Worth the upgrade for HDR?

I currently have a 2015 Vizio M series 70" which has 4K but no HDR.
I'm considering buying a 2018 Samsung NU8000 75".
Would the upgrade be worth it to get HDR?
Is it worth worrying about Samsung not supporting Dolby Vision?
I have some 4K blu-rays that I'll be playing through my Xbox One X, as well as gaming at 4K.
I see from reviews it's a decent tv, and has a nice sale which puts it at what I want to spend.
But it has some bad local dimming I see on a review, but not sure if that's enough to say I should stick with my Vizio?
I'm not looking to jump in price, so it's purely a matter of sticking with my Vizio, or upgrading to this?

IMO Dolby Vision is the best reason to upgrade. HDR is ok, but the movies I have in DV have the best color out of all of them. DV is a better standard and I would wait till you can get a TV that supports it.

You'd be better off buying a TCL 8 Series 65", or a TCL 6 Series 75" from last year. Both will perform better than that Samsung and both also have Dolby Vision. The 8 Series has considerably better local dimming (and the most dimming zones at that size) but the one on the 6 Series is not bad at all (and still definitely better than that Samsung's; even the 65" 6 Series will give you better quality). Both are also around the same price or cheaper than that Samsung.

The NU8000 is edge lit with poor local dimming, so IMO that isn't worth it for HDR. What kind of 4K blu-ray movies will you be watching? A lot of HDR is used for special effects on those costumed super hero movies. So if you like those, get a mid to high range FALD VA panel TV. For 4K gaming, Samsung's VRR support might be important so a Q70R might work.

Since you don't give a price, it's hard to understand "I'm not looking to jump in price". Jump in price from what? If you're meaning the 75" NU8000, I saw it listed for $2K, and the 75" Samsung Q70R and 75" Sony 900F are the same price and are much better FALD VA panel TVs.

Ok thanks all. I definitely won't get a Samsung. It was priced at $1800 CAD btw - https://www.2001audiovideo.com/en/ca...ung-UN75NU8000

I'll consider the Sony 900F next year maybe or if there is a big sale. It's at $2800 CAD - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...09GVH0DE1DX1BN

That TCL 6 series I guess is this one, for $1700 CAD - https://www.amazon.ca/TCL-75R617-CA-...ronics&sr=1-13

But I also have a stand issue, where alot of the tvs where the feet go right to the edge I can't quite fit on my stand, so also looking for one with the feet set either middle or slightly in.

I’d pull the trigger on the TCL and get a universal stand for it. They can be found on amazon for about $25.

I'd still recommend that TCL model.

You can easily overcome the wide feet issue by getting a VESA type stand like this one:

Or this one:
https://www.amazon.ca/VIVO-Universal...tronics&sr=1-6

Oh wow thanks I actually never knew stands like that existed, never even considered I could get another stand. That opens so many options to me! Thanks so much!
