Thanks, n1ghtcrawl3r.

New TV models are usually announced in CES in Vegas. Date for 2020 CES is Jan-7, we probably do not have t wait long for 2020 models.

Do you guys wall-mount your large TV? I have been shopping for a TV stand with width over 75 inches, there are not a lot of choices. I may have to mount it on the wall.

The stand width on the 85" X950G is 69 5/8 inches.

The stand width on the 82" and 85" Q70R is 49 1/4 inches.

The new models might be available for purchase in the spring, but at high prices. You'll be waiting another 6 months at least for a deal.

Where did you find these widths ? I was trying to find the width of the legs for the 75" Q70R. Thanks.

The Samsung Canada product page for the Q70R.

Stand (Minimum) (WxD)
1251.5 x 387.3 mm

1251.5 mm = 49.27"

Only uber-expensive Micro LED TVs from Samsung and Sony are available now. Maybe within 5 years something in the affordable range might be for sale. Mini LED is available now from TCL but that's still LCD technology.

Agreed.
I meant when they release the new models, price of X950G would drop.

It may drop a bit more, but then you'll have all the new shiny 2020 models putting a gleam in your eye. Plus sometimes, if there isn't a big supply of a popular last year's model, the spring price drop just matches the black Friday sale price. So you wait 5 to 6 months for nothing. The Sony X900F, for example, really didn't drop much at all last spring.

My hope is to get the X950G for $4.5K CAN, then I will have to add 13% for sales tax.
Sure wants to get the TV in the next few weeks.

I'd say - go to a bestbuy and try and negotiate it. You might land exactly where you want and get your TV in a week, instead of waiting for the new year. No harm in trying, and if you have a number in mind, it makes it easy to walk away with or without a TV!

Good idea.
I did not know Best Buy would negotiate.

I went to local Best Buy and 85 inch X950G is now $5300 CAN. I talked to the clerk and surprisingly, he called their Sony representative for me. They told me that the price may drop by $100-200 on Boxing Day but if I buy now, they would throw in free shipping and free setup. This comes with free Insignia mounting hardware. Also, if I buy a sound bar, they will be discount with the sound bar.

My current sound bar is 4-5 years old and it would look puny when put in front of the new TV. Any suggestions? Samsung Q80R?

Pulled the trigger on Sunday on the following:
Sony 85X950G
Sony ST5000 sound bar
Nvidia Shield Pro
2 Sanus TV mounts

I was thinking to go with Samsung sound bar but the in-store Sony rep worked with the manager and gave me a good price for the combo.
Looks to me that Sony will release a new flagship sound bar in 2020 CES because they are giving the ST5000 away.

I am mounting the old KDL65W850A in my bedroom.
I will connect only a FireTV stick to it.
