Weird question - does anyone with ATV 4K have lip sync with HDR movies? I get it with iTunes and Vudu movies. DV and SDR titles are fine. Roku channels play the movies fine.

I have my ps4 hooked up through my receiver, denon x2300w. The ps4 when turned on turns everything on. I think maybe you might need to scan for cec devices under settings and system. Edit: after more thoroughly reading your post about the ps4 and having to select a/v receiver, yes I still have to select it. It doesn't automatically change to that input. You might want to turn on 1-touch play in the same settings.

I would run it a minimum of three times in a dark environment.

That being said, I’m not sure too many people have actually measured how accurate it is.

Yeah, I'd say that's not good. The final result needs to be at or around 1.3. Just do it a few more time to tune it in further.

I thought I read somewhere that SDR definitely should NOT use the Native color space since the native color space of the TV is RGB Full range, but SDR is mastered in RGB Limited range? I think keeping the setting on Auto for all modes is the best way to go. I'll admit if I'm wrong since I don't know this for a fact, but it sounded right, lol.

Edit to add: All devices should be set to AUTO mode to let them choose the correct color space.

Any advice on what to adjust if my SDR reds seem oversaturated? I'm using HD-Master's settings with slight modification.

What phone do you have? You should really run the iPQ app for yourself. I have an LG G7 and was able to find an older version of the app online that works with my phone. My TV looks really good.

Try switching color space to auto. Think native over saturates SDR.

The color needs to be pumped up from anywhere to 80 to 100 in my experience, to at least match say Samsungs movie mode or HDR. I'm sure you've went into the phone app to fine tune the gamma and color space to get a bit more depth. The IPQ calibration app should also handle the white balance to help accuracy too. And Warm should be used, as "cool" or "normal" actually seems to decrease the overall brightness of the picture.

"Normal HDR" mode also seems to provide better results than "Dark" HDR from my experience. Especially with Dolby Vision. I keep the brightness at 50 to not lose detail in blacks, and the color at 100 to get the best results, gamma at 2.2 or 1.8 on certain occasions.

You can't really go off of any internet posted calibration notes, as every panel is different, you kind of just have to eyeball it to the very best of your ability, and whip out the IPQ app.

Color 80-100 are you nuts..lol It looks way oversaturated if I tried even 60..lol But is all good if you like that. Who am I to say lol Also people DV and HDR is automatically changes to the proper settings. No need to change anything except maybe sharpness. There still isn't a standard or concrete settings set in place for DV and HDR as of yet so that's why its automatic, at least for most tv's. For SDR Movie mode is the best setting IMO.

So I have my PS4 routed through an AV Receiver and then from the Receiver to HDMI 4. I know I have to turn on Game Mode to reduce input lag, even though it results in worse image quality. But apparently I also have to do it when I'm watching blu-rays through the PS4? I was hoping I could turn off Game Mode when watching blu-rays through the PS4, but the lag is pretty apparent to me without it. Do I really have to either get a separate blu-ray player or keep Game Mode enabled to get a good picture sync through the PS4?

So what picture mode is everyone using on the Xbox X? I switch back and forth from Movie and Normal on SDR content. Also, I moved away from Warm and use Normal now as it's way to Yellow. Its like Samsungs Warm 2..lol Also are you guys setting your Xbox to 8,10 or 12 bit? They say you should use 8 bit as everything will be converted to the correct color algorithms but I am using 10 bit. Also if I set to 8 bit and use the Xbox calibrator when adjusting the black level I never see the closed eye. But if I set to 10 bit then I can adjust the black level correctly and can see the closed eye. Anyone else have any suggestions or input?

Does anyone know what the input lag for 1080p content is? I heard CNET says it's 11ms regardless of game mode on. Would this mean game mode is only useful for 4k-HDR consoles?

Twayne- I must apologize to you. I can't find your original post that says boost color between 80-100. I replied back saying no way it's way over saturated, but boy I was wrong. On SDR content I boosted the color to 90 and wow it really does pop the colors. I thought if I raised the color that high it would screw up the natural color of peoples faces, yes I know TINT corrects skin color but I thought it would affect peoples skin color if I raised the color and its didn't and it looks fantastic. So I must apologize. Lol

My suggestion is always use AUTO for SDR and HDR color space. The tv will output the correct color spectrum on Auto.

Unfortunately that is not what is happening. You can measure the primary and secondary colors to see that very clearly.

Haha, I appreciate the apology! Yeah, it seems ridiculous right? Color pumped that high? But I kind of dig that the TCL color palette is more restrained by design, or "natural". At least in certain picture modes. They let the user decide to saturate as much as they want, and it never gets TOTALLY overblown/over saturated, even at 100.

As a previous Samsung Owner, I did get used to their crazy colors, but I do like the TCL's range more, so I have more realistic choice. I'm not crazy haha, I have a calibrated Plasma I get to directly compare to, and of course my prior Samsung 8. The TCL strikes a nice balance between a more natural picture and color "pop". The IPQ engine really just ironed every thing out for me, and I've gotten things to finally look faaairly perfect. At least as much as it can for an LCD. I honestly couldn't be happier with the TCL picture quality now.

You have to use the Roku app on your phone and be connected to the same network as your TV, then you can adjust the advanced settings for your TV from within the app.

ARC hand-off issues:

I have a fairly standard setup: 1 ARC Cable going from soundbar to ARC input on TCL. 3 HDMI inputs into the Soundbar (although one of these HDMI's is coming from an HDMI splitter with multiple HDMI's going into it).

I constantly have an issue, when I turn on the TV, it does not have sound. When I go to Settings-->System-->CEC it does not recognize the soundbar as an ARC input. It shows there are no CEC devices, and even when I try to refresh devices it does not show it. I then have to go through a series of steps of turning the TV on before I can get it to show the soundbar as an Active ARC device. Sometimes is shows the Soundbar but says it is "inactive".

I first thought it was my Vizio soundbar having the issues, so I replaced it with a Nakamichi, and the problems are just as bad.

Has anyone had these ARC hand-off issues? Do I need to have the soundbar turned off, when I turn the TV on, and then turn on the soundbar when the TV comes up?

Help.....

I've been eyeballing this 65" model and the Hisense H9F for months now, to replace an old TV up stairs. I have an LG OLED in the entertainment room, so I don't need anything crazy upstairs. It will be largely for cable TV (not much 4K content, unless I move my LG player up there when the PS5 comes out), once in a while sports, but not many movies up there and no gaming.

I havent read the whole thread, but Ive read rtings review and a few others. Is there any big draw backs I need to know about? I know its VA, and that is slightly concerning, as sometimes we watch this TV from the kitchen, 45-60 degree angle. For now its only going to be connected to a Xfinity X1 box and a older blu-ray player. I plan on using Google Assistant, and probably getting a harmony remote for it as well.

I can get this over 10% off retail cost right now, and I dont know if there is a better value than that right now?

Your only option is OLED if you watch from such an angle. Anything more than 20 degree horizontal angle will kill colors and contrast on this panel.

Im aware of that, but its not for long periods. Say I am cooking dinner/lunch while a game is on, I may have it on for a bit until I get back downstairs to the LG OLED. Thats why I wasn't stressing too much on the angle, as most of the seating is straight on.

I understood from CNET and Rtings specs that this is a great gaming tv for 1080p and 4kHDR consoles.
This week Cnet rates it #1 for gaming /lowest input lag of all the tvs they have tested so far in their list :
https://www.cnet.com/news/best-tvs-f...cture-quality/

Rtings rates input lag 9.9 showing great specs between 10.6 and 13.3ms;
1080p @ 60 Hz 11.3 ms with gaming mode on. (but rtings shows 94.2ms gaming mode off, so maybe cnet made a mistake).

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tc...ries-r625-2019
And with VRR added in later this year these specs should be slightly better. Maybe the firmware update will also make our tv nearly equivalent to the THX game certified TCL 6 2020 later this year.

I'm going to call Costco in the morning to see if they are going to get this TV. I noticed today that the current TCL55R613 Model is now not available. I will let you know.
