracy.

The 65" size and the 4k up-sampling do make the TCL's image very impressive!

Does anyone know if it's possible for DSE to get worse over time? Especially when a TV is wall mounted? Do it pull on the panel or something?

Does anyone have experience with the TCL with DSE getting worse? Maybe I'm psyching myself out... but it seems worse than a week ago.

Anybody get their PS4 to output HDR? Says not supported when I try to enable. Guessing the TCL is telling it HDR is not supported since max output is 1080p.

TIA

Edit: I figured it out, needed to force the hdmi output to hdmi 2.0 instead of default auto

I'm starting to notice mine in normal viewing. It's not terrible but I do see it. I'm think my DSE is kind of bad. But I already had the TV mounted so didn't want to stress it. I think it will be fine. I'm after the return period so...

Same. Once I got it out of the box and saw it boot up with no problems... I told myself I wouldn't run tests and go looking for them. Well... I did lol *sigh*. I just couldn't help myself. And I really want to judge TCL for what they are putting out. Now, thankfully the picture quality is good enough to make me forget the DSE and dead-ass pixels that plague the screen lol. I eventually want to go OLED, but that's minimum 2 years away. Hopefully this TCL lasts that long, because I am really enjoying it!

The HDR "Bright" option is still very broken though

Finally got it looking the way I want on my wall. Took awhile to organize all the wires and what nots. I'm attaching some pics, the darker screen is an edit, I lowered the brightness of the picture just to bring out imperfections to really see where they were. The brighter screen is what I see in real usage. Really not bad! It's yellow vertical banding, I'm happy it's not any darker or grey looking. I can live with warmer looking whites due to DSE.

I keep hearing "This TV is great... for the price!" No... this TV is great, period. Even with all the hiccups.

Nice setup. I looked at your pictures...woah. That's pretty bad. You have alot of yellow streaks all around the tv and I can clearly see the bars. I have alittle yellow on the sides not bad and very very faint bars but not like your pictures. However saying that as long as it doesn't show in real world content then you should be fine.

I can't decide if this set is worth the panel lottery risk for the money. Crazy good deals going on now, but seems to be plagued with issues put of the box and/or may development more issues shortly it seems (best buy reviews had units led arrays die).

If you're actually seeing faint bars yourself, then I think we have about the same level of banding/DSE to be honest. I have to look for it to notice it. My first picture is edited to bring out the imperfections, so thankfully it's not actually what I see. I'm just glad it's not grey or distracting! My color tone is always warm, because I like more accuracy in my picture, so my whites blend pretty well!

Got it. If you don't see it that's all that matters. Are you on Roku 9.2 yet? Cause on 9.1 the local dimming is broken. It crushes blacks. Do you see this as well?

Erm, looks like I'm on 9.1.2 Build: 6471 lol, So I guess no? And How would I even go about getting 9.2? There's black crush, but it's rather normal with a full array like this. It seems better than the Q70R at least. But if it can get better, I'm happy to hear TCL is working on it!

I bought the TCL 65R625, and I wanted to ask you guys before I go through the ordeal of driving that massive box back. I don't know much about these panels, but on my TV, when I'm on the Apple TV home screen, which is white, it feels like the white color is vibrating and is bright and hard to stare at it. Also, dark scenes seem too dark, and when actors move around, I see some blurriness around their silhouette. Did a get a bad panel? I ran a DSE test, and everything seems fine with the exception that during the test, white colors seem to have a very faded yellow tint. I think I stare white colors for too long.

TV Picture Settings
Picture mode: Movie
Local contrast High
Backlight 5
Contrast 100
Sharp 20
Color 45
Tint 0
Color temp Warm
Smooth off
Cinema off
LED motion clarity off
game mode off

Unfortunately, I don't have an Android to test the calibration app, but if you guys think of any other settings, I should change, let me know.

I bought this from Best Buy a few days ago and I like the TV a lot, but there is one thing that is bothering me. I noticed right away if I have Local Dimming on at all during playback of HDR content (ie: Low, Medium, High) when the picture transitions from one shot that requires a different dimming level compared to another I get this "flicker" or "burst" effect for a split second. It's almost like the dimming areas brighten up for a split second and causes it to flicker. I noticed this when I watched Avengers: Endgame in the final battle scene a lot.

I don't want to turn Local Dimming off because it makes the picture and levels look so much better to me and I get more detail with it on "Low"

I've been playing Red Dead Redemption II in HDR through Chromecast (Stadia) and I get it too, but it's notice nearly as noticable, it's more like a transition versus a flicker.

Does anyone else get this issue?

I'm not an expert, but I noticed that on dark scenes you can see that dimming is not like a transition it just goes from a tone of dark to another and it feels like a flicker. I called TCL about this and they troubleshooting steps were to check for internet connection speed and reset the TV. I think I'm just going to return it and get the Vizio PX or the Q7D from Costco.

Yup. By chance are you using "bright" HDR mode? That's when it happens for me. It's absolutely broken and I can not stand it. It's like a split second strobe light between scene transitions. I tried explaining it a few posts ago as one of my frustrations with it haha. I REALLY hope TCL can fix it via a firmware update. I'm glad to see other people having a problem with it.

Got my 65” today and am setting things up. I posted some pictures of the panel. I noticed that it’s pretty yellowed. What are your thoughts?

This is pretty much the new normal for this panel. Yellowing is okay as I don't find it distracting in normal content. Grey or darker DSE would be a problem, like last years model frequently had. I think your panel looks pretty good. a smidge better than mine.

I’m going through the daily content testing right now. I haven’t noticed the yellow anywhere other than bright white screens. I’d definitely much rather have yellow tint than dark gray.

For sure! I told myself I wasn't going to run tests when I got it, because it looked rather clean to me... but I did and found problems, haha.

Also wanted to note, that the yellowing is much less noticeable the brighter the backlight is, at least for me. When I lower the backlight down to zero(and darker) for night time/before bed viewing, I tend to notice it more in white content.

Denon x1400h, Apple TV, 65r625 Audio Sync

Received my TCL 65r625 on the 20th of November after my two year old smashed his toy car into our 65r615 (2018 model) and cracked the screen significantly. My AV set up consists of a TCL 65r625 (running Roku 9.2), a Denon X1400h (May 2019 firmware), and an Apple TV 4K (13.2). Right now I have my Apple TV connected to my Denon via HDMI and then my Denon connected to the TCL via HDMI ARC (HDMI 4 on the TCL). On the old panel, I never experienced any audio sync issues across any framerate or color space content on the Apple TV and I didn't really notice anything for the first two weeks until this past Saturday (11/30/19). First it was on watching THE REPORT (HD) on Amazon Prime and the audio was almost a second behind. I assumed it was a bandwidth or Amazon app issues and moved on. Then I tried watching THE IRISHMAN (DV, 24 FPS) and I noticed an audio delay as well.

Now it seems like every framerate and color space has a varying degree of audio delay. I've been troubleshooting for several hours and still haven't isolated the issue.

On my Denon X1400h, I've turned on and off Auto Audio Lip Sync and it seems to be worse with it off, but still not perfect. I can adjust the millisecond delay manually on the receiver, but it's so annoying because each piece of content has a different delay. I've changed the HDMI output from Enhanced to Standard (side note: on the 2018 version, this would disable Dolby Vision from the Apple TV, but now it doesn't on the 2019 panel). I turned off all the ARC features on the receiver.

On the Apple TV, I've tried to force different color spaces and different frame rates. I've done match frame rates and color spaces. I've calibrated the audio sync with the new Wireless Audio Sync feature on tvOS 13.2 on every frame frame, color space, and chroma. I did the calibration when the receiver's auto lip sync is on and off. I've done the calibration with the ARC on and off between the panel and the receiver. I've the calibration with the HDMI output set to Enhanced and Standard on the receiver.

I watched THE IRISHMAN on the TCL's native ROKU app and the sync was fine, but I noticed that the sound dropped after about 5 seconds. I have no idea what that's about.

I'm at a total lost.

I’m having an ARC problem also. The receiver is a Yamaha TSR-7810. When I have CEC enabled and turn on my Directv box, the AVR defaults to the ARC channel. I wish I could find a fix for that, but it seems common with no real solution. The problem is when it defaults to the ARC channel there is a static/popping sound present when the volume is between -27 to -32 dB. The sounds completely stop when the volume is below or above this range. I have a 3.0 setup, and the sounds only come from the L & R channels. The center channel is silent. The AVR shows all channels are active. The static sound stops as soon as the TV sends sound to the AVR, such as the clicks when you scroll through the menu.

I’ve tried different HDMI cables and plugging things into different outlets. I tried to replicate it on my old Panny Plasma, but I it doesn’t default to ARC like the TCL. I never used ARC with the Panny, but when I activate it through the media player it is perfectly silent. I’m assuming this is a TV problem. Anyone have any other ideas?

I have the same tv and receiver but with an nvidia Shield and don't have that issue. But I don't use arc. I have Ann optical cable ran for the tv apps because of all the issues arc seems to introduce, plus when this TV came out lots of people were talking about delays in audio over arc.

I have a 55" 625 as a secondary set in family room with a Denon X3400 for audio using ARC/CEC. With the this setup I only use internal apps. No issues with delay, but I do get the audio dropout after a few sec notably when using Netflix. Never get it when using OTA and dont think Ive seen it with Prime Video. With Netflix, restarting the stream usually will fix it. I had this AVR connected to a Sony for a year and never saw this. Kind of annoying. There are several things that are not super with this TV but its OK. I didnt expect a Sony for the price of it.

So you're running the shield through the Denon and you're not having any issues with audio sync? Does the shield still have limited cable logins for certain apps? I've heard HBO Go doesn't accept certain cable providers on the Shield.

I'm curious if the native apps on the Roku platform present in Dolby Vision. My understanding is the external Roku models can only do HDR.

Correct I don't have sync issues with the shield. I have never heard about that issue with cable providers. I use spectrum and it's always an option. And it seems like the same are available for every app but I don't pay too close attention to the other providers.

As far as the internal Roku apps they do indeed support Dolby vision.

I have the 55R617 (2018 6 Series) and there are internal apps that play in DV if the content supports it..."Altered Carbon" on Netflix comes to mind. I have been waiting for an upgraded ROKU Ultra to add DV support for just that feature unless another <not Apple> streaming box comes along with DV support. While I haven't had many ARC issues to deal with I'd still prefer to run all my sources though the AVR rather than back to it from the TV.
